I adore the BYS range of nail polish! Brought my first one in Australia and have since added to my collection. Polish stays on for ages (actually had to scrub it as well as pick at it for it to come off) which is something that's important to me when choosing a Polish.

Tips: Two coats maximum for the Matte range! Otherwise it's hard to get off haha
These polishes are pretty good, however if you can't get them on sale I'd go for another brand. I got mine on clearance from a store that was closing down, but I know you can get them from Postie and possibly online too.
The colour range is great and there are loads of finishes to choose from, including a few different sorts of top coats! (Matte, Glow in the dark, etc)
The neons from BYS aren't very good though, they are very streaky and take quite a few coats to become opaque however all the other colours are great.
The bottles are large with an average brush, and the formula of these polishes is kind of thick and creamy but doesn't dry out over time. I'd say if you can find these for cheap give them a go!
I have White Pearl.
The consistency is smooth, but the colour is thin. They recommend 2-3 coats, but two coats is ok. The second coat takes a while to dry, but I find my way around this by letting it mostly dry (give it 5-10 mins) then apply a top clear coat, wait a minute & apply quick dry drops. Then i only need to wait a little while longer and I'm good to go!
I've owned a few of these polishes and they have a good selection of shades. The bottle and packaging isn't outstanding but it works. I feel that there isn't as strong a scent to them which I like and usually a couple coats is opaque enough. They dry quite quickly which is a bonus but do chip a bit. Some are streaky so it's really hit or miss. Most of them are pretty good and sometimes there are sales. It's affordable and relatively reliable so I do like them :)
My brother brought this for me because he saw white nail polish on my gift list. The lesson I learned from this experience is don't expect him to walk into Farmers and select a white nail polish off the huge nail polish stands (OPI, Essie etc) you have to tell him explicitly what you want or he will somehow find a brand your not so sold on. As was the case here as you may have guessed.
The colour on this nail polish was fantastic, an opaque white just like I wanted to be the base to some new nail polish looks. Except it was streaky and looked like I'd used twink. Which wasn't quite what I was going for.
I will experiment with different brushes to see if I can get a smoother result. But by using the nail polish as is, I've got smoother looks from the $2 Shop.
I have to admit, these are not my favorite nail polishes, if you can I recomend getting the Essence nail polishes over these. They have a nice colour range, and the darker colours are quiet good but the lighter ones are not that great. I found I need 2-3 coats to get good coverage. These do chip super easily though so I wouldn't recommend these if you are looking for a long lasting nail polish. I wouldn't purchase these again as they are kinda expensive for the quality of polish but they have a wide colour selection and aren't hard to get off so great for kids and teens.
The colours and prices are great but it chips easily and stained my nails yellow, which I had to let grow out
Tips: Apply a base and a top coat if you use this nail polish
I purchased the two shades mentioned above on clearance from Kmart for a couple of bucks each. Admittedly, I probably would not have purchased if they were not on sale.
I do have to say though that I like i like both these shades they are such pretty colours. Longevity is about the same as other brands, they start to chip after a couple of days in but that doesn't bother me. I have come to expect that from nail polish.
It is cruelty free so makes me 95% more likely to purchase this brand then most other brands. Though I doubt I would pay full price for it, I would definitely purchase if on sale.
Tips: I didn't get any staining from the colours I used but I did use a base coat first.
I’ve used bys for many years but since getting older I’ve noticed that i just don’t reach for these polishes any more as I’ve found better. The nail polishes are okay, nothing fancy. Perfect for beginners as their cheap. I liked the shatter one they had that you could put over the top of your nail polish and made it look like spider webs on your nails. I probably wouldn’t buy any bys nail polishes these days unless it was a gift for someone younger.
I have the Neon get ink make it pink BYS polish. To the eye the bottle is attractive and so is the colour. When you open it, the brush is soft but you can see already that you are going to have to do more than 2 layers to get a full coverage.
The first layer didn't have much coverage at all and it does take a while for it to dry, same with the other layers for dry time. It kind of covers more in some areas than others so you've got to spend time evening it out more than other polishes I have used.
When the third and final layer has dried the results are streaky, it's unfortunate after all that time and has dried not so brightly either.
I'd probably buy the $2.00 shop one, you have to go through the same steps but at least you save $10.00
