I bought this during one of BH Cosmetics many sales a few years back for about NZD30.00. It came securely packaged but the smell of the pletha makeup brush roll was disgusting. That was enough motivation to get the brushes out, wash them and ready for use.
It's quite an overwhelming sight to see so many brushes but on closer inspection; you begin to notice that a lot of the brushes look very similar and then you start to question the functionality of some as I found out.
Each brush was in great condition and had a plastic cover over the brush heads. They have a nice weight to them and they don't feel cheap however some of the brushes did end up looking cheap after some use (i.e the tan brown bristles). The brushes are of a good quality considering the price, with only 1 or 2 brushes shedding but that's after years of use (i.e. duo fibre stippling and the fan brush).
My favourite brushes are the face ones which are amazingly soft against the skin. They pick up a good amount of product and do a good job at distributing the product. The brushes with the tan brown bristles are mostly eye brushes and are semi-decent. They tend to be a tad scratchy and after washing the bristles they aren't as dense so packing on colour or blending is no longer their forte.
The rest of the brushes (despite being soft) are quite stiff and don't offer much movement so the best you can do is a patting motion to apply the product. Forget about swiping because you'll pretty much wipe off the product.
Do I still have them today? Yes but no more than 10 (most of the face brushes and 2-3 eye brushes). I got rid of the rest because functionally they weren't that great for me however I did put some to good use (i.e. using the brushes for crafts). I think you're better off buying the brushes you'll actually use from BH Cosmetics that are functional and essential than having an extra 20 brushes that are quite useless and take up space.
I was lucky enough to purchase this when BH Cosmetics were having a sale - I paid $34 nzd. :)
Let's start with the case, it feels like quality. Soft leathery feel and folds up into a neat little purse and it has little designs on it - it's really just incredibly adorable. Even if I didn't like the brushes, the brush purse is definitely a keeper.
The brushes themselves are great for someone starting out their makeup kit. The handles are long and sturdy and the bristles are soft to the touch.
There are sooo many useful brushes in here! For every big brush you have, theres a smaller one included too. Big blending brush, small blending brush. Even the array of liner brushes is just fabulous. My favourite is the bent eyeliner brush. It's so easy to get into the nooks that are often hard to reach. With this kit, you have the tools to create ANY look you could want.
I love all my BH brushes in this kit. They're a very welcomed edition of my own collection and I highly recommend investing in this kit!
Tips: There is some fallout with the bristles with some brushes, more than my MAC and RT brushes, but only a very tiny amount!
Also, BH Cosmetics often have amazing sales. Wait for one to purchase the kit.
