I cannot wax lyrical enough about the CeraVe Smoothing Cream! I'm so grateful to Beauty Review for the amazing opportunity to trial this product. Having Keratosis Pilaris on my upper arms for years and not finding a decent product that actually worked was very disappointing, so I resigned myself to the possibility of always having to cover my arms. CeraVe has come to my rescue and given me back the confidence to wear singlets again, which are very much needed in the coming Summer heat. This cream has smoothed out the vast majority of my bumps, and also given my skin a much needed dose of hydration, which lasts for days. There is no unpleasant scent, and the consistency of the cream is like an ointment which is just perfect for the task. It sinks in very quickly without leaving a greasy residue on the hands, and I love how silky soft and smooth my skin feels afterwards. This cream is definitely on my to buy list once I run out, I absolutely love it!

Reviews
I have seen this in stores and really wanted to try on my super dry rough skin, so I was super happy to be chosen to try. Comes in a very generous sized tube, that's easy to use. I noticed the texture to be very creamy and rich which is fast absorbing with a smooth exfoliating feel. I used it on my face, arms and legs that were all extremely dry, especially my hands. I also suffer from eczema on my hands and I found this product helped protect my skin and lock in moisture, while removing rough spots. It smoothed my bumpy skin around the side of my face and improved the appearance of my skins texture. I will definitely be buying this product in the future and love the fact it is paraben free, sulphate free, alcohol free and free from artificial fragrance.
I think this cream complements the cleanser beautifully. It’s great to know I’m not using a moisturiser that is going to block my pores but rather continue to exfoliate without drying my skin and leaving my KP almost all gone. I did find the cream quite thick and it didn’t absorb very easily, I had to run it in for a long time and it didn’t spread far so I was using a lot of product, however it is a rather reasonable price and quite a large size so worth the money to get the amazing results. I found it quite nice as a night cream on my face and under my eyes to hydrate my face at night when it needs it the most and continuing to decrease my acne at night as it absorbs into my skin. It did sting a little bit on my broken skin so just be careful if you have open pimples. I think it absorbed well with time and left my skin soft and hydrated with the SA and HA ingredients to help with my acne and KP which has left me so confident in my own skin.
Tips: Don’t apply on broken skin
I was so excited to be part of this trial as I had been wanting to try this cream as soon as I saw it was available.
First off, I am a bit confused by this range. Is it for body or face? It doesn’t really say on the packaging but some online research led me find out it’s actually for both! I used it on my face once but it started smarting slightly so I decided to just trial on my body. I have super dry skin with bumpy upper arms, thighs and back. This cream is really thick so I was looking forward to the results.
My skin definitely felt softer, but I didn’t notice a difference in the bumps. I also think due to the consistency you need to use quite a lot of product and for the price point I’d be a bit hesitant to use this again as I have had better results with a cheaper product. It also left a residue on my skin which felt a bit slippery when showering again the next day.
Overall a nice product, there is no strong fragrance and my skin did feel moisturised and soft after using it for a few days. I was just hoping it would banish the bumps more!
It does have a mild urea scent (think cat pee...) that I don't enjoy, but I'm particularly sensitive to scents so I could just be dramatic. It is very mild though! And there's a chance it's all in my head just from seeing the word urea...
This also has quite a thick consistency, so I prefer rubbing it into my hands and then pressing it into my skin so as not to pull or drag on my skin.
I do have sensitivity on the tops of my cheeks and I definitely could feel a bit of stinging. I also made the mistake of applying it soon after waxing my eyebrows and that was a big mistake! But that was entirely my fault, not the product's.
I did still find it hydrating, and used in conjunction with the CeraVe SA Cleanser, I have noticed my skin feeling more smooth.
However, I think I might mostly use this moisturizer on my elbows and heels (I read that urea is great for those areas) once I find another facial moisturizer to replace this one.
All in all, it does what it claims, my skin and sense of smell might just be a bit too sensitive for regular use on the face.
Tips: Do not apply to broken or vulnerable skin such as post waxing or dermaplaning!
Perhaps avoid if you have very sensitive skin.
Apply in patting motions if you have delicate skin as product has a lot of drag.
This was a bit of a hit and a miss for our family. First up - it is fragrance-free (yay) and suitable for two of our family members with dry, red, rough and bumpy skin; one of of us has eczema and sensitive skin, and one with keratosis pilaris. For me (eczema/sensitive) I was not a fan. The cream was so thick and rich and really didn't absorb at all. I applied it to my eczema spots on my legs before bedtime first and awoke thinking my legs had been oiled. Jumping in the shower I could feel a film of it all over me. The next time I used half as much and still encountered the same problem. I switched to using it on rough patches (elbows, knees etc) and had a much better go of it, but I was hoping for a cream that would work in tandem with the wash to really target my eczema. However, for our keratosis pilaris sufferer, she loved it. It absorbed well into her skin and, done in tandem with the wash, we noticed an improvement in the appearance and colour of her skin (goodbye inflamed red arms). This is definitely a product that you'll have to try and see if it works for you - it was mixed success for us!
Tips: This is thick and formulated for thicker skin of the body - use sparingly.
This is a beautiful cream with a thick matte texture that spreads really well - it says no fragrance but it kind of does have a bit of a off scent. It has great ingredients like niacinamide and shea butter. My skin felt very smooth after application. I feel like its helping with the bumps on my body slightly, more making my skin soft feeling. I will say it absorbs super fast! You would need atleast 4 weeks of daily usage to see good results.
My eczema around my nose and jawline has gone and I love the feel of how smooth my skin is after applying this cream. It's a very thick cream and a little goes a long way, great to add to my beauty routine during winter. I also have seen less redness since using this cream and have been applying it to my shoulders and chest as I get body acne, no more roughness or bumps! Overall it's a great moisturiser hydrating and very effective for eczema spots.
Tips: You dont need too much when applying to face.
This moisturiser is the bees knees for my skin. I am using it after the matching body wash and having the most amazing results. I suffer from eczema, keratosis and when I’m not on my game I get psoriasis as well. Moisturisers can sting my skin and I find with my dry skin most that are effective are greasy and oily. Not this one though!! It’s lovely and thick and a little goes a long way. It’s in an easy to use squeeze bottle with the lid at the bottom to easily access that last remaining bit at the end of the bottle. It absorbs well and leaves no greasy or oily feeling and no scent to irritate you either. The best part about it is how plump and hydrated my skin feels even 24 hours after applying. I’m really amazed at how nice my skin is feeling. I actually took before and after photos of some dry psoriasis patches beginning to break out the day before I started and by day 3 they were practically gone with no use of steroid cream. So all my eczema/psoriasis babes out there it is sooooo worth trying. Definitely combine with the body wash. I’m so so happy with the results.
Tips: At the very end of the tube cut it open with scissors to scoop the remainder out. Definitely use in conjunction with the body wash it’s equally as amazing. Drink your water and stay hydrated
The packaging has a functional aesthetic in clean white and blue, an easy-to-use squeeze tube for precise dosage, and a very well-sealing, click-shut lid. Brill.
The cream is super thick, but - surprisingly - not greasy or fatty AT ALL. It blends in beautifully, leaving a soft, cushiony sort of feel to the skin – not slicky or sticky, just comforting. And at the end of the day, my skin still feels moisturised. It’s fragrance-free too, which I'm fine with.
It’s for both face and body, but as my face can be sensitive, I focused on my legs, which have mild eczema that can become scaly and dry and horribly itchy, especially throughout winter. This cream soothed and softened and moisturised them so well that I started trying it on other body parts - and then on some small flaky dry patches on my face. Miraculously, the rough elbows and knees, dry hands and, yes, even the dry patches around my nose and mouth... all gone. This SA cream didn’t just soothe and moisturise my skin; it seems to have healed it.
This is very economical; it's a big tube, and a little goes a very, very long way. If you have dry, sensitive skin, I’d highly recommend trying it. I've spent years plastering on thick, oily cold creams prescribed by my dermatologist to combat eczema and dry, itching skin. Those creams were really unpleasant to use, and didn't soothe and heal like this CeraVe cream does. I'm so grateful I got to try this! I'll be buying more when the current tube runs out.
Tips: This makes a lovely night cream for dry, sore hands. They feel amazing in the morning!
