I had one giant pimple to test this out on and I'm not sure this made any difference. I put this on every night and was very diligent with this. The pimple didn't change or budge, so I don't think it would treat acne, however, in saying that, I didn't get any new breakouts. It doesn't have any fragrance so would suit people with sensitive skin, and a little goes a long way!

Tips: Put it on areas that is prone to breaking out.
My skin is combination-oily, acne prone. I’ve finally gotten to a point where I only get the occasional break out and congested pores so relatively happy with my skin compared to my earlier years.
Now onto the gel - I like the packaging, it’s simple and the dispenser makes it very easy to use. It has a slight lactic acid scent and comes out as a clear gel. It glides on easily, feels quite light and leaves a slightly tacky feel.
I like the way it felt but I’m not sure I used it too much, one finger length each night for a week but it broke me out. I was getting all these white heads and a lot of roughness/texture on my cheeks and chin. I stopped using it for a week and it’s eased. I’ll try it again because I think it has a great ingredient list containing ceramides, AHA and BHA. I also like that it didn’t dry me out which is what chemical exfoliants can do.
Maybe I’ll need to give it a rest day in between. So based off my current use which lead to it breaking me out and causing a lot of bumps and textures, I wouldn’t use it again.
Tips: Rest days! Otherwise it might be too much exfoliation.
I thought this was just ok. I didn’t notice a huge difference in pore size or in my blemishes overall. Didn’t dry the skin which was nice. Not super exciting packaging. Wouldn’t recommend
This blemish control gel is a clear consistency similar to a serum and is non fragranced so perfect for sensitive skin types. I found it soaked into my skin quite quickly, wasnt sticky at all and didnt leave my skin stripped or dry. I tend to get hormonal acne around my chin area and this has helped clear it up! My skin is visibly clearer and feels so much nicer and softer.
Tips: I used this at night before bed but highly recommend using a good SPF daily while using.
I was excited to try CeraVe - having never used this brand before. I was particularly excited to try this Blemish Control Gel as I still have acne into my thirties and keen to be rid of it!
The 40ml white tube comes in white cardboard packaging, which is rather minimalist except for all of the text being repeated in multiple langues. The tube has a flat screw off lid, so easy to store and apply small amounts of product.
The gel is clear with a think almost sticky consistency, until applied to a your face. The instructions aren't clear about how much to use so I applied liberally - but clarity would be nice! The product is easily applied across the face and dries quite quickly. I didn't notice any distinguishable fragrance.
I did find it gave me some uncomfortable tingling around the edges of my nose and mouth for a few seconds, but no noticeable redness. I was also a little concerned by the many warnings about not getting this product in your eyes.
After 2 weeks of use I noticed a very slight improvement to my blemishes, but then again most of their claims are based on 4+ weeks of use so maybe my skin will improve even more over time. Will have to wait and see!
The thing I found most frustrating was the lack or information regarding what to use in conjunction with this product other than the blemish control cleanser Should I be using toner? Moisturiser? Where in the routine do these fit? Blemish Control Gel should be used in the evening only so should I use the Blemish Control Cleanser and any random toner and moisturiser in the morning and just the cleanser and gel at night? Normally products mention the rest of the routine to get the best results but this range lacks this information.
I did not know a lot about this brand when I tried this product, I’ve never used any products by CeraVe. The packaging is a little clinical, it’s not inviting sitting there in your bathroom but let me tell you the results were fantastic!
The consistency of the gel is what I would call gluggy, and quite different to the creamer texture of similar products aimed at blemishes on the skin. It is kind of surprising how far out it spreads from a small amount so start with as little as possible when applying.
There was something I’m finding difficult to describe other than to say my face just feels overall clearer, parts of my face that are not prone to break outs feel clearer as well (I have combination skin, some dry patches some prone to break outs). It’s an overall look and feel – I feel more confident with a bare face even! I would definitely recommend this product.
Tips: Use sparingly, a little goes a long way!
With this a little goes a long way and you only need the size of a pea at most for your face. This is really lightweight and smooth to apply and I love not only how it is absorbs into the skin fairly quickly once applied but also leaves your skin looking good and feeling light. Pairing this with the CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser definitely gives your skin the best results compared to only using one or the other.
Tips: You really are best to start with a very small amount ie a small pea and work your way up to the right amount for your face.
I loved this gel as well as the matching cleanser, it’s fragrance-free, lightweight and easy to use - I just apply a thin layer to where I need it around my chin, nose and forehead but you can apply it all over your face if you need to. As I use it mostly as a spot treatment this will definitely last me a really long time. It costs $28 at Chemist Warehouse but they often have specials on Cerave products so you can get it cheaper if you keep an eye out. For me this is a winner as it really delivered results, it did a great job at keeping my pores clear, my pimples came to a head faster, it really reduced the time it took for my spots to heal and left my skin feeling smooth and clear. I’d highly recommend this for anyone struggling with breakouts and I’ll definitely be purchasing again.
Overall great product, when using this make sure to pair with the Blemish Control Cleanser as both products compliment each other and give best results. Dermatologically testes which means it’s perfect for sensitive skin such as mine, I break out in eczema and cannot handle harsh products on my skin otherwise it tends to leave more damage done then good. Fragrance free also which is another tick, I found this blemish gel to be easy to use simply apply gel to skin daily and results tend to show within the 2 weeks period which I found did on my skin, Gel like texture is perfect for easy use and great to apply to skin, I look forward to finishing bottle to see long lasting results
Tips: Make sure to pair with the Blemish Control Cleanser for the best results
I used this product with the Cerave cleaner and moister and found it reduced the build up of dirt and trapped bumps under my skin. My teenagers also used it and noticed a difference after a week. Would recommend especially for younger adults
