It’s so moisturising it’s better than most lip balms I have used! And it comes in a wide range or gorgeous shades! The only reason I wouldn’t purchase again is that, like most lipsticks, it gets on my crooked teeth. It isn’t as bad as most lipsticks though, so I still have a tube of my favourite colour for special occasions.
Tips: Enjoy!
I received two of these Antipodes lipsticks from Healthpost, Dusky Sound Pink and Boom Rock Bronze. Nice packaging and lots of gorgeous natural ingredients, made in New Zealand which is fantastic. The colours I received were a lot browner shading than the pinky shades depicted in the photos so I would recommend buying in store to make sure you get your preferred shade. Nevertheless I have been using these lipsticks, very pigmented, not as moisturizing and shiny as I would have liked, and need reapplying a few times during the day. The colours are bright and vibrant and it's reassuring to know that if I do ingest any of the lipstick it's mostly natural ingredients. I found these lipsticks a little drying on my lips but always use a clear lip gloss over, so not a biggy.
Tips: Use a moisturizing lip gloss over top of lipstick.
I love this Lip Stick range! The packaging is sturdy and the caps don't fall off in my handbag when they fall into the bottomless chasm....The colours were much warmer looking once applied vs the swatches online, Dusky Bay Sunset is a lovely warm vintage pink on me, and the Queenstown Hot Chocolate is a lovely wearable soft brown. Both are top picks for me and I wear them a lot. They do need regular reapplication, they come off while eating and drinking, but to be honest, I'd rather reapply and know I'm 'eating' a natural product vs having a product with loads of chemicals on my skin daily. They are super hydrating and great for my dry lips. Some of the colours can be a little opaque, hence I pair with a lip pencil applied all over the lip first (West Coast Sunset was one of these). I will definitely repurchase these!
I love Antipodes skincare and was excited to try these as I am making the switch to all natural cosmetics.
The packaging is cute and sturdy - I don't think there is any way the lid will pop off while rattling round in my handbag.
I got shade 'Oriental Bay Plum' which looks nothing like it does on the posters or swatches. On me, it is a Pinky/ Blue Red and then fades to a Fushia pink. I really like the color, but it is not a plum.
I am so impressed with the staying power of this lipstick and how comfortable it is on the lips. It fades really evenly which is key - no one wants that weird outline with no color in the middle.
The color is bold, but very wearable. I will definitely buy another of these, I'm into it.
Tips: Pop a lip balm on if your lips are dry 5mins before applying.
If you want it to stay on for a long time - don't put any lip balm on.
I'm a fan of natural NZ brands and Antipodes has a great formula when it comes to their lipsticks.
South Pacific Coral: A beautiful soft pink shade of coral, almost salmon when blotted down.
Oriental Bay Plum: Soft purple shade of red, making a pretty plum look to your lips.
Forest Berry Red: A true blue based red that looks amazing on my fair complexion, giving a soft but bold look.
Colour doesn't fade for a few hours and needs a top up probably twice a day and fully re-application after eating which is to be expected of these normal lipsticks, they don't claim to be long lasting. Enriched with so many yummy natural oils these keep your lips hydrated whilst you wear them and don't stain. Whilst wearing you almost forget you have lipstick on which is perfect for everyday casual.
Healthy lipsticks that are almost good enough to eat for sure, I would highly recommend adding a couple to your collection.
I received three of these as a free gift with a magazine subscription. Although I've used and loved a few Antipodes skincare products, I must admit that i had never even thought about giving their lipsticks a go until I had these sent to me.
I got 'April Sun in Cuba', an orange based red, 'Hit Me With your Best Shot', a pink, and 'Hungry Like the Wolf', a true red shade. Admittedly, the orangey red looked awful on me and I rehomed it straight away. I wear the red on a fairly regular basis and I only give the pink a go when I'm feeling very brave.
The packaging is basic, elegant and functional. It's a simple matte black tube with the Antipodes logo at the end of the lid. I haven't had any problems with the lid coming off in my handbag like I do with some products.
This lipstick has a very creamy texture going on and isn't drying, even though it has a semi-matte finish. The pigmentation is good and one coat is good enough for colour. I don't feel like it lasts for very long on me though. This doesn't stain the lips like some lipsticks do, but I like the staining as it seems to look a bit better as the colour wears off.
Overall I feel like this is a good lipstick, but not a great one. It's sufficient for daily work duties when I have the time to reapply it. I would prefer something a bit more lasting for a night out. As this one isn't drying, I quite often wear this one when my lips need a break from some of my super drying matte lipsticks.
Ok I loved the description here and the glamour of the advertising that went with this lipstick. The lipstick itself was fairly average.
What I did like about this lipstick was that it was natural and therefore much better for my lips than all those nasty chemical filled lipsticks. On inital application it was also a creamy lipstick with a matte finish.
But onto the not so good. Not that long after applying the lipstick stopped feeling creamy and started to feel drying which wasn't so wonderful. I also found the lipstick started to get a crumbly over time.
In terms of its packaging, a nice soild lipstick tube in a pretty cardboard box. I think Antipodes do a nice job of packaging their products and I love that they are New Zealand made, I just don't think the organic lipstick recipe is as good as it could be. But I have confidence that it will get there.
This lippy has a great pigment to it and really feels nourishing when you put it on your lips. I really love the cute tube it is in. It's a matte black round click one and I think it's really contemporary. It has proven to have good staying power throughout the day as long as you touch up at the lunch break. I received this as a free gift with a purchase at antipodes and I am unsure if I would spend $34 to re purchase. It seems a bit pricey. I'm enjoying having it in my collection though. Definitely a statement colour.
I received mine as a gift with purchase and although it’s described as bronze it’s leaning more pink. I get very dry lips but this seems quite hydrating. It’s a very pigmented formula so I tend to dab it on the lips rather than swipe it. It’s quite long lasting compared to some other lipsticks I’ve tried and while I would recommend it the shade range isn’t very large. I do however really like the formula so will purchase this in the future.
