I was so lucky to grab a 60 seconds to beautiful brows box in the last rewards vault. The packaging is simple and understated, no clear instructions on use (if you are a first timer using powder then may I suggest a quick youtube clip to assist).
The powder comes in a cute wee silver compact with a clear middle in the top of the screw-off lid, this wee compact is quite sturdy as the same day I received it I accidentally knocked it off my desk and onto a hard concrete floor... I didn't want to look but hubby did for me and it was all intact... not even slightly loose (I breathed a huge sigh of relief). I was concerned that the powder was too light for my dark brown/black brows but it is build-able and makes a nice natural looking brow in 60 seconds (give or take). It doesn't take a lot of product to get good results and with a bit more practice I can see me switching between my regular holy grail brow product and this kit.
I use the brush before and after the powder to help blend it but you could possibly get a sharper look if you use it with a brow gel as well but this will add on more time also.
The spoolie end of the brush is good and firm and brushes my brows easily, it doesn't snag any hairs (I don't have any surplus to spare) and makes a neat job effortlessly. The angled end is great for applying powder both in a fine line and at the widest part. It is almost the perfect size for my brows (not too thin but just wide enough), it picks up powder easily and applies it cleanly and precisely.
I’m trying hard to think of any makeup lover who would ONLY spare 60 seconds for the very things that frame our face (nothing wrong if you do). I’ve been using this for a week (day and night when going out) and aside from how it’s marketed I like it. I feel however it’s more suited for those who prefer natural looking brows but even 60 seconds for natural brows is a stretch.
The product is marketed as a “pop of colour” and personally I want my brows to appear full, filled in and defined. I have thin sparse eyebrows so natural just won’t do for me, I may as well not bother with brow products (the horror!). With this product, I can easily fill in my brows and build up the colour but I can still see slight gaps that this powder just can't cover.
Courtesy of the BR Beauty Vault I managed to pick up the powder / brow brush combo in Taupe. I’m pretty sure they could downsize the box it comes in by storing the powder sideways, I don’t think that would compromise the quality of the product. You get 2g of pressed powder in a silver plastic screw top tub (similar to Stila Crushed Metals). I would have liked if the lid was a flip top so you could easily click it shut without the risk of losing the lid. The powder has an incredibly soft texture which adheres well to the skin and hair.
Taupe is the perfect colour for my black brows, I can build up the colour for a "full look" or easily sheer it out using the spoolie for a natural look. The brow brush which has an angled brush on one end and a spoolie on the other end is nothing special. I think the angled brush is a little too soft because I find that even when I add pressure, I can’t achieve sharp lines and they just end up looking soft. If you already have your own brow brush there is really no need for you to buy this combo, you can make do with buying the powder on its own.
I use the powder in conjunction with an eyeshadow cream to achieve the kind of brows that I want, on its own it’s not for me however I would repurchase the powder just to use with the other product.
Tips: If you want to build up the colour, swirl the angled brush around in the product (dabbing it won’t do much).
