I was super pumped to try this product as I love BB creams and I love Garnier products so was convinced this would be a win for me! Unfortunately I wasn’t that impressed.
First impressions of the packaging, very impressed that they’ve managed to move away from the plastic tubes to recycled cardboard. Anything to help the environment without sacrificing product quality is a win for me! The tube is very solid, I threw it in my handbag and not only did it not bend, but the lid also didn’t pop open and let product out everywhere. Such a win!
The product itself is very easy to apply, but like any standard BB cream doesn’t give great coverage unless you apply a couple of layers. I got the light shade, however it came out of the tube looking super orange! It eventually blended into my face but I felt like I could still see some orange tinges which is definitely a no from me. It had a weird fragrance to it which I felt was quite overpowering.
The ultimate test for me was trying to cover up a face full of sunburn. The BB cream took a little bit of the red away, but not much else. I think the formula is a little too thin to provide much coverage without building up heaps of layers.
I found this gave me a few more breakouts than I would have liked, which was disappointing given it’s got hyaluronic acid. I found I was having to wash my face more which also aggravated it more and meant I had to use more BB cream. A bit of a vicious cycle!
Overall, I don’t think this BB cream was for me. The formula was a bit thin and orange for my liking. I personally would benefit from a thicker formula.
To start with, I just have to say I am impressed with the new cardboard bottle - it actually feels nicer than plastic, and of course is better for the environment.
The BB cream itself is great. It goes on so easily, and doesn't leave my face feeling greasy, or like I even have make up on, which is super important to me. I got 'light', which would probably be better as a winter shade for me, but I just chucked a little powder over the top to give me the colour I needed.
It seems to stay on well throughout the day- - a little hard to judge as the constant mask wearing, and the sweating that that causes, changes the game a little.
Towards the end of the day my forehead was a little oily, but that is normal for me anyway - I don't think the BB cream made this any worse.
All in all, I think this is will now be my preferred BB cream - the SPF 25 is a HUGE bonus for me too.
Tips: Start with a little, and build coverage slowly - you'll be surprised at how little you need.
