After trying a lot of sponges, I finally bit the bullet and got one of these bad boys in a kit from Beautylish. To me these are quite expensive so I was hoping I wasn't going to fall in love.
The beauty blender is bright pink in color and the trademark tear shape, pointed at the top and rounded at the bottom. I'm not sure how true it is, but I've heard they sue people for 'stealing' their shape for their own blenders, which in my opinion is pretty pathetic if it is true.
The sponge works best when wet so I got to it. It applies foundation the way I expect it would, but it's not a miracle sponge by any means, it doesn't help the foundation blur my imperfections, and I haven't noticed I use less with the sponge either.
First wash I did the sponge bled out so much color, it was ridiculous. I was standing for 10 minutes pushing as much color as I could out. It dried in a regular amount of time, and shrunk back to the normal size. I will say, after washing it the sponge was softer, but I'm still not sure if its "better". For the price, I think this sponge is a rip, and I do think there are better alternatives out there for a quarter of the cost. I'm not sure what the hype is around these sponges, but I won't be repurchasing.
I was given this as part of a present so imagine my shock when I found it it was over 30 dollars! A tiny sponge like this should really be under $10. Before trying the original beauty blender I had a cheap $1 beauty blender I bought off ebay. This feels more dense and it's definitely smaller in size compared to the cheap one. But in terms of application it's not actually that different. Each time I use it I spray it with some toner because I have seen youtubers soak theirs in warm water, but I really don't want to wet the whole beauty blender every time. The toner helps my foundation look more natural and spread easier. It does make my foundation look a lot more streakless than application with a brush, and the pointy end gets into the area around my nose and eyes really well. I think though for everyday use a cheap ebay beauty blender is sufficient. Considering one of these can buy 30 cheap ones, I'd much rather just buy lots of cheap beauty blenders which will let me swap out old ones more frequently too.
Tips: Remember to clean your beauty blender or chuck it out and buy a new one every now and then! These are absolute bacteria farms and can lead to acne and nasties!
I really enjoyed using the beauty blender, it makes your makeup look more natural and even. To be honest I can't tell the difference in use between the beauty blender and the chichi sponges
Tips: Make sure it is quite wet
A friend bought this back from america for me and before receiving it I had only ever used a brush. I loved it and haven't gone back to a brush for my foundation since. It makes blending foundation so much easier and left my foundation a lot more flawless. The sponge lasted a good amount of time before it started looking worse for wear. I have to say however that I didn't re purchase another beauty blender, athough it was an awesome product I just couldn't justify spending $30 on the sponge - a $8 one does the job just as good
It is my life save. Blending my base make up flawlessly. As a dry skin when I use brush for foundation its always make a dry patch but with beauty blender what it does is patting my foundation in place, no more dry patch hello perfect foundation
Tips: Soaked beauty blender in warm water and make sure you squeeze water out as much as you can. Clean and dry regularly it will last you for ages.
Before owning this beaut, i used my hands and brushes. My friend told me to splash out and pay for a beauty blender. I thought - NO WAY $40 for a sponge, screw that! But in the end the curiosity luckily got the better of me. I cannot live without it! no more streaky foundation, no more uneven thick parts, this product is literally a miracle. It takes just minutes to completely blend out my foundation and im never worried about streaks or brush marks anymore. This is my one true holy grail of the makeup world.
Tips: Tip is to wet it with warm water and squeeze out excess then squeeze into a towel
Im really on the fence about this one, the beauty blender apposed to other brands that I have tried is a super light sponge and because of this I find it doesnt soak up as much product. But the price for this is a little insane for something that you are technically supposed to replace every 3 months. It is great for blending in concealer under the eyes with the pointed tip it is amazing, and when applying powder for baking it does do a pretty good job. But again I'm just not suuuper blown away impressed, I think there are some pretty good more affordable alternatives out there that can do just a good of a job.
I'm sold on this I have this pink blender dubbed the original & I have 2 black blenders & 1 mini blender. I find that this is very ply able easy to use dabbing is necessary & it dent soak up too much product it evenly distributes product & leaves my skin looking flawless. I'm not worried about the price point becauseany makeup item in NZ is exspensive. I find that in comparison to other blenders there are differences in a earaches & in effects. So this is a teardrum shaped item. I find that even when you don't clean it regularly it's still good to go. Of course it's better to clean it after each use if not every second use. I tried other brands before this blender & while they did work I'm finding this is the top of blenders imo.
Tips: Clean regularly with the beauty blender cleanser soap it's amazing
This was my first beauty blender that I purchased at Sephora and I'm in love with it!. It really does give off that flawless airbrushed looked when you apply your foundation with it. I don't ever use a stippling brush to apply my foundation or concealer I use the beauty blender.
Tips: Push and press your foundation gently on your face to get that airbrushed look and damp it a little.
