First of all I am glad the colour matched my colour. The product does what it says it would with covering greys , and the instructions were easy to follow. The brush in the kit wasn’t the most easy to use unfortunately. I would get this again if it was more significantly cheaper than regular hair dye.

Tips: Use in combination with comb to part the hair to ensure you don’t miss any areas.
I recently tried out the Clairol Nice N Easy Root Touch Up Permanent hair color, and overall, my experience was fairly positive. The product comes in a smaller amount compared to full-sized box dyes, which is a plus for me since I've often ended up with excess dye left over from the usual hair dye boxes.
The smaller amount of product was perfect for an "express" root retouch. However, I must mention that if you have a considerable amount of hair and extensive root regrowth, this might not be sufficient to cover your entire head of roots. Those with thick and voluminous hair, like myself, might find the product running out before complete coverage is achieved.
I appreciated the product's inclusion of a list of popular brands and shades that it's intended to match. This can be especially helpful for those who are uncertain about selecting the right shade.
On the downside, the brush included with the kit was a disappointment. The short and dense bristles caused my hair to tangle and become matted, making the application process messy and frustrating. Personally, I'd prefer using the type of brush that hairstylists use, as it offers a smoother and more controlled application. You can get them for a few dollars on TradeMe or at salon supply stores.
The product's grey coverage is really good, effectively concealing my greys without leaving any translucent hairs. This is an essential aspect for root touch-up products, and Clairol Nice N Easy delivers on this front.
The scent of the product was a mixed bag for me. While the floral fragrance was not to my liking, it was reassuring that the scent didn't linger excessively after washing my hair. However, this aspect could still be improved for those with sensitive noses.
In conclusion, Clairol Nice N Easy Root Touch Up Permanent is a convenient solution for in-between full root touch-ups, providing effective grey coverage and targeting specific areas of concern. Despite its positive features, the included brush's shortcomings and the less-than-ideal scent were noticeable drawbacks. I would consider using this product again for touch-ups between full dye sessions, but I would definitely opt for my own dye brush to ensure a smoother application process.
The usual box dye I use is actually cheaper than the Clairol so I would probably only buy it if it was on sale.
Tips: Buy your own dye brush from TradeMe or a salon supply store.
If you have a lot of hair, maybe have a second box on hand in case one box isn't enough.
Consider splitting a normal box of dye with a friend who has the same colour hair as you to save money!
I love the idea of cutting down on waiting time when redying my roots and this dye only requires 10 minutes for it to develop rather then the standard 20 - 25 minutes. The in-shower rinse out is surprising quick also, after only a few minutes the dye had rinsed away completely. After drying my hair following dying it I did find quite a lot of grey hairs weren't actually dyed despite being fully covered during the dying process. It has got a slightly floral chemical scent but nothing too overwhelming, I have a sensitive scalp and I experienced no burning or irritation. It's worth noting also that no conditioner sachet comes with it, a bit disappointing at this price point ($13) and one of my favourite things about home dye is how nourishing the after dye conditioners make my hair look and feel. I would probably have repurchased this dye as it was quicker and easier then my go to color silk but since it did not dye a good majority of my roots I wouldn't.
Tips: The brush application is easier if you have someone doing it for you.
I received my package and I was excited and relieved because I had some nearly 2 inch long grey regrowth coming through. It had a small container to mix the product in, with a brush and gloves. I found the brush easy enough to scoop up dye and apply. It brushes on the product well enough but the bristles would take a bit of back and forth as the dye would push to the opposite side. The instructions said only 10 mins needed to completely cover greys, I did end up being about 15 minutes. Then I rinsed my hair. My personal results were not the best, I had the dark brown dye and I got a slight medium brown result. Regardless I was happy enough with it for a couple days but day 3 my greys looked noticeable again.. I would recommend this product for someone needing something in a pinch, it took no time at all to apply which is perfect for people with busy schedules. 15 mins before your morning shower then your good to go for work.
Tips: For touching up grey hair I would suggest leave it a bit longer about 20 at least.
Let's start with the positives. Love, love the little application brush- it isn't flimsy which makes applying the dye so much easier. The little container bowl to mix the colour is also handy.
I applied as per instructions ( around hairline and middle Part ) then applied on any other areas I could see - especially where I have grays showing and growing.
I left on my hair for 15minutes even though it states that it can be done in 10.
Once washed out and dried I noticed it didn't cover any of my grays and my regrowth is still slightly showing.
I wouldn't use this again and would recommend just purchasing a normal box dye to cover roots in between hairsalon appts.
Tips: Purchase just for the application brush to be honest haha
I read the instructions and expected this product to be much stronger than regular box dye and to smell very pungent as it would only take 10 minutes to work. I’ve used home box dyes and despite having sufficient product in my hair and keeping it on for the required time, my greys were still noticeable and some seemed unfazed by the dye, so my expectations were not high. Boy was I wrong. Pleasantly fragranced, didn’t sting my scalp and can we talk about the coverage?? Like magic! It wasn’t patchy or anything. I can’t get over how easy and quick it was. I left it on for an additional 5 minutes as my hair is black and greys are very noticeable on me, and I consider them to be stubborn. Worked a treat, looks prefect and natural, couldn’t be happier with the results. I can’t fault it, so glad I got the opportunity to try this! Love love love
Tips: Be careful of your vanity/bench staining, the colour develops very quickly. I put petroleum jelly on my hairline to help prevent staining.
The instructions were straight forward and there was just enough product to do a touch up on my hair. I had a lot of grey around the temples and at the roots. Perfect for wanting to do a quick touch up and not waste time or product. It comes with a little plastic dish, gloves and an applicator brush, you pour the two bottles together and mix it up. I got black and the mix was a golden colour to my surprise! I left it on for 15 minutes rather than the suggested 10 to ensure coverage of the grey's. I am really happy with the ease of use and the result was great, no more grey hair for at least the next 3 weeks. Would definitely try again.
Tips: If you are covering stubborn grey hair maybe add 5 more minutes to the development time.
I am always a bit hesitant when trying out new hair colours for the first time. I think it harks back to my high school days, when I sometimes used to let my friends colour my hair - often with disastrous results… Think hair ‘stripes’, orange instead of blonde - you know the drill! And, then I’d have to go to the salon, with my tail between my legs, to sort it out!
I was pleasantly surprised with this root touch up: there were no such disastrous results and it blended in pretty seamlessly with my hair. The packaging the product comes in is fresh, clean and white and the instructions are easy to follow. Just be methodical when following them - as with any instructions for any diy hair brand and colour.
Luckily, the instructions are clear enough to follow with this Clairol Nice n’ Easy Root Touch Up. ‘Easy’ is therefore an apt word in the name of this product. And it’s quick too! I was happy with the amount of time it took - no 40-minute lengthy wait, forget that! I probably did wait slightly longer than 10 minutes to cover my greys, but it would still have only taken roughly 15 minutes. So, it’s convenient, quick and easy to apply.
There were no major issues and no disasters - thankfully. So, I was pleased with the outcome overall. However, I do have a few minor issues with this permanent root touch up that are worth mentioning...
I have quite thick hair, so I would’ve preferred a bit more product to get even better coverage... There was only enough product for a subtle touch up. And, while I do think it covered my greys fairly well, it didn’t cover them perfectly. There were still a few poking through.
All in all, I was happy with this product - I just would’ve preferred a bit more of it. But it is just a ‘touch up’ and that’s all it claims to be, so this product does do what it says it will do in that regard. I would therefore recommend it to others for this particular reason - if you can’t be bothered or don’t have time to do your usual full head of hair - either at the salon or in your own home - then this is a quick and easy solution. I just wish there was a bit more of it! Three to four kisses.
I was so excited to get chosen for my first review. When I received the parcel I felt there was nothing in the box but once opened there was a small tube of colour and developer, small brush and tray and gloves. MMM!! I was in need of a new colour so this was the perfect time to test. I applied to my middle part and went a couple of parts in and around my face. The brush and tray were really easy to use and enough product to cover the necessary. I left on for about 20mins rather than 10 as my greys are tough to colour and am really pleased with the result. The Cons for this product are you only have enough product for one touch up so cost saving is nil if you are a person like me who colours your own hair. I would have expected enough product to be able to use at least three times to extend three full head colour applications to make worth while. The pros are that if you only have a few greys this would be ideal and the product and colour works well, For me I would not bother as the cost is no sab=ving si I may as well do a full head covor,
Tips: If you go to a salon for your hair colour this idea of extending a hair visit by a couple of weeks each time would save a significant saving over the year.
Well this was really better than I was expecting! Very impressive tool to do your roots in this box and the colour was pretty true to what was on the box. The hair wasn't killed it was nice and not too dry, much prefer this than bleach and only issue I had is jot enough of the product to do all my roots sadly. Will buy again but 2 boxes
Tips: Buy 2 boxes to ensure you can color your roots all over
