When BR offered to send me brow products I was all over it like... Cara Delevigne on brows. Although I feel far too old to be saying brows on fleek I still like to search for that product to bring me closer to perfection. Or at least closer to being OK. My brows although having nice shape are quite light in colour so I like to have something that adds a bit of colour and hold to my brows. I can't claim the success of the shape of my brows to myself though as I'm far too lazy and get them waxed every 5 - 6 weeks. I snapped this product up in the shade dark blonde, which I really like.
This brow product is so different from anything else that I have tried. At one end is a retractable gel type pencil (not as creamy as the Brow Precise) and at the other a wee sponge with powder on it. The powder is in the lid so each time you put the lid on more product gets dispensed onto the sponge. To be honest I had to go onto Youtube to figure out how to use it. Maybelline have some great videos on there with how to use it. So the idea is that you first use the pencil part to lightly fill in your brows then put the powder on top and it sticks to the penciled in parts. I found it weird to have a brow pencil without a spoolie included, but a pencil only has two ends I suppose!
I found this a bit strange to use but it did create a nice natural look. The pencil is nice and small so makes for easy application of small strokes. My one big problem with this product was I got a wee bit of fall out with the powder end and as it was so pigmented that even if I tiny bit dropped onto your face it is quite hard to flick off without ending up with a line of colour across my face (especially when I do my brows after doing the rest of my face makeup). I also found that the sponge didn't make for a particularly accurate way of applying the powder either. It meant I had to clean up a wee bit around the edges. I did like it though and I think it makes for a easy and natural looking way of filling in your brows if you had sparse parts. For me though I found the two steps too much work just to add colour as I felt they still weren't set in place. I would much rather use just a creamy pencil, or a brow powder by itself.
Interesting product to try out, but it won't be one that gets added to my everyday routine. I do think this could be great for those that are filling in some more sparse parts though.
When I saw this on TV, I got pretty excited because I am a sucker for products that are a two-step process, I don't know why but they just really appeal to me.
I have the darkest shade this comes in, and the packaging is really sleek and simple. It comes in a plastic casing, with a dark lid on each side so you can't tell which end is which is a bit of a pain. But what really bugs me with this product is the fact that one lid twists off and one lid pops off so I’ll be yanking at my lid, and it does nothing because it’s the screw off one. I find it so confusing. I wish they were the same (in regards to twisting/popping off) but I assume they are different to distinguish which end is which but I don't think it does that well.
One end has a pencil which I really like. The size is something I'm used to working with so I found it easy to create the look I wanted with small strokes as well as more defined lines.
The other end has a white sponge tip and you simply push down on the tip to release the powder. I found I had to push down a few times for the powder to start coming out but that was only the first time. I do find the click-type dispenser a bit gimmicky, but I don't know how else they could design it. I think this end is a good idea because it smooths out harsh lines and fills in other gaps which are perfect.
Overall, I really like this product and it is my favourite brow product from Maybelline. It gives my brows a filled out look, and can be quite natural depending on how you blend and fill your brows out.
