This was a product I received to review so thankyou BR. I love body scrubs so was super excited to try out one that was all natural and made close to home (yes australia counts as close to home).
This shower scrub comes in the typical bag packaging which seems to be the preferred choice for shower scrubs. The bag is waterproof which is great for the shower and has a zip lock styled seal as well as a metallic looking lining on the inside.
The shower scrub could be described as a loose, damp sugar. Its a grey coloured sugar (because of the charcoal) and smells like peppermint. From first impressions, I did like how the product looked, but did think it could be a bit wetter (if that makes sense).
I use this scrub by getting a handful and rubbing it over my skin. If i use this on damp skin, the scrub is slightly rough at first, and then becomes gentle because the sugar starts to dissolve. If i wanted a rougher scrub the whole way through i would use it on drier skin (which isn't something I would really do)
I find this scrub gives my skin a gentle scrub and leaves behind a trace of moisture, but no greasiness which is nice . I do find i have a bit of fallout with this product because it is a loose sugar mix, but its not a big deal and if I am careful its not much at all. I also find the charcoal aspect of this scrub almost.. sticks to my skin so i have to make sure i wash my skin thoroughly with water afterwards. The last negative I have is that this product is a bit on an inconvenience because it says to use dry hands to get the product out of the bag. I understand why because the sugar will dissolve when it gets wet, but c'mon! If i am in a shower using a scrub, the chances that my hands will be wet are pretty high, and I'm too lazy to dry my hands before using this scrub (sad but true).
Overall, this scrub is nice but it didn't do anything amazing to my skin, and its not something I would rush out to repurchase. Great if you are looking for a natural product though
I absolutely love the smell of this scrub! It reminds me of candy canes :) peppermint deliciousness. The packaging is also simple, cute and worth a giggle. I have only ever used coffee scrubs - so this was my first charcoal scrub. Exciting! I would call this more of a sugar/charcoal scrub. It is quite coarse which I didn't realise so when I first used this I rubbed it with a bit of force into my skin. Bad idea haha. It's a lot more coarse then a coffee scrub so I quickly learnt to apply with a gentle hand. This scrub makes my skin feel very smooth and moisturised and the sugar is amazing for exfoliating your legs - perfect my summer when you're legs are out :) so far I haven't noticed any difference to my stretch marks and scarring, but I will continue using and update you. I'm also very interested to see how this works for psoriasis which I can get over the winter months. I found thid works best on wet skin rather than dry. It is messy - so give your shower a once over before you get out. I would give this a 7/10. I do like it - but I think I prefer coffee scrubs since they are softer on the skin and easier to rinse off before jumping out the shower. This charcoal scrub is awesome for those nights when you want your skin to feel that extra but special. Also amazing for your feet!
Tips: Don't just rinse - wash this off! It can tend to stick to any dry patches unlike coffee scrub. My knees and elbows were black one day and I realised then that you need to actually scrub dry patches with soap. Don't let any water get in the bag - zip that baby back up!
