Maybelline Tattoo Brow Pomade Pot Reviews

This brow pomade comes in a little pottle and comes with an applicator with a brush at one end and a spoolie at the other.

This is a brow product I have never used so it was an intersting trial for me. I did read how to apply, always good to know before you jump in. I chose not to outline and went straight to filling in my brows.

Opps, they should have said do not use too much! It was quite a frightening event looking at my first attempt.

After removing my first try, I went in a little lighter with my application and the result was a bit more pleasing. After applying with the brush I went over my brows with the spooly and ended up with a great result.

I checked my brows often in the mirror during the day and was happy with the result all day long. It came off with the rest of my make up easily.

I find the more I use this the more I like it and I feel it will last a good long while.

This was a fun product to review. I have not jumped on the eyebrow makeup bandwagon, and this product won't convince me to, but not because it's rubbish, only because my brows are already pretty thick and dark, it's not required.

My findings: Medium brown 03 shade - it's darker than it looks. In the pack it does look like a milk chocolate brown colour so I thought it would be too light, but when I applied it to my nearly black brows, it still made them look thicker and darker!

The brow pomade comes in a little glass jar, the same as the eyeshadow Color Tattoo. It seems like exactly the same product. It also comes with a little brush. At one end is a flat edge brush of about eyebrow width, and at the other end is a mascara style brush for taming your mane. Both of the brushes worked pretty well. One of my pet hates of the eyebrow makeup movement is when people create a hard square line at the beginning of the eyebrow, like what they tell you to do on the side of the box. It's not natural! I experimented with the brush and used the tip to fill in a shape that was close to my natural eyebrow shape.

When it was time to remove it, I used a waterproof makeup remover, soaked a cotton pad onto my brow and it came off pretty easily.

I trialled the Taupe shade of this brow product. It's one of the lightest of the shades available for brunettes I believe. It was more of a brown/grey type of shade, which worked well for my hair/skin tone.

The product itself is a cream formulation, rather than powder and comes with an dual-end applicator - a brush on one end and a spoolie on the other. The applicator is a good size for handling. The small jar of brow colour is generous given you don't need a lot to define and fill the brows. It's a nice glass jar as well, making it easy to handle and feeling a little luxurious.

For use, I went a little heavy handed on the brush the first time and found my brows to be very dark, so I recommend very lightly dipping the brush in the product to start, and build on it from there. I used the brush to outline the brow. The angle brush with product makes defining the brow shape quite easy, and the line is nice and tidy, even for an amateur like me. I felt confident sculpting my brows from first use. You can then fill the brow with more product using the brush. The product itself being creamy meant that some of my rebellious brow hairs were tamed and in line with the others - which I really liked. The spoolie is the final step and I just brush my brows to blend and soften my application a little. The product definitely leaves you with defined brows. I'm not sure to me they felt that natural though - but they did look fabulous. With more use I've ended up filling my brows with the spoolie rather than using the brush and added any more product, and that for me, felt like a more natural look. With more confidence I did switch to my own brow brush as I felt it was better at defining my shape, and I was used to using it - but there's nothing wrong with the one provided either.

The best bit with this product is that the cream doesn't smudge or wear off through the day. By the end of the day my brows looked the same as they did first thing. Love it!

Removal - like the lip ink, the 'stay-put' type products seem remove well with micellar water and a cotton wipe, so I tend to remove my brow product same time as eye makeup and lippy and then cleanse all over. It's relatively easy to remove with this regime.

All in all I like the product. I think for me, it took a little while to master a look that I felt comfortable with, but that's the great thing about the product - it's buildable, so you can start light, and build on it from there. There's a lot of product when you consider how much you use when applying, so I do wonder if it dries out over time. Time will tell.

All in all another great Maybelline product

I've used brow pomades before and I prefer the more precise control I have with a pencil. Nothing has changed for me using this product, unfortunately.

The box this comes in is ridiculously large, at 4x the size of the pomade pot. I get that this is to include the brush, but it seems so wasteful. At least it's cardboard and might be recycled, I guess.

The glass jar housing the pomade is a generous size, and features a screw cap, making it easy to access.

I got shade 03, Medium Brown, which is a light medium that works okay with my dark brows; I don't like super dark brow products as it all gets a bit MUCH.

The formula is really creamy and you only need the tiniest amount on the brush. Interestingly, I hated the brush that came with the palette, but quite like this one. Having a small brow brush and spoolie in one is super handy, and I'll keep this for travel.

I find the creaminess of the pomade makes it move around a lot on application and i have to take a miniscule dot and work it in to my brows, then use concealer to tidy a bit. This is why I dont' love it. It's possibly a 'getting used to it' idea, but this is more time consuming than pencils for me. I tried with a regular brow brush and it didn't change this for me. Pomades I've tried in the past have been less creamy and easier to work with,

Also due to the consistency it can move around if you touch your brows while it's setting, but when set it's in place until you cleanse.

All in all, I'll persist with this on work-from-home days until I feel like I've perfected it, but I've warn it out and about and not felt silly so it's really very likely that I'm simply more of a pencil and mascara person when it comes to my brows.

I have never liked a brow pomade before as they all made my eyebrows look super fake and way too dark, even though my natural eyebrow colour is black. I got this in dark brown and I filled in some holes in my eyebrows using the brush that it came with, when brushing it in it just blended the colour in so beautifully and it didn’t look unnatural or made up at all, just pretty, filled in eyebrows. It definitely gave my makeup look a more defined and put together look and I liked that a lot! The brush it comes with is pretty amazing too by the way. It’s very pigmented, I only needed to just dab the brush on top and it was enough for an eyebrow, a little goes a long way, so it will last ages, I can’t believe there’s an eyebrow pomade I like, I’m used to using powder and a colourless wax on top, but this cuts the time in half for me, definitely very handy.

This brow pomade is super easy to apply! It’s quite creamy and the brush it comes with is okay. Typically I would prefer something a bit more precise but it’s overall really nice and easy to use. The texture is quite creamy and I have very oily skin so I had to be very careful throughout the day as it would start wearing off a little bit which isn’t good but other than that it was great. I have a feeling this will last for ages too as you barely use any product and a little goes a long way. It’s pigmented, and it is super easy to blend and comb out. Overall I would definitely use it again during the winter time when I’m not as oily.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this brow pomade. I really like the slightly powdery consistency and find that it has great staying power, however I find this product really tricky to work with! A little bit of this pomade goes a really long way - you need barely a dab for a whole brow (maybe more!), and I find that it's difficult to get this nice and precise and tidy. The tool it comes with is pretty handy - I love me a good spoolie - though I find that the brush is a little too wide and doesn't help with getting a decent, precise line with this. I think a thin, angled liner or eyeshadow brush might help solve this issue, however!

The packaging for this product says it is waterproof, it comes with a double ended applicator and the pottle of colour in the box. I trialled 03 Medium Brown colour. The product has no smell, which I instantly liked, and the applicator is soft both at the mascara wand type end and at the applicator brush end. I loved this product from the very first try, it's so smooth to apply and doesn't instantly dry, meaning if you make a mistake you can correct it. My brows lasted all day and night. The first night I cleansed my face of all my makeup except my brows, just to see if it would last through a few hours of sleep. Waking up in the morning I still had brows!! As this colour is probably one shade too dark for me, I only applied it sparingly. The pottle holds a huge amount of product when you're only needing to just dab the applicator brush on top and you have enough colour on there to do a whole brow. The product goes on so smoothly and the applicator is easy to use to ensure a perfect result each time. Using the mascara wand end of the applicator to tame your brows before applying the product, and then again lightly afterwards to create a natural look is definitely the way to go. I have previously used brow pencils, shadows and mascaras, but this product is hands down my favourite of all, and I will continue to purchase this once I have finally gotten through the pottle I have.

I was very skeptical about trying this product as it is so hard to find the right brown product and colour choice.

The Medium brown colour looked quite pale for my eyebrows as they are quite dark, but upon application melted in and suited me quite well (dont knock it until you try it).

The formula is heavily pigmented and a little goes a long way thats for sure, the application is quite long and requires steady hands and concentration. Not something i would do every morning, perhaps special events or weekend application, i would prefer a brow mascara (specially when you have kids). However the product lasted all day and definitely waterproof, it comes off well with makeup remover and micellar water.

Brush: comes with a double ended brush/spooly, I would use my own brush and spooly going forward however these smaller brushes are great for travel.

Verdict: love it!

This product definitely does what it says it does, it comes with great instructions on the box and was reasonably easy to use. After a couple of applications I realised a little goes a long way. The brush and spoolie that come with the product is great for application. If you love bold filled in brows then this is the product for you. I'm looking foward to trying a lighter colour as I like a less dramatic look. Value for money it's awesome because it will last for ages
