My beauty therapist cousin helped me pick this out as part of wedding make up products (in blond opal) and I love it. Super simple to apply and super long lasting, I've loved using it at many events since. Blond Opal is also a great shade if you like more natural looking make up with a hint of glam. Highly recommended.

This melting eyeshadow with its pratical pen format, concentrated with ultra-smoothing Tahitian black pearl extract, lights up eyelids with radiance-trapping multi-reflective shine. Its “tattoo-hold” stretch texture evens out eyelids with a waterproof radiance-lift reshaping film.

I absolutely love this! I recently had a make up application at Mecca and one of my main concerns was lack of definition around my eyes. I’m not a fan of eyeliner (I gave up on winged eyeliner yeeeeears a go). So I asked to try this and it was exactly what I was looking for. Luckily you can now get Bronze Moon, one of the most popular shades in a mini for $29, so I snapped one up.
This is a lazy girl’s dream come true. You can scribble it on lids quickly, then blend it out with a brush before it’s set (I’m sure fingers would work ok as well). I then go around my eyes for definition. What I love about this method is that it actually looks like I am wearing more than one eye shadow shade. Once it’s set, it stays the same all day and doesn’t shift even if you rub your eyes (Body Shop camomile make up remover gets it off though, no probs). This is going to be great for travel as it saves me carting around palettes and possibly brushes too.
Will I be buying this again? Well the mini didn’t really last me long with daily use so I have already purchased the full size. And two other shades. Mecca currently have a Xmas set that has three crayons for around the normal price of two. Why buy one when you can have three for the price of two?!
Tips: Try the mini first or take advantage of the lovely Xmas sets currently at Mecca!
I brought this cream eyeshadow after pretty hefty recomndations from beauty influencers. Man it’s pricy but it really does do what it should and is a lazy girls dream- draw it on and smudge it out (quick!) before it sets. It lasts all day on my oily lids even without a primer which is a win. My only regret is the shade I purchased- misty rock on my complexion gives me a sort of bruised eye look, it’s simply too much of a purple undertone on me. Would definitely invest in a different shade however.
I was lucky enough to get this as a gift from Mecca when they opened on Christchurch in 2016. I drew a card off the wall and got this product in 'Bubble Glow" which is a light pink colour.
I consider myself really lucky that I got this for free considering I probably never would have purchased it myself, mostly due to the cost (not cheap at $62 each).
It's a really great product! It's really pigmented and blends really well leaving a nice shimmer on the eye. I apply it straight to the lid from the tube then blend it out using my finger or a brush. I don't use a lot at once, building it up if I need to. It works great on the eye and, once it's set, it truly lasts all day! Sometimes it can be hard to get off!
It looks great my itself or underneath/on top of other eyeshadows. It also blends nicely with powder eyeshadows.
I also love the packaging of this! It's a beautiful gold bullet and is easy to apply direct to the eye.
Love this product and considering getting it in more shades...if I can justify it!
Last year I had a wee trip to Wellington and one of the must visit places for the weekend was Mecca Cosmetica. I had heard so many good things about these cream eyeshadow sticks on YouTube that I knew I wanted one. But I didn't want to try something this expensive without actually trying them in person. I picked up the shade Frozen Quartz which is taupe light brown gold shade which I thought would be perfect as an everyday sort of shade that I would get a lot of use out of. Next on my purchase list is Misty Rock though which is a darker purple grey sort of shade (for me it wouldn't be an everyday shade but I'm sure I'd get lots of use out of it).
So the packaging is pretty simple. It is a golden metal tube. The shade colour is shown on a loop at one end of the product (great if you have more than one). The lid fits very tightly which is great for a cream product so it won't dry out. Inside the lid there is a twist up part where the product comes out of.
This is where the amazing part starts, the product is even better than the sleek packaging. I use this straight from the bullet onto the eyelid. Once you apply it you have some time to blend it out, it is just as easy with your fingers as a brush. Then it sets. And once it sets it does not budge. My eyelids have a tendency of just eating eyeshadow even with the best primers. But this stays all day! I have used it by itself, and with other eyeshadows over the top and it makes everything last longer and I love the look that it creates underneath other shadows. I think this is an amazing product. The one thing I would note is that I can feel it on the lids, it creates a bit of a tightness, I think this might be what makes it last so long. Now this doesn't bother me at all but if you are particularly sensitive to that sort of thing then it might be a problem.
Now as you may have already guessed I adore this product. I will be purchasing another but the price is a wee bit prohibitive ... but I'm sure I'll justify it to myself soon.
During a recent trip to Wellington, I found myself in Mecca with money to spend and no list. The ByTerry Ombre Blackstar cream eyeshadow pen caught my eye in it's sleek, gold, luxurious packaging. As I am working towards a smaller collection of high quality products, I decided this was something worth picking up. I decided on the shade Blond Opal, a shining shade that sits somewhere between gold and silver. It is the perfect highlighting shade that I use to brighten the inner corners of my eyes, or to sheer out with my finger under my brow bone. This makes it a product that I can use every day. The pigmentation of this product is incredible, and that is partly because it can be applied directly to the skin rather than with a brush or finger. If you work quickly, it can be smoothed out to a more sheer shade. The staying power of this product is impressive. It sets quickly, and once it has set, boy is it staying put! It won't budge, yet it will remove easily with makeup remover. There is approximately 4cm of product that can be rolled up. This, combined with such a small amount of product being used each time, means that this product should last a very long time, and repurchasing would be a long way off (years).
For $66, you aren't just paying for the product/formula. You are paying for luxurious packaging and a high end brand. On the skin this product looks very similar to any other cream eyeshadow. However the staying power is beyond any other product. It is luxurious, easy to apply, will last a long time and is unlikely to dry out. It is a product that makes me feel excited to do my makeup and reminds me of a special trip with my mother, and for that, it is worth $66 to me.
*Please note that I use this in small areas, NOT all over the lid.
Tips: Give yourself a reason to purchase this product (Christmas, graduation, etc) and it will make it a special product.
Beautiful, rich and creamy. These eyeshadow sticks are a dream to use, glide on smoothly, easy to blend and very rich in colour.
The crushed pearls in the formula almost make these shadow sticks look multidimensional with a lot of depth and soft shimmer. They are on the pricey side but a gorgeous product to splurge on for special occasions/events if you prefer to not wear everyday.
Bronze Moon is a stunning soft bronze shade great for all skin tones and eye looks and Blond Opal is a gorgeous highlighting champagne toned shade.
Tips: Can be used for a eyeliner styled look if you hold on an angle against the lashline vs holding down flat onto the eyelid for a eyeshadow look.
