Not for me!

I got this in one of the BRBB and thought really? Handbag brush maybe? Then as I used it and decided I hated it I started reading reviews.

Ok so it's meant to tease your hair. Well yes it does that. Am I wowed? No way! Like honestly isn't teased hair a thing of the past? So off poking for the positive reviews I go to see what's the bid deal here! OK so tease to add body. When my hair was long I tried this and it didn't work very well. Now my hair is short it's to short for this. I also see people loving for fly aways. So tried for this as well.

Nope Na no way. Sorry weird brush I'm just not able to love or even like you.

a miss for me

I didn't really understand how I would use this when it appeared in a BRBB and I was right - it's just not for me.

A hard pink plastic brush with short black close set bristles, this just causes my super fine hair to go frizzy. I may well be using it incorrectly, as it appears to be (as the title says) a TEASING brush....but as I don't usually have frizzy hair, hate the feel of teased hair, and and adore my usual hairbrush, I'm not really inclined to keep trying - but everything's worth at least one go :)

I will be giving mine away... i don't think it's a fault with the brush itself, simply a mismatch between my hair, my look and the brush. No hard feelings, cameo :)

Not a must have..

This was a product I received (as most of you) in the last beauty box, and I won’t lie.. When I first saw it I was like ‘what is it’? After a bit of research I found out this tool is basically made for teasing your hair. Pretty much what is said on the packet.

It comes with a slender pink plastic handle which has a point at one end. This end is great for separating sections of hair, when doing a quiff or any other hairstyle that looks better with even lines! The other end is the brush which is made of thick bristles that are reasonably tightly packed in a straight line. This is the end used for teasing.

I haven’t really used this tool myself mostly because I am super lazy with my hair. I rarely wear it tied up and just leave it down to do its own thing. I have found the pointed end helpful for certain hair styles, and its great when doing my nieces hair too.

Personally I don’t have much use for the bristle end of this brush because like i said my hair is mostly worn down. Also my hair is super thick already so it doesn’t need much teasing or anything like that for volume.

Overall, this is not a tool I need in my life, but it would benefit those of you who give your hair the TLC it deserves as well as those who want to add volume to your hair.

I don't get it! but...

I have to admit when I opened my BRBB I had no idea why this brush was shaped the way it is, I did know however that I liked the spike and thought that I needed one (not completely sure why at the time).

So I used the brush to smooth my hair after I put it up in a pony tail... win!! no fly-aways... great brush... can I review it yet... uh.. no! why?! because it's not what it's used for mainly... ok, so it's teases ahhh right, ok... I don't tease my hair so that's why I had zero clue. Now I had to ask myself... do I want to tease my hair? short answer is No! but I did it anyway... because it wouldn't be fair to review it without proper use right?! Alright, so I teased... um... lets just say it works... kind of, my hair is very fine and even with texture powder in it doesn't stay where it should, and slid back to normal quite quickly.

The one saving grace for this brush is sectioning for colouring. It works well and I can smooth any strays in easily. So I found a home for it with my Fudge colours kit.

It's not the sort of brush everybody needs but it has it's uses. I am sure I will find more ways to utilize it in the future.

Cameo teasing brush

I got this in a BRBB and put it to the side. I fight to keep knots out of my hair than put them in, so not my ideal product but in the interest of testing it I did.

Once removed from its cardboard backing the bright pink brush has a long pointy separator at one end and a 3 row set of bristles to tease with. Taking a length of hair I moved the brush up my hair to tease. The resulting was something that I was please with. The teasing was gentle with the brush and gave a nice little lift for the hair that I put over the bump. Once I had had enough I use the brush to slowly take out the teased hair. I did find a use for it however by spraying the bristles with hairspray and tidying the straggling short hairs when doing high ponytails or other styles where my hair is well off my face. Not quite what the manufacturer had planned but works for me. I also found out that if I don't wash my hair and let all the natural oils go through, it works like a normal hair brush but smaller. I might try that with an oil hair mask at some point.

Not something I would repurchase even as a gift but I would look at other cameo items based on this one.

Not particularly useful

Like a lot of people I received this in my BRBB. I knew what it was straight away, but I don't really have much use for it in my collection.

This has an uber bright pink with small sparkles plastic handle. The bristles are black and tightly packed. Didn't have any problems with them falling out or anything. I do really like that the end is pointed so it makes it easier to make a part in your hair.

The tightly packed bristles make it easy to back comb your hair and have a really nice effect. Also great for smoothing down some hairs if you are doing a sleek look. Great that this has multiple uses.

Overall though I mainly just wear my hair down and straightened most days. So for me I don't really have an everyday (or even often) use for this so it won't be staying in my collection long term.

Handy teasing brush

When I spotted this in the March BRBB I was excited and couldn't wait to try it out. Now I have thick wavy hair - how much more volume do I need? I've always wanted to try the half up pony or loose bun with a bit of volume so now was my chance.

I was a tad too keen and went straight into teasing - how hard could it be? Well if you don't know what you're doing then it'll look like a mess which is exactly how mine looked. Needless to say I put the teasing brush down and checked out a tutorial or 5!

It's a lightweight pink brush with a groove in the middle of the handle which is great for grip and a pointy tip for sectioning your hair. I don't have anything to compare this brush to but I do like it. The bristles are clustered very close to each other so it does a good job of smoothing out the hair.

Initially I created more knots than actual volume but eventually I got the hang of starting high and using small strokes until I reached my roots. I wouldn't do too much because I'm not trying to bring back the beehive at my age but it's a nice change from usual hair styles - loose curls, sleek straight, braid, bun. I'm still not the best at teasing my hair but I'm quite happy to have this for those days or nights.

Aww thanks for that :) Hmm I might have to check out a few tutorials to see what this actually involves. I'm prepared for a massive bird's nest based on my lack of skill haha.

Not just for teasing!

I got this in the BRBB like most of the lovelies on here. I never really needed it because I have quite short hair with shaved sides. I love the Cameo brand itself for brushes and hair ties so knew this would be a great product too.

I love the hot pink colour it is which excites my girly side to no end. It is a thin line of soft-ish bristles which combs through the thickest hair with ease. It has a bad habit of making my thick hair far to frizzy but I persevered with it nonetheless.

I was determined to find a use for it and finally I have. I use it to smooth my mohawk in to a neat and slick style. I use styling product and a straightener usually but with this brush I do away with the straightener every time.

It makes all the little flyaways stay in place and it makes my usually dry hair feel smooth and healthier. I think the secret lies in the bristles and the alignment. I would never have thought of using a teasing brush for smoothing duties, but there you go.

Recently I decided to go for a 1950s inspired coif. I grab the front of my hawk and brush from the top of the lengths down to the roots creating a knotted birds nest. This may all sound silly to do to your hair but when you smooth it out and get the coif looking sleek and defined it looks perfecto. It gives me a whole new look without the visit to the expensive salon in a mere five minutes. If you want to add volume without all the chemicals and potions, this brush is for you!

Tips: Use it to smooth flyaways down for a more sleek look

Does the job

A bright pink brush a skinny handle, very hard black bristles. This is a narrow teasing brush. Now if you don’t tease your hair don’t try and use it for anything else. For teasing this does do a really good job off pushing the hair up. I like getting a bit of height in my ponytail or my bun needs some volume, love a messy bun. So I divide my hair up and starting at the back of my head hold some hair and halfway up my hair closer to my scalp I drag this brush pushing hair up the hair shaft I’m holding. This brush teases nicely get good volume in what’s to say does the job. And when I’m sticking my hair up with it teased and tied the handle comes in really well for sticking loose hair in and poking my bun around to loosen up tight bits. It’s a fantastic wee tool it’s value for money.

The tool you never knew you needed

When this brush turned up in my BRBB I was a little perturbed. A plastic, pink, somewhat tacky looking brush that resembled something a 3 year old might use didn't really scream "use me". However, once I finally read the instructions and realised it was a teasing brush, I was intrigued!

I have super fine, thin hair so have done my fair share of teasing in my time, but always with a comb. Who knew a brush existed for that exact purpose! The bristles are just the right length and density to provide targeted teasing, but it's soo much faster and easier than using a comb.

For those that may not be too familiar with teasing, it just means adding volume to your hair. You just back-comb sections of hair where you're wanting a bit more oomph and wah-lah! Super babe'n tresses. It's also great for smoothing down baby hairs if you're going for a sleek look, just spritz with hairspray and brush over with this brush. I never would've given this a second glance in store but I'm super stoked to have it in my collection!

Tips: After teasing each area, before you flick your hair back to where it needs to be, spray it with hairspray to lock in the extra volume!
