I am not a huge powder user but my fit me powder compact was looking pretty gnarly, (and the lid had long since broken off), so when I saw this on special I thought I would give it a try. The packaging is super luxe, with the classic Clarins velvet red pouch encasing a shiny gold compact with the embossed 'c' on the top. There is a large mirror inside along with a thin sponge. The colour of the powder looks quite dark in the compact but is absolutely perfect on my skin (I typically wear the lightest or at most second lightest shade in any foundation line).
The powder is AMAZINGLY buttery and soft, the most silky powder I think I have ever felt. I use the Real Techniques powder brush to dab a little of this powder across my face to set my makeup and it sits beautifully on the skin, mattifying slightly but not (to borrow another companies slogan), making my skin look flat at all. This powder seems to have a little of a perfecting quality to it, blurring across some of my imperfections (who doesn't like that!). I don't tend to have oil breakthroughs during the day so cant really comment on its effect on that, but this does sit really nicely on my skin even after a few hours. I do find it is too heavy to set my under-eyes so tend to use my ELF HD powder for that area.
I absolutely adore this powder and will continue to use it. The only barrier from recommending it to others is price- Clarins is a more luxury brand and at full price this is a wee bit steep for someone who doesn't really need/use powder that often. Still at a discounted price this is a beautiful product inside and out. New Clarins fan here!
