My teeth were looking pretty icky (I'm a coffee addict and have been drinking red wine over the winter, which doesn't help!) - I have discoloured enamel due to asthma drugs I had to take as a baby that ruined my enamel supply when my teeth were developing. I'm constantly fighting to find products that help.
I picked this toothbrush up on special at Countdown for about $10. I chose the medium head as I prefer the clean I get from that option as a rule.
The toothbrush has a fatter base, with a non slip thumb grip and finger rest. The battery is sealed inside by a cute clear 'jewel' cap at the base of the brush. The brush is operated by pressing the button on the thumb grip. You have to press directly on it, and firmly, which is great because it means I won't have to worry about it accidentally turning on in suitcases etc!
The brush is fairly loud when it's on, but that to me is just a sign of how powerful it is. When you switch it on and look at the head you can clearly see the flexible plates nestled in the bristles vibrating rapidly.
I use this more or less as a normal toothbrush, but obviously it's doing more of the job than a standard one. I find my teeth look and feel cleaner and whiter, and there is less need to intensive flossing when I use this brush. My entire mouth feels cleaner, which makes me feel like perhaps my breath is sweeter too!
I am sold on this - I like that you don't recharge it, personally, as it seems more hygienic to just be able to dispose of the entire unit every few months. I will definitely be buying another!
I bought this as my first electric toothbrush and because of the good price compared to other electric toothbrushes. For me its just a vibrating brush and doesn't do much more than I can whilst brushing manually. I get a good clean from it but would rather spend more and get a rotating head toothbrush. It is good for kids though to make sure that they get everywhere when first learning to brush properly. My son has one and his teeth are perfect besides he finds it a novelty to use which is a plus. It gathers water and toothpaste residue in the crevices which is annoying to clean all the time and unhygienic in my opinion. I would use it if there weren't any other good electric toothbrushes but it doesn't do anything different from what I can do manually brushing myself.
Tips: Clean regularly to avoid toothpaste build up in the crevices
