I was given Bio Oil at my baby shower when i was pregnant with my second son, i didnt think much of it as i didnt suffer from stretch marks with my first pregnancy. during my last month or so of my pregnancy i started to notice a few stretch marks appearing so i begun using it, applying at night time before bed, i carried on using it for the following few months and never had another sign of any stretch marks appearing. The bottle was a decent size but it did leak slightly after it had been knocked over by accident

Tips: Be sure to store the bottle upright to avoid any accidental leakage.
Although I do not use this to directly target a scar, I am a advocate for this wonderful product. I use it most nights before I go to bed by applying a two drops in the palm of my hands and then rubbing it over my face. At first I was hesitant as I thought it would make my skin more oily and cause me to breakout, but I always wake up with lovely clear calm skin. It works similarly to 'Rosehip Oil' and restores balance and helps with pigmentation. I sometimes use this on other areas of my body, rather than moisturizer, if I feel that my skin is dry and needs some TLC!
Tips: Only use a small amount when applying to face, the best time to apply would be right before bed.
I got this because I have stretch marks and scars that I wanted to help fade. I used this religiously everyday for weeks and didn't notice any difference, So I went to get more, but the price always made me wince. After months of using it and not seeing any difference, I decided to save my money and leave it alone. It did make my skin feel amazing, but it wasn't worth the price just for that.
Tips: UPDATE: I have started using this on my hands as I get really dry cuticles. It works AMAZINGLY as a cuticle oil if not on anything else.
I was a bit apprehensive about trying this as I have really sensitive skin prone to ezcema and irritations and is more on the dry side of life but a friend of mine swore by it throughout her pregnancy. This is the very first oil I had ever tried.
I didnt have any particular scars or marks that I was trying to diminish I was just trying something to give my skin a bit of extra moisture and oomph and even out my skin tone a bit.
I thought this would probably work best if I put it on before I went to bed so it would have overnight to soak in. So I took my makeup off and made sure I washed and cleansed my face thoroughly.
I put a few drops into the palms of my hands and put this directly onto my face. It felt really oily in my hands and had quite a strong smell but I kind of liked it it reminded me a bit of baby oil.
I rubbed this into my face and left it overnight while I got my beauty sleep. Unfortunately I found this to be way too oily for my face, it didn’t absorb as quickly as I thought (like a rosehip oil or the like would do) it kind of sat on the top a little bit and left me feeling more greasy than moisturised. I went to sleep and when I woke up it had all absorbed but I still felt a little greasy.
I used this for a couple of weeks as I really didn’t want to waste it but it was just too much for my face unfortunately and I had to stop using it. It caused a couple of mini breakouts but no irritations.
Because you were supposed to use it for a few months to get the full effects to even out skin tone etc I cant say honestly whether this made any difference to that it didn’t in the three weeks I used it.
I really didn’t want this to go to waste so I thought I would use it on the parts of me that arent so sensitive and could do with some extra TLC – my feet and elbows ! This worked a treat for those and really softened up the skin in both areas so it wasn’t a total waste for me.
I wouldn’t recommend this to the average person.
Tips: If it is too much for your face try using on your elbows and feet for a bit of etc TLC :)
My friend has been using this oil for years and she really enjoyed it. So I bought one for myself to try it out. I have used several oils because my skin can get quite dry so I have a fair idea about the consistency of oils. I find that Bio oil comes somewhat thinner than other plant based oils. I did not like the greasy feeling it left on my skin and felt like it was just sitting on top of my skin without being absorbed. I tried massaging it to my skin which made it absorb better. I was quite disappointed that it did not do much to hydrate my skin, i noticed that it was still dry before applying this product and greasy after applying it. I did try it on my stretch marks and sadly it did not help with that either. I find that like most beauty products, Bio oil worked for others but not for me.
I love bio oil, but I can understand also why others dont. I love using oil on my legs rather than a moisturiser because it makes them feel so smooth and I just overall like the feeling of oil on my skin. Bio oil absorbs nicely into my skin (particularly on my legs and smaller amounts on my forearms). I dont use it often but just use it as an alternative at times to give my skin a break from daily moisturiser. I have never used on scars, which is a main reason behind using this product so am not sure if this works on them or not. A little bit of bio oil goes a long way so the bottle lasts a long time.
Tips: Do not use too much otherwise can get very oily! Only need a little bit :)
As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my first child I used this three times a day on my breasts, tummy and back. I was horrified with the amount of stretch marks I still got. It didn't seem to do anything. When I found out I was pregnant again with my second child, I didn't bother with it at all and I didn't get half as much as my first. I know this is not a fair comparison because my body was already stretched for number one. But I am still disappointed.
Tips: Save your money and stick with natural oils.
I've had to children and used this product before bed every night throughout whole pregnancy and still got stretch marks... it is hard to say if it worked or not because it may have helped me not get as many.. suppose I'll never no but still chosen to use bio oil through my second pregnancy to.. had to put on before bed though because oil would rub of on clothing and stain. Smells nice
Tips: Be careful of clothing after putting oil on.. has marked a few of my clothing as doesn't absorb straight away
although bio oil is not very absorbent and stays on the skin for a while, i found it worked really well at making scars less noticeable! i use it every night and have really seen a difference! it has taken down any redness around scars, but also making the white scar itself disappear slowly. The oil also hydrates your skin well if you have dry skin, which i find really helps me. i often just use it as a moisturizer also.100% recommend! also watch out for clothing as the oil can stain it!
I suffered from a third degree burn one year from deep fryer oil. My nan told me to rub bio oil on it every day. Id never heard of bio oil before but im now barely scarred. Both my mum and my oma were amazed at the results of using bio oil. As I am myself would recommend for anyone who has scars from burns :-)
Tips: Great makeup remover and moisturiser leaves skin smelling amazing and soft
