My daughter was actually given this set for her Birthday and I decided to try it out a few weeks ago and love the colours - even people at work commented on how nice my nails looked - easy to apply and dries very quickly and loved the little heart shaped prints were in the kit. The nail polish was easy to apply.

I was very excited to try this kit as i am not an expert at painting my nails. Found the nail polish easy to apply, went on smoothly with no streaks but took ages to dry. The effect of having black as the main colour and the glitter tips was bold and stood out. Having the stickers to do the different shapes of tips was also quite quirky. The top and bottom clear coat was fast drying and very shiny. Would try this again with another colour as the base colour as black is'nt my favourite.
Tips: Only apply thin layers so it cuts drying time
I'm a fan of nail art. I like to try be creative when it comes to nail art, so when I saw this product I knew I just had to try it. It is really great that the Orly French Mani Foil FX set contains everything you need, from the base/top coat to the nail strips which has 20 rounded and 20 pointed ends.
Application: It really is a great product and straight forward to use. There were a few occasions when the Silver polish seeped a tiny bit under the nail strips. When this did happen I just lightly went back over the polish with the blue. One con for me about the product was drying time. It really took a while until I could start the next process - so make sure that you have plenty of time (1.5 - 2hrs) put aside to dedicate to this.
How long it lasts: I am going into my 3rd day with no chips thus far, and it still looks pretty good.
Overall it is a great product and pretty easy to use. Check out my pic of the outcome on BR FB page :)
Tips: * If possible get a friend to help, as it can be a little tricky getting your nails strips in the right place. * Put aside a few hours to dedicate to this
ENJOY!
I love how you can do so many different designs with the triangle and half moon shapes. i do have pics of my nails all diff designs but i dont know how to upload them. the colour is awesome! i had so many people comment on my nails and i have already told them all about Orly The Original French Manicure Foil. :-) Only downside is...It does take quite a while to dry. once you think its dry give it another 10 mins. i thought it was dry so put top coat on and it smudged everywhere.

When I got this kit in the mail I was stoked to see that it looked super easy. I am very shaky handed to even nail polish has never been a strong suit.
My kit had a dark blue as its nail base and I must admit that this wouldn't have been my colour of choice as it was too dark for my skintone. I chose to do one hand of this colour and one hand of another Orly nail varnish to decide which I liked. The blue nail polish took a much longer time to dry but dried quite dark. A stunning colour, just not for me I'm afraid. So I used a white nail varnish with the sparkly silver French tip.
The stickers are a godsend, especially the v-shaped ones as they really give a very modern twist on the french tip.
Whilst this is by no means a speedy process, its a very fun one to do, particularly if you have some creative designs in mind.
The topcoat is amazing, as both as a topcoat and a base. My nailpolish feels totally chip resistant and I'm very impressed. Not sure if i'd buy it for me, but i'd definitely get it as a gift for a fellow beauty lover!
Tips: If you're on a budget, just use scotch tape for straight lines. For rounded french tips, use cheaps bandaids, just make sure you put it on and off your hand a few times to remove some adhesive!
I was thrilled when this arrived in the mail -- it was perfect timing as I had just run out of top coat and my manicure was chipping. The nail gods smiled on me!
My kit includes a top/base coat, Liquid Vinyl (black) lacquer, and Space Cadet sparkly lacquer. The kit also includes stickers that help you to create your french manicure, 'cause ain't nobody got time for doing that freehand. Here are my thoughts:
1. Top/base coat: Seems fine. I'm used to a thicker product, so this one seemed almost watery to me. Nice and shiny though! Cannot yet comment on longevity.
2. Liquid vinyl: Wow! This stuff is weird and great! It has an odd, slightly tacky texture. Put on a thin layer and it's streaky and grey...put on slightly more and it's super shiny opaque black. Honestly you could get away with a singe coat of this stuff (!!!!), but I applied two coats as per the instructions.
3. Space Cadet (sparkly): Sparkly! Looks great over the black, not so great over bare nails. I'd recommend using it over other polishes.
4. Stickers/Templates. Two different designs so that you can create traditional french tips and chevron french tips. I opted for the chevron style. Honestly, these stickers sucked -- they were way too sticky and didn't produce a clean line. On one of my nails they even pulled off all the polish I had just applied, even though I waited an hour for base and black to dry. Not cool. In the end I gave up on those and went with my preferred tool -- Scotch Magic Tape, trimmed with scissors to create the necessary shape. Much gentler on the polish and easy to see what you're doing.
Bottles and brushes: I like the Orly rubber-grip handles! I don't like how narrow the brushes are -- I prefer a fatter brush like Essie polishes have.
Overall, really happy with the kit (except the template stickers), and overjoyed with Liquid Vinyl -- that stuff is awesome!
Tips: Skip the template stickers and use scotch magic tape instead!
When I got Orly's original french manicure for my birthday the other year, I was very excited to try it because I had never had a french manicure before.
The set comes with a 2 in one top and base coat, 2 nail polishes and some card-link shape creators. As well as instructions.
Well the pre-cut tip shapers were very helpful and I would never want to do a french manicure without them. But I prefer the natural looking french manicure to this colourful one. The two colours I did really like one their own however.
I also loved the top to bottom top/base coat. So handy to have them both in one bottle.
In terms of how the nail polish lasted. It lasted alright on its own and pretty well with the top and base coat.
I think it's a really cool little gift for someone who likes experimenting with their nails as you get 3 different designs to try, plus whatever you come up with yourself.
