I'm not sure if its because I have exposed myself to more expensive brands but I don't find that Boots No 7 lipsticks are anywhere as good as they used to be.
This lipstick is adorable though in its little silver packaging with Poppy King's signature scribbled across its barrel. Colour wise it has a good even pigmentation that glided effortlessly across my lips but it didn't have very long staying power, so I had to keep topping it throughout the day.
The colour I have is a browny red when on and it feels more like a summery sheen effect lipstick, that is very moisturising I must admit but its not the type of lipstick I would normally go for or wear often, I'll probably keep this for holidays when I want a pop of colour on the beach that's a little more intense then a balm.
I had the orange shade. The colour on the packaging didn't match the colour of the actual lipstick. The lipstick was EXTREMELY dry and made my lips very chapped it also rubbed off very easily while staining the cracks on my lips. Definitely better lipsticks out there.
I started noticing Boots No 7 at Postie Plus stores. I've noticed lots of different products coming through them from lipsticks through to Mascaras.
This lipstick comes in this pretty polka dot mint box. I love how cute these are packed. This lip stick holder comes in a soft silver container. Actually it's got me quite puzzled as to if its plastic or silver. This lipstick winds up and down easily. At the bottom of this lipstick is the name of this lipstick it's called Seduction. In fine print it says it's made in Italy.
When I apply this lipstick on my lips it colours my lips well. I do notice that my lips need a couple of coasts to get good coverage. This Seduction lipstick is a deep rusty red. This lippy doesn't have a scent. The colour is opaque at first but the colour does build up into a rich colour.
My results with using this lipstick is hydrated lips. My lips felt moist from using this lippy. It's slightly greasy. All up it's a nice lipstick.
I have heard great things about Boots No7 Poppy Lipsticks. I understand its a brand that is big in the UK so of course when I saw it in my local Postie Plus, I had to try it. I bought the colour Number four Seduction. Its a very dark plum colour, described as rich blackberry which is pretty accurate.
I love the little polka dot box it comes in with the lips on the top to give an added touch of flirty feminine magic. The tube itself is a dull silver colour so stands out already because most tubes of lipstick I have bought are black with silver accents.
The formula is quite smooth and satin like. I love the finish of the lipstick on my lips. The colour is intense and true to what you see. That is where all the good feelings about it stop though unfortunately.
This lipstick is very, very drying on my lips, even with lip balm worn underneath to help keep them moisturised. By the end of the day my lips have peeling bits of dry skin which is gross and doesn't make the lipstick look good on. The stay power is barely there. I have to reapply at least six times in a three hour period. It's a waste of my time and product to even keep up with the wearing off. I would rather pay extra and get a lipstick that will at least last an hour without touching it up! No thank you....
Tips: Use a good lip balm underneath
I love the sleek packaging and the click the lid makes when I close it. For the actual lipstick itself, I found the colours not very original or fun, just simple reds and pinks and the like. The lipstick stays on for 2-3 hours, less if you eat or drink and is moderately moisturising. With so many other lipstick options, I just don't feel the urge to use my lipstick (which is in the shade 'Glamour') but all in all, it's a nice lipstick.
I bought two of these when I was in Postie Plus one day and came across their Boots stand of cosmetics. Although they didn't have testers available, I took a chance at that price that the vague colour sticker on the bottom of the box would produce a colour that would suit me. I was lucky in that I really like the colours I chose.
"Power" is a brown-toned rose red, while "Glamour" is a flirty, pink. Both lipsticks apply sheer, but the colour is buildable. The formula is unscented with no taste and really moisturising, I found them rather similar in texture and staying power to Maybelline's Colour Whispers. When they do wear off, they leave a natural-looking lip without any tell-tale stains so if you don't get to reapply, there's not too much worry.
The packaging is very sleek, a shiny metallic which does make them fairly easy to find in with other lipsticks. Their smaller size also makes them perfect for popping in a small handbag for touch-ups!
I wear these mainly during the day at work for a more subtle look and think these are good if you're wanting a natural-looking pop of colour.
Tips: If you're wanting more of a colour pay-off, layer the lipstick as the colour is buildable.
