Velourlips

There was so much hype about these lip creams that I had to go out and try them for myself. I picked one up from kmart in the shade ny-cee and it was the most beautiful shade of red. It was absolutely stunning. As soon as I got home I tried it on and I instantly fell in love.

The packaging is very simple but the actual product looks and feels like it's high quality. The pigmenation of these lip creams is amazing. They apply wet then dry into the most gorgeous matte shades. Once they've dried, they're not going anywhere. It's like a lip stain. You can eat and drink whatever you like and these lip creams do not budge or smudge. I was so impressed. They are quite hard to get off so I do recommend using makeup remover to get it all off. I use the maybelline eye and lip remover and it works wonders.

They don't apply patchy and you don't need a million coats to get the coverage you want. 1 layer will do it (2 layers max) depending on your preference.

I can't quite pin point the scent of these velourlips but they smell yummy. They remind me of some kind of lolly but I can't quite put my finger on it. I am a sucker for anything that smells good so that does make me love them even more. But when things smell good enough to eat, who wouldn't.

I have recently added a new one to my collection, it's in the shade shang-hi. The colour is absolutely beautiful. It's a pink berry shade which does take a little getting used to if you're not quite used to dramatic colours.

Australis have done incredibly well with these lip creams. I can't wait to add more to my collection.

I've seen this all over youtube too but I've hold off buying it. I think I might have to since I've heard good things about it. Not sure how good they are compared to Lime Crime velvetines though which I've had for quite a while. Thanks for this!

Good and bad

I love purely because of the colours. This range has such amazing, fun colours. Some might say that they are too bold but I love bold lipsticks. To-ki-o is my favorite shade out of this range purely because I do not have any other lipstick in such a vibrant purple shade. I only own three which are To-ki-o, Rio-D and Ny-cee and I love all of them! However I do not want to buy anymore just yet as I am not very fond of the formula. Matte lipsticks can sometimes emphasize the dry skin on your lips and these do that. I find that they are too drying on my lips and for this reason I do not reach for these lipsticks as much. They are a good lipstick to have in your collection though.

Tips: Invest in a lip exfoliater because as mentioned above, these can be drying and emphasize the dry skin so it is best to exfoliate before applying these lip sticks.

Amazing colour (with a few flaws)

Australis Velourlips Matte cream Lipsticks aren't perfect. They have their flaws and their issues. So why do I have three, bought within a week of each other? Easy.

THE COLOUR!!

These insanely pigmented, bright, gorgeous shades are knockout. I have MA-LI-BOO, SHANG-HI and TO-KI-O. I'll go through each for you.

MA-LI-BOO was my first one, and an impulse buy the day before I was due to go to Melbourne for a short trip. I put it on and instantly wanted to take it off. My lips felt odd. Tingly, and a little numb. I actually thought I was reacting. Then, I looked in the mirror. Cue instant Instagram selfie - oh my god. The colour is amazing. This is a very bright Barbie doll pink, with depth and sex appeal. It's girly but still sassy and sexy. Amazing colour, and the matte finish works perfectly with it. I took it off, moisturised my lips heavily and tried again in a couple of hours, with a much better application feeling for the same awesome colour result. Since then, I've worn it numerous times and always get comments and compliments on how bright, pretty and bold it is.

Now that I'd figured out how to 'do' these, when I realised they cost about half the price in Aussie I picked up two more. I chose SHANG-HI and TO-KI-O because not only are they in my colour family of faves, I have a huge connection to Asia (and Tokyo in particular) and they appealed to me through their names.

SHANG-HI is a darker berry pink. It tends towards red, but is still very much a pink, and is a much less bold statement colour than M-LI-BOO while still being dramatic and gorgeous. I've worn this out for a formal work dinner and been complimented on it, as well as to work and out shopping.

TO-KI-O is out there. It's a dark lavender purple - gorgeous if you suit purple tones, but quite unusual as a lip colour. This is not one I'd wear to work, but would definitely rock on a night out.

All three dry to a matte finish. This means that - and hold on to your seats here - they don't really transfer to your wine glass or coffee cup. They can also handle a light amount of food, though a bigger meal tends to fade them out a bit more quickly. The lasting is always a good thing but even more so with these because they *are* quite drying, and reapplication makes that worse. I definitely wouldn't recommend repeated reapplication - and make sure you've got a great lip balm handy for afterwards.

I don't buy in to the whole 'beauty is pain' thing, but when minor fleeting discomfort yields stunning lips, I can live with it. By the way - they smell divine. Vanilla-berry, if I had to name it.

Go easy if you've sensitive skin, but do give them a try. I'm in love - with my own lips <3

Tips: Watch where you shop - K-Mart have limited colours for $15, Farmers have the full range for $17.50 (as do other stores). Go the $17.50 route as you can swatch these. K-Mart has them sealed. If you're in Aussie, Priceline stocks them for $9.95 - and I'd just missed the 50% off special, so thank goodness I'm heading back over the ditch!

I just bought NY-CEE as well which I don't love in the same obsessive way I love MA-LI-BOO but which is a classic, lovely red that I do really like x

This must have been made for me!

I love the Australis Velourlips Matte Cream! I love this product because I am a matte girl not a gloss girl! I have this product in three shades: Nycee, doobai and shanghai :) I wear shanghai and nycee pretty much everyday! I love the matte formula of these! It goes on nice and smooth and stays on all day! The only I guess 'bad' thing I have noticed about this product is that if you put on a thick layer it will start to flake! It rolls up and gathers in the inner part of my mouth and sometimes gets in mouth if I put on a tonne of layers!

They do have a wide selection of colours and came out with five new shades! (which are all beautiful) They have nudes, pinks, oranges, reds, purples and two darker colours that came out with the new collection :) So there's a colours especially made for every skin tone!

They are reasonably priced so if you're following a lipstick trend you wouldn't have to break the bank!

I wouldn't recommend this product to people who have crazy chapped, dry lips! :)

Tips: Exfoliate your lips for a smoother application :)

Velourlips

I love love love the velourlips range. My favourite shade is doo-bai but you HAVE to scrub your lips before you apply so all your dead skin doesn't get in the way of a smooth application. I found this a liiiiittle bit annoying as I can't put it on when I'm out an about, but still is my go to for long wear lippy.

Tips: Use a lip brush to apply evenly

Velourlips

I purchased this from Farmers a wee while ago as I had heard a lot of great things about it, and because I am a sucker for GWP (got a free nail polish). I got the colour Mi-a-mee which is a beautiful watermelon-peachy colour, and smells delicious like watermelon.

At first I found it quite strange to use a liquid lipstick that dries on the lips but after a couple of times practicing I got the hang of it and the colour pay off was wonderful! Very vibrant and bright.

However this product just dried my lips out way too much. Even after using lip exfoliator and lipbalm first, I found it quite uncomfortable and made my lips look flakey.

It lasted reasonably well on my lips, but I found it annoying that you can't do a neat job of touch ups, it just went crusty! Overall a beautifully pigmented and great smelling product, but too drying for me to use.

Amazing!

I now own 5 of the velour lips shades, mostly nude shade and I love them! The colour pay off is amazing and are super matte! Only problem Iv had with them is if I rub my lips together the formula balls up a little on my lips (goes a little lumpy)

Tips: Maybe don't rub your lips together too much as formula can go a little lumpy

So Close!

When these matte creams first came out I wasn't very impressed with the colours because they were too bright and out there and just not something I would wear very often.

But when they came out with a few new ones I fell in love with the colour Shang-hi, it was the perfect deep pink/purple shade and I was so excited to start wearing it.

I found that I preferred to wear this with a lip liner just on the edges of my lips because it made it easier to apply. It was quite easy to apply, really smooth and it spread out quite evenly. After about a minute it completely dries on your lips and when I say dry I mean super dry. It felt like I had put paint on my lips. I tried putting a lip balm underneath but I found that it didn't apply as evenly as without the balm. It made my lips extremely dry and chapped and it starts to fade on the inner part of my lip withing an hour or so. However I did have a lip gloss that was the same shade as the lip stick so I put it over the lip stick after it was completely dry to stop it from moving around. Once I had the lip gloss on, my lips stayed moisturised for as long as the gloss stayed on my lips but it still faded on the inner part of my lips.

This is not a bad product, the formula just needs to be adjusted just a little bit to make it more wearable.

Matte and Long Lasting

I had seen so much hype over this product so had to pick it up and try it for myself! I haven't used them in forever, I have pretty much forgotten about this product but I have it in red and orange/coral.

The packaging is alright. It has the clear tube so you can see the colour of the product and then it has a black lid. It's straight to the point and is fine for a drug store packaging. The applicator was fine and got the product on evenly without much mess.

The product is extremely pigmented. You can build it up for a super intense look or you can put a very thin layer on to make it opaque (Which I much prefer for the orange colour). The colour pay off did not disappoint!

The particular time I wore velour lips I went out for dinner and this did not budge! It stayed on throughout eating and drinking (with a straw) and did not need to be reapplied and still looked flawless when I got home. It did dry a tiny amount but didn't cake or flake for me like other girls have said it did. I did moisturise throughly before applying so that may have played a part in it!

I also found it very easy to take off with just a Kmart make up remover wipe and it didn't stain at all. I was very impressed with the product and was great for the price. However I find the colour to intense for everyday wear and this is why I probably don't reach for it as much as I should.

Australis Velourlips Matte Cream

It definitely has a matte finish! Super pigmented but i find when i wear this that my lips get super dry and flake. The product wears off my lips but tends to stick to dry patches which can be embarrassing! Have tried lip balms underneath, on top and prepping before hand but just hasn't worked for me. Ive tried so hard to love it but i just can't :(

Tips: Would recommend to someone who doesn't suffer from dry skin
