Byredo Parfums Gypsy Water Review
Gypsy Water is a glamorization of the Romany lifestyle, based on a fascination for the myth. The scent of fresh soil, deep forests and campfires illustrates the dream of a free, colorful lifestyle close to nature.

Gyspy Water is my current fragrance fall-back—if I don't know what to wear, it's what I reach for. I bought it after it blew up online a couple of years ago, and despite the hefty price tag, it was worth the expense.
The brand talks about this fragrance smelling of forests and wood fires, but I don't think that represents this fragrance well at all. To me it is a sophisticated gourmand, strong on the sweet citrus notes and lacking any woody traditionally masculine notes that would evoke a forest for me. It's not heavy or cloying and while you can pick up the vanilla notes, it's not in a cheap cupcake-y way.
With the EDP I only need one or two sprays to give me good coverage and the longevity is remarkable—I can hug someone after a long day and they'll ask me what I'm wearing. It doesn't have a strong throw but that's not a bad thing in my mind.
Ignore the name—'gypsy' is considered a slur in some communities and I wish it was called something else. As I said, I don't even really get the notes that the name is trying to suggest anyway.
This fragrance was one of the scents that put Byredo on the map and for good reason!
