This is incredibly drying so you probably need to exfoliate and prime lips beforehand. I found that it cracked regardless, but this may be as i have lips that tend to dry over the day. It is easy to apply and dries very quickly, you just have to work fast

Tips: exfoliate first!
It definitely has a matte finish! Super pigmented but i find when i wear this that my lips get super dry and flake. The product wears off my lips but tends to stick to dry patches which can be embarrassing! Have tried lip balms underneath, on top and prepping before hand but just hasn't worked for me. Ive tried so hard to love it but i just can't :(
Tips: Would recommend to someone who doesn't suffer from dry skin
I had seen so much hype over this product so had to pick it up and try it for myself! I haven't used them in forever, I have pretty much forgotten about this product but I have it in red and orange/coral.
The packaging is alright. It has the clear tube so you can see the colour of the product and then it has a black lid. It's straight to the point and is fine for a drug store packaging. The applicator was fine and got the product on evenly without much mess.
The product is extremely pigmented. You can build it up for a super intense look or you can put a very thin layer on to make it opaque (Which I much prefer for the orange colour). The colour pay off did not disappoint!
The particular time I wore velour lips I went out for dinner and this did not budge! It stayed on throughout eating and drinking (with a straw) and did not need to be reapplied and still looked flawless when I got home. It did dry a tiny amount but didn't cake or flake for me like other girls have said it did. I did moisturise throughly before applying so that may have played a part in it!
I also found it very easy to take off with just a Kmart make up remover wipe and it didn't stain at all. I was very impressed with the product and was great for the price. However I find the colour to intense for everyday wear and this is why I probably don't reach for it as much as I should.
I own the shades par-ee, shang-hi and bada-pash.
First of all, I love the colour range of the velourlips, with a range of colours from nudes to nice deep shades. They also seem to be constantly expanding on this range.
However, this is where the positives end for me. I am no stranger to applying liquid lipsticks and found that buda-pash applied extremely patchy. Also, I found that shang-hi seemed to emphasize all the fine lines on my lips (I even trialed wearing a lip balm underneath to see if this may help).
I think it is a stretch to say that the velourlips are long-wearing. For liquid lipsticks I usually like them to survive transfer, drinking and eating tests (to a certain extent). I found shang-hi and buda-pash transferred quite badly and faded a bit even with drinking water.
I also do not believe the no caking or flaking claim as the velourlips seem to flake on my lips. I also found them quite drying.
Overall, I think there are better liquid lipsticks out there or even normal matte lipsticks that are more moisturising and long-wearing.
I'll be honest, this product isn't my favourite in terms of matte liquid lipsticks, however for it's price it's defintely a good option. There's a fantastic range of colours to choose from (I myself own 4). The let down is the formula. It's extremely drying on your lips, it crumbles off rather easily (and messily!) and you can't layer it. After you've eaten you can't just touch up the bits that have come off, you have to take the whole lot off and start fresh. But if you can't afford the more expensive brands of liquid lipstick then I say absolutely go for Velourlips!
Tips: Try not to layer it, it feels very heavy and doesn't look as good if you make it too thick.
Love the colour range! But this matte lippy has its disadvantages. For starters once applied to lips ut is very hard to get the colour distributed evenly, I have found there are always blotches where I can still see through to my natural lip colour. Secondly, it dries quickly so you have to be precise about how you apply it to your lips because like I said it comes out very unevenly on your lips. And thirdly it comes off so easily! Even taking a drink a few minutes after application it will come off. Apart from that I love the colors, so pigmented. And the smell is really nice.
I'll say first of that the colours of this range are beautiful, there is a variety of colours for everyone. I love the smell(it reminds me of hubba bubba chewing gum, YUM) and they are affordable. But, the formula isn't great... Just pulling the brush out of the tube and looking at it, its kind of clunky and not smooth looking at all.
When applying it, it is very drying and it's quite streaky. And then after an hour or so it starts fading from my lips...
I was really hoping I would love these because the price tag is so good, but unfortunately I just wasn't very impressed!
These really go on and stay on, colours are super pigmented and vibrant. I do wish there was a bit of a wider shade selection with some more wearable everyday colours (which there now are). I have ended up getting rid of mine as I really don't like how they feel on my lips. They are super drying and as soon as you eat or drink they tend to start going patchy and a bit sticky. They also crack on my lips and dry then out soooo much.
Tips: Exfoliate lips first and pop on a lip balm as these can be quite drying.
Vibrant, opaque, long lasting colour. Pretty much what I look for in lippies unfortunately not a single one of the shades worked on my NC42 skin tone. I really wanted to love them... Definitely something to try before you buy. I will be giving mine away to friends more suited to them. They were out of stock of the red shade when I bought so will keep an eye out for that and see if it's any better.
Love the formula, sad about the colours.
I have this in rio d which is an orange, I thought it would be more wearable but looks so neon! It's also very drying and if you don't exfoliate it's going to look horrible. I would like to try the red but as I find the formula drying I probably won't. I've definitely tried better formulas with similar products.
