Tips: I would recommend using a primer underneath, as with any other foundation. Also, the girl who sold it to me said it is meant to be put on with your fingers and not a brush.
I’m a lovers of Nars products so was a little disappointed with this foundation. It goes on well and is easy to apply giving good coverage but it tends to sticks to dry patches. Unfortunately it’s not an all day foundation it doesn’t set well so tends to come off easily if you touch your face or blow your nose.
I bought this just before Christmas after trying a few different options at Mecca for the first time. I wanted to try something different from my usual. This product glides on smoothly and I do enjoy the feel of it. The coverage is awesome, I have lots of various coloured freckles and spots on my face and I was impressed at how well this foundation gave me a smooth looking finish so quickly and easily. Unfortunately, this foundation does not set very well, even with powder. This meant that the foundation easily rubbed off onto any surface that came in contact with my face ad left behind a naked patch where the foundation was. I understand that there is to be some transfer expected when wearing make up but this made me worry too much about accidentally rubbing off too much make up if I blow my nose or if my child kisses my cheeks.
Tips: Perhaps use powder and setting spray a couple of times during the day to get longer lasting coverage.
Initially this looks great once applied and set BUT it transfers very easily and although it claims all day, I don’t think it last also as the sheer glow. I have oilyish skin and i find the sheer glow lasts way better and I never have to touch up but this creates quite easily and gets very oily. Also it rubs off easily.
Tips: Set it with powder and setting spray
I’ve been using another well-known brand liquid foundation for a few years and decided to have a change. I’ve never used Nars foundation before and got a sample of the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I loved my sample and have decided to splash out for the full-sized product! It’s the most I’ve spent on foundation but this one’s a keeper.
I have combination skin, fair to medium skin tone (depending on the seasons) and am using the ‘Fiji’ colour. I’ve found it quite easy to apply, I currently use a soft round foundation brush (the Mecca Cosmetica Double-Ended Perfecting Brush is awesome). The thing I like about this foundation is that it is what it says, it feels weightless (I prefer a more natural look than a heavy or ‘caked on’ makeup look), it does last all day which for a face toucher like me is amazing. :) I often get quite oily around my T-zone even with foundation on, and I’ve found that I haven’t been as shiny halfway through the day with this one.
I use a bronzer to contour very lightly over it and then some highlighting blush to enhance that luminous look. I’m yet to find a good setting powder which I think would actually make the foundation stay on even longer.
Overall, very happy with my new venture into a new brand of foundation, I think I’ll have to save up to try other products from the Nars range now!
Tips: Would recommend using a good brush or sponge to apply the foundation and blend well, it’s also a good one to build on so you can start out light and add further for a fuller coverage.
I’m on my second bottle of this foundation and I still don’t know if I like it. I feel like it performs well in general, but when I need it to work it’s magic, it lets me down. If I’m oily it looks cakey, If I’m too dry it’s cakey. Rough patches? Breakouts? Hungover? Sooo cakey.
If my skins exfoliated, I use the perfect amount of moisturiser and only a small amount of product, it’s majestic.
Even though it’s supposed to be ‘weightless’ it is a high coverage formula and If you’re into a more no make up makeup look, I wouldn’t reccomend it. For daytime I usually mix in a small amount of primer or moisturiser (Essano clear complexion moisturiser works well for this) and this seems to help with any of the above cakey-ness issues mentioned.
I’ve never tried it with a sponge, maybe this is where I’m going wrong. I’ve been using small blush brush by elf coz seems to blend it out a lot nicer than my usual flat top kabuki and uses less product. In saying that the bottle itself lasts forever! I brought mine 6 months ago and there’s still A 3rd of the bottle left.
If I had to choose one Nars foundation, I’d still pick Sheer Glow for everyday wear.
I did appreciate how this foundation has full coverage, but to me it didn't feel weightless, and definitely accentuated my dry skin.
Even with a primer it started to attach itself to dry parts of my face, and would flake a bit. I'm not sure if it was just me or if others would have similar problems but definitely wear it out for a while before deciding whether or not you wish to purchase it, as the flaking got worse through out the day.
Great coverage though and I'm sure it works better for people with a different skin type.
This is one of my favourite foundations - the colour match is really good for olive skintones (this brand in general), and great for oily skin. It does separate after a while so give it a good shake just in case.
Tips: It's very pigmented - you won't need much and it's best to work it into your skin.
So first the positives.... i would consider this full coverage as it says, it smells nice kinda like a warm honey smell, you only need the smallest amount (1-2 pumps) to cover your whole face. But it has so many negatives.... it rubs off with the most delicate touch.... you have an itch on your face? Don't touch it... you have to blow your nose? Don't think about it. You need to wear this all day and are prepared to not touch your face for anything? It ends up coming off in patches and its very obvious. Also the colour oxidises a lot, and the longer you have it the worse it is.
Tips: only good for a few hours
i started using this not so long ago, but i think i'm going to sell it on as it definitely does not do what i think it should.
it goes on effortlessly and blends in nicely but man.. its super high coverage. im so used to BB creams that this was a little overwhelming, and it certainly didnt make my face feel like it was weightless!
all day, i dont think so either, it tended to sweat a little around my nose and mouth, which i wasnt a huge fan of. at least with a BB cream its less noticeable (or at least i think so) but with a full face you can kinda tell its not doing the job. i also found it clung to my dry patches a bit more than i'd like, even with my moisturizing routine under it, it just didn't cut the mustard.
it removed easily though, and it did look really nice when on, but as i said, too thick for my simple tastes. i probably wouldn't repurchase, or if i did, i'd definitely thin it out a bit with some moisturizer!
