I like this powder because it's really cheap, though the Catrice one is so much better because it lasts much longer (I have quite oily skin), especially on hot days. This Essence powder will melt right off after a while. Plus I think the talc in both of these products irritates my skin, so I'm moving toward more mineral-based powders wherever I can. However, I would buy this over Rimmel, Maybelline etc because it's the same, just WAY cheaper!

Tips: I use a round sponge to apply and press in - I find the brush picks up too much product and can move base makeup around when applying.
Again another powder that just doesn't work for me. This powder has alot of white Pigment in it and is quite noticeable so you really have to make sure that you really buff this powder in well. This powder did not do anything for my skin it's very mattifying which would be great for the oily skin people but for dry skin it just made my under eyes dry and emphasized every fine line and wrinkle. Essence is such an affordable brand and much more easily accessible which is awesome. I really dislike the packing the lid broke off and only had it a couple weeks but again this brand is so affordable so of you are on a budget and looking for a very mattiyfing powder and have skim that has a bit more plumness and oils then this is worthwhile trying out.
Tips: Definitely use a setting spray to reduce the white Pigment in this translucent powder.
I really love the price of this and my makeup seems to last as well as most other powders! Lasts me a decent amount of time too. It is supposed to be translucent but on my mum who is a bit darker than me it was a little white but not a problem for me.
It's a pretty good mattifying and translucent fixing powder for the price. It doesn't leave too much white tone on your face and does absorb oil well. Doesn't last too long however but that's what you get for a $3 Mattifying powder. Great in a pinch.
Tips: Apply sparingly.
It works well at mattifying your face but you have to use it sparingly or it will make your face look too matte and powdery. The oil control properties also don't last throughout the day and you have to touch up constantly. The price is good at 5 bucks I think. However, you get what you pay for and the packaging is flimsy and plain.
Tips: 1. Only use on your T-zone or areas which look oily. Tendency to make your face look overly dull and lifeless.
In my never-ending search for the perfect setting powder (well I've tried 4 or 5 so that might be a tad dramatic) I've come to the conclusion that I don't want to spend the earth for something that simply has one job - keep the base looking how i want it to.
Enter essence 'all about matt!' fixing compact powder!
This is cheaply packaged, and I'm terrified the lid is going to come off in my makeup bag - but that's the main flaw. It's about $6 and readily available (in Auckland, anyway) so easy to keep stock of. It's a pressed translucent, rather than a loose - which I'd probably prefer - but it transfers easily to the brush and is fine milled enough that it clings to the brush and transfers to your face without mess.
On skin, it smoothes, helps mattify, and settles to create a base that doesn't appear chalky or caked on. It lasts reasonably well - after a full day I top it up a bit before I go out just to refresh my face, and it works a treat for that.
This is barely scented - just the faintest hint of a talc kind of smell from the powder.
The only real downfall here is the packaging, and for $6, as long as it doesn't break and get powder all over my makeup, I can live with that.
Tips: just buy one. It's super cheap; what have you really got to lose?
As a poor student, I'm always trying cheaper make up brands, hoping they can do the job just as well as the more expensive ones. I found this powder definitely lived up to that! I have quite oily skin, and I find most products that promise to stay matte on my skin, simply don't, no matter how pricey they are. This however does stay matte all day long, and it's the cheapest that I have tried.
The product comes in a simple clear compact with silver writing. The packaging isn't pretty and it does feel rather cheap; with the writing wearing off instantly. However, for the really low price of this I am not really bothered by that. I own the palest shade in this, and it does appear a bit too dark and orange for my skin, but I find that this is the only downside to the product for me. The powder has a cute swirled design on the actual product and I did find it a bit odd that the powder is scented; so if you have sensitive skin you might want to watch out for that. I found this blended well and did an amazing job at setting my make-up. Since using this powder, my make-up has been staying well set and matte all day. I am honestly in love with the results and I love how affordable this is. This doesn't have a huge amount of product in it as I've had it about a month and I'm already hitting pan. I can't complain much though as this was really cheap.
Overall, this definitely did the job and it's a bargain and I'll repurchase this.
I really like this product... I need to get another one because i ran out. but before i ran out i used it everyday for baking my T zone and under my eyes.
My makeup stayed on longer and i didnt really realize the oiliness of my skin come back until close to the end of the working day (which is great as my skin is particularly oily and sometimes products on me dont last past 12pm)
I was looking for a new setting powder, and for the price of this one I am pretty happy with it. I use it daily to set my concealer and mattify my face, and it does it's job well.
My concealer lasts longer without creasing under my eyes, and I can even use it to bake when I need to.
As for the rest of my face, my t-zone is extremely oily so this doesn't last too long on me sadly.
However, it does do a good job for the price. If your skin is very oily, you might want to give this a miss but otherwise, good product!
The Essence All About Matt Powder is perfect for an everyday, cheap powder. I use this product all the time to set my concealer and find that it lasts all day, although it isn't very matt I prefer that look as I like to have dewy-looking makeup. Essence is a great brand and this is just one of many great products that they have.
