ALMAY

I was lucky enough to score this with a free eye liner for just $10.00 and I use it often but I do not so much use all three at the same time. There is a good base colour for under the eye brows the only thing is some times some of the eye shadow can fade out and not last. Other than that its a nice product and not hard to blend with subtle shimmer and no chunky glitter I would use again at the price I paid but not for the price of 28.50

For The Underwood Smoky Eye

I brought this in the palette designed for an evening look for hazel eyes because it was often mentioned as the eyeshadow used in Carrie Underwood's looks (and who wouldn't want her smoky eye?).

The palette comes with instructions on how to apply the 3 different shades and is shaped in the standard Almay eyeshadow shape (a sort of tear drop shape). The palette also includes an applicator sponge that is curved around the edge of the palette. Personally, I don't bother using this.

Underwood's make up artist recommends applying the colours wet to get that pop of colour and it definitely gives the colours a lift. An eye primer would also not go amiss to help the colours stay strong. They fo last all day bit fade quite a bit throughout the day on their own.

When I use this palette with eyeliner, mascara and fake eye lashes, I can create an Underwood worthy smoky eye.

Got the Blues

I bought Almay Smoky-i Kit #402 (smoky-i for blues) and it contains a dark navy blue for the lid, a bronze colour for the crease and a pale, shimmery blue as the highlight.

Having blue eyes, I've always avoided wearing blue eyeshadow as I have these horrible images in my mind of awful looking blue eyeshadow from the 1980's, but the bronze colour in the crease and the instructions on the back of the palette really do make applying this eyeshadow really easy and the end result looks nothing like the 80's trying to make a comeback!

The highlight colour is a little too shimmery for my liking and has to be used very sparingly and I can see that I'll run out of the bronze crease colour long before any of the other colours even hit pan, especially the navy blue.

To change my look up a bit and make this palette a lot more versatile, I sometimes use whatever eyeshadow colour that I feel like, in one sweep over my eyelid, and then apply the navy blue shade from this palette on a wet angled brush to create a winged liner look, instead of using liquid eyeliner.

An eyelid primer (or even a cream eyeshadow) needs to be used under this eyeshadow to make the colours pop and keep them from fading or creasing.

Tips: Blend, blend and blend some more to get a seamless colour gradient.

Almay Eyeshadow

I purchased this at The Warehouse when they were having the $10 deal with bonus eye liner.

The colours look really nice when you first put them on, they really stand out when you build the product up but I found that it faded quite a bit throughout the day even when I used a really good eye primer.

The colours are easy to apply and blend together really well. They have a nice little shimmer to them. I have used the colours on there own, and have found the brown colour is not over the top and gives a natural bronzed look by itself.

I love how the eye shadows are nicely set out in the packaging in that they are sectioned into the areas of the eye that they should be applied. This is really helpful especially for beginners.

I also have this in the nude, purple and brown kit which looks really nice as well apart from the fact that those colours also fade during the day.

Apart from the eyeshadow not lasting as long as I would like this is a nice product. I do continue to use this but I will probably only purchase it again if they had another sale as I think the RRP is a bit high.

Easy and Beautiful

This kit was easy to use, i used the one made for blue eyes and the shades do work well for blue eyes. U can easily change which shade you use where for different looks.

Sheer shadows not for me

I have the "125 trio for browns" (Shades of purple) I have Green Eyes and I find purple makes them pop. *1. Lid colour- is a nice lavender purple colour. It works better using you finger and setting spray. It also is a bit patch, it also feels smooth to the touch. *2.Crease colour-is a Deep reddy, brown with a tiny tiny purple colour. It does feel a little bit grainy to the touch. It applies very sheer; it works better with your finger or setting spray. *3. Highlight colour- This is a very sheer lilac colour, it is quite grainy to the touch. Works better with finger and setting spray. (Still shows up sheer but better than a brush.) All colours are nice and vibrant in the compact but when swatched or used with a brush its very sheer. When it's on your eye and you apply another colour is takes away and makes it extremely sheer. Not a good eye shadow.
