I have previously used different Banana Boat products and have been impressed, so had no hesitation in purchasing this one. Priced reasonably and product packaging pretty standard. Application easy enough and a light unusual fragrance which did not bother me unduly. Worked like a dream but be prepared it leaves you very greasy and a bit tacky which is fine at the side of a pool but on the beach the sand sticks to you like crazy. No I would definitely not use it again as I felt really uncomfortable and sticky for the entire time it was on. I actually gave it away after trying it a few times.

I brought mine from the warehouse. It was $12 I was so excited to use this sunscreen because it apparently works I went to the beach and applied this all over my body. It felt slippery (obviously its sunscreen) and it smells nice to me. So anyway I was running in the sun swimming the water. And so on.... When I got out and started drying myself off my skin went from being fair/medium to being medium dark... Uhhhh I absolutely almost died looking at my skin shade. It didnt work on me damn
I like to trial and error things such as sunscreen because there may be one better suited to my skin type or that offers more protection for my skin. This came to my attention on trip to the warehouse where they had 25% off sunscreens, so of course I had to have this. First of all the pump bottle I love because it means I minimize wastage and I don't have to worry about a thick cream to rub in to my skin. I can take or leave the design on the bottle, it's rather bland and unimaginative. It doesn't jump out to me at all besides that it is the Banana Boat brand.
The consistency of the sunscreen is quite watery I find and seems to absorb far too quickly. When it comes to sunscreen prefer to have a white film still visible because it offers peace of mind that my skin is protected. I do prefer 50+SPF but I know that 30+SPF is just as suitable. The smell is quite pleasant while still maintaining that familiar sunscreen smell. I made sure that I reapplied every two hours when I was in the sun and every hour when I was in the water to prevent sunburn. I concentrate on areas like the face and my tattoos (mostly to prevent them fading).
Now for Banana Boat I expected a more quality performance. After four hours at the beach I can almost guarantee that I will be a red lobster despite reapplying as directed. To me this is more suited as a winter sunscreen than a summer one because the sun is far more intense when it's summer. I wear this under my foundation in the colder months just to use it up. I prefer other brands with higher SPF rating though to be safe. I am not a fan of this one at all.
Tips: Reapply often to prevent burning
Most stores provide Banana boat products in most nz stores. I like to pick mine up from The Warehouse because they often have a sale on their skincare products. When I look at sunscreens I try and go for a bottle that can last me and my family a decent amount of time. I like to choose a sunscreen that can be used for my partner and I and my two kids.
This sunscreen comes in an upright bottle that has a nozzle thats easy to disperse product out of. I notice that this formula is thin creamy and white. I did notice a slightly greasy after feel with this. Has a mild scent not to overpoweing for my children.
I find this easy to apply to my skin and my children find it simple to rub into their skin. My partner has rosacea and sensitive skin and had no irritations at all with it. I found I needed to apply every two hours because my partner and son burn very easily being fairly pale skinned. In the water I needed to apply hourly for my kids particularly because it rubbed off them easily.
Ideally I would expect water resistant protection for up to four hours but didn't happen for my kids. I did have sun protection when I was dry though. I think its priced fairly . One bottle lasted me up to 6 months usage. I wouldn't buy it again as I wasn't a fan of the consistency.
It was through this product I realised I was not a fan of spray on sunscreen. Although for a spray product the spray come out nicely the fact that since it is spray on it is so thin makes me weary of its actual sun screening capabilities.
I like banana boat but will be sticking to the actual thicker lotions
We used this product once when we were caught out and it was the only sunscreen we could buy. My daughter and I ended up with rashes and dermatitis from the product which we had to wash off immediately! We don't normally have sensitive skin but it must contain chemicals that irritate our skin. I will not buy this product again as there are plenty of other options on the market to choose from.
Most unreliable sunblock ive ever used.
One summer i spent it at the mount and i was only in the sun for a hour or two, i applied the sunblock over 5 times and i still got the most burnt ive ever been in my life.
Really bad experience and i havent trusted banana boat since.
Tips: * would not reccomend.
I personally did not find this sunscreen to be 'Lightweight & Fast Absorbing' or 'Non-greasy' as it states. It says that it is ideal for daily use on face and body - but there is no way I'd be putting this on my face.
In my opinion, it should only be used on kids who aren't too fussed about the 'feel' of sunblock. But I won't be buying it again.
There are far superior SPF products on the market that are actually non-greasy.
I tried this sunscreen after being blasted by the sun one time too many! The protection of this product is great, it glides on smoothly and stopped my skin form developing any redness or burn. The formula is scentless, which would be great for people with sensitive skin or aversion to fragrances, but I personally love sunscreens with a tropical or coconut scent!
My main dislike about this product was how greasy it felt on the skin - it was very thick and tacky, both directly after application and after walking around in the sun for an hour. Quite unimpressed by that.
Would be great for kids though, since it didn't irritate my skin in the slightest.
