I received the shade 109 Ebony as part of a BR trial. This retractable brow pencil was easy to hold and use with a standard spoolie brush on the other side to help blend and comb brow hair. The most distinctive feature of this pencil was the teardrop shape of the product, this meant I could be more precise with my application near the top and the widest part of the teardrop would be just like the usual brown pencil where I was filling in any gaps.

I really like this product, loved that it was all in one - so convenient! I really liked the angled tip to draw in fine lines and fuller end to fill in the gaps. The brush end smoothed it all out and gave a very natural look.
The only con I found was that it didn't last as long as my usual brow products. I applied it early in the morning with my general make up routine and using fixative. But was surprised there was no trace of it left at the end of the day when the rest of my face stayed intact.
Tips: Be prepared to take it with you and touch up during the day.
I didn't have too high hopes for this product, I'm really particular about brow products because a lot of products wear away on my oily skin. I have to admit, I'm super impressed with this product. The formula was pigmented yet soft enough to use and I like the fact you could control how 'fierce' you wanted your brows to look! Something I'll definitely consider buying.
Tips: Don't be too heavy handed, use a small amount first and then brush out.
I got this in the shade Ebony. My eyebrows are dark brown, but many eyebrow pencils are too orange-toned. I prefer grey-browns, and while the lid of this looks more orange, I was pleasantly surprised by how cool-toned it was and how much it matches my brows.
I love that I don't have to sharpen it and can simply twist up. The teardrop shaped tip is great for creating short shart strokes.
However, I found that the brush on the other end was a little short for my liking. I made do, but it was the only down-side of this pencil.
Tips: Make sure you brush it out well for a natural look!
L'Oreal Paris Brow Artist Xpert in 'Warm Brunette' is a rich chocolate brown. I thought that this colour may have been too light for my naturally dark (almost black) eyebrows, but after it had been applied and blended, it looked really natural.
The applicator tube is cylindrical in appearance, with a spoolie shaped styling brush on one end (for shaping and blending) and the eyebrow pencil on the other side. Once the coloured cap is removed, it reveals a triangular shaped tube end, with a triangular shaped mechanical eyebrow pencil. I'm not sure why they made this pencil triangular shaped, as after the first use the triangle ended up with a soft round point, and every use after that was basically a soft round tip with a sharp unused triangle base underneath. An expensive marketing gimmick, if you ask me, as I'm basically now applying a rounded pencil to my brows each time I use it.
Anyway, triangles and rounded tips aside, this wind-up pencil is really easy to use, it blends beautifully and looks extremely natural. I'll definitely be purchasing another one when this one runs out.
Tips: Apply with a light hand, the pencil is really soft
I have a lot of experience with brow pencils, specifically the retractable pencil kind. I prefer this type of brow product, as I am not really the hugest fan of the super sharp perfect brow, I like to be a little on the more natural side.
Although the shade sent was unfortunately wrong for me ( it's brunette -I am blonde) I still tested the formula, and did a full brow trial on my boyfriend (dedicated to the trial much?). The formula glides on evenly, and can be made darker or lighter by adjusting the pressure upon application. The head of the pencil is thicker at one end and thinner at the other, so you can definitely switch sides for your desired line thickness, but as standard with this type of product it's never going to be as precise as a very thin brush. It fills in well, and is very forgiving in that you don't end up with two fat slugs for eyebrows even if you do go over the same area maybe one too many times. It has a brush on the other end, although I personally found it to perhaps not be quite bushy enough to achieve the best shape, but it still works nonetheless. Given that the brush and pencil and two-in-one, it of course is perfect for travelling with, or just carrying in the handbag for touch ups during the day/night.
This product is great for those who like to do a quick brow fill-in, but it can definitely transition to a night time look; with more brushing and precision when doing the application. This also has the added benefit of being easy for beginners to use, but being totally fine for the more experienced make-up user.
Overall, the product isn't necessarily all that different from everything else similar on the market, so the price point could be a factor in whether I would re-purchase this myself. It's certainly a great little eyebrow pencil and brush, and I find it to be a super convenient product, that is suitable for pretty much everyone.
Tips: Adjust the pressure. for lighter strokes, or for more depth and pigment. Use a light pressure at the beginning of the brows to fade into a deeper and darker colour towards the ends. Use upward stokes facing the thinner side of the pencil up, to create natural looking filled brows - easy to do for a quick tidy up in the morning.
I'm currently trialing the LORÉAL PARIS Brow Artist XPERT in the shade 109 Ebony for Beauty Review.
It looks like a brow pencil with two tips. It's silver in colour with 'LORÉAL PARIS and BROW ARTIST XPERT' in small font on the front. It has one brown lid at one end which is the triangular shaped tip for precise application and a see through lid at the other end where you can see a soft styling brush tip through the clear lid which is used to groom brows into place and blend for a natural finish.
The triangular tip is the brow pencil part. I twisted the tip so the brow pencil tip came out. I applied it to my eyebrow with precise and easy application. I didn't need to apply much pressure and found the Brow Artist glided nicely onto my eyebrow. I then used the brush tip to brush my eyebrow hairs into place and blend for a subtle and natural finish.
I have black hair on my head and my brows are a lighter shade of black. I think this is the darkest shade in the range. I was happy with how my brows looked after trying thisa. It made my eyebrows look fuller and groomed but not overdone. The shade is perfect if you have light, olive skinetone like me. It's not too dark and looks natural.
So far, I am satisfied with this product and will keep using it daily and see how it goes. Brow Artist Xpert is great for doing your eyebrows, especially if you're a busy Mum like me and you don't have much time to do your makeup. It's good for using every day and for touching up your brows and the cool thing is, it's waterproof and lasts ages. At the end of the day, it's not too difficult to remove. I use coconut oil and Swisspers wipes to remove it. I will most likely purchase for my makeup kit in the near future once this trial product runs out.
Brows are the bane of my existence - mine are sparse and light, so rushing my brows isn't an option if I want them to look remotely natural. When I saw the creamy looking pencil I was immediately pessimistic - it looked like it would be a fairly heavy looking product on, which I couldn't hope to get looking natural with my brows.
I couldn't have been more wrong! It was so easy to apply with a light hand in short strokes - it looked soft and natural, and was easy to blend with the attached brush when necessary. Towards the points of my brows, using a slightly heavier hand for a stronger finish also worked perfectly and still looked great.
The longevity was good, too - it lasted all day, with only a small amount of general wear.
Personally, the triangle pencil struck me as a bit gimmicky - while it did allow for a little more control and find definition initially, the pencil tip quickly molds itself to a more generally rounded shape once you start to actually use it.
Overall, I'm so impressed by how much quicker this made doing my brows, and will definitely continue using it going forward.
This was super easy to Use and the colour was an awesome match to my own the brush is perfect and so is the brow pencil, easy and super quick!!
Tips: Test out the brow pencil and utilise the brush before finalising your brows
I have thick black brows which have started to thin a bit over the years so for me, this product is perfect. It is so great to have one end being the brow-filler and the other being the brush. The brow-filler is a fabulous texture and the shape of it being angled to match your brow angle means easy application. I was hugely impressed, it comes in different colours so I'm going to get it as a Christmas gift for some girlfriends.
Tips: Start on the inside of your blow line and work outwards, that way you know how much lighter you need to be as you get towards the outside of the brow.
