I was disappointed with this product, after reading such great reviews about this eye primer. I found that it was too sticky, and quite thick. It didn't make my eyeshadow go on any easier, or make it last longer - if anything, it didn't last as long as it does without this eyelid primer.

Having hooded eyes has meant I;ve always had massive problems with the rubbing and wrinkles from my eye make up. SO after reading a few tips on here I decided to give this Elf Eyelid Primer a go.
What can I say, I LOVE IT!! I no longer have any problems with my make up leaving awful wrinkle lines, and my eyeline stays put much longer. The tube is small but economica, and the applicator brush can be a little irregular in the amount it puts out, but a quick rub with your finger evens it out. This is a great product I'd definitely recommend if you're having problems with make up rubbing. However I haven't tried many other Primers yet, so it will be interesting to see how it stacks up.
Tips: Worth the $3 investment 100 times over!!
I have never tried an eyelid primer, but I saw shaaanxo - my ultimate go-to beauty guru - raving on about it in some of her tutorials so I bought one! Such a good price, and it does exacly what it says it will, my eye shadow doesn't want to slip and slide and fade off anymore, and I still look fabulous at 2am after a rough night out ;)
Tips: Wait for it to fully dry, even test a patch on your eye lid. The biggest mistake is putting eye shadow on when it wet, you'll end up with a mess
Oh my...where have you been all my life Mr E.L.F eyelid primer???
I have hooded eyelids and find keeping eyeshadow on for anytime longer than a few hours a right hassle!
I purchased this little beauty off iherb.com for only $3.
The packaging is simple, a plastic clear tube with a doe foot applicator which I prefer to use.
You only need a very small amount which means that the product will last a long time, even though it is a small tube. To me it doesn't have a smell which I like.
It is so simple to use. Just apply over your eyelids and let it dry (which only takes a minute or less). It's not tacky which is a thumbs up and it's also not real thick.
Upon applying my eyeshadows, I notice straight away that my shadows aren't going to budge, it's like it's 'glued' to my eyelid.
Before I fell in love with Mr E.L.F, my eyeshadow would last up to four hours before it moved into the creases of my hooded eyelids. Now it last the whole day, I'm talking 7am-6pm when I'm home from work and washing my makeup off. Therefore it would most likely last a lot longer. I must comment how the eyeshadow never moves into my creases anymore and the eyelid primer washes off super easy too.
Am I happy you ask??? I think so. How could I not be....this is why the E.L.F eyelid primer is my new love affair. I cannot rave about it enough.
UPDATE : yesterday I worked a eleven hour shift so had my makeup on for around thirteen hours and I'm super happy to say that my eyeshadow didn't budge! :-) by the time I got home, only a tiny tiny amount had moved into the creases of my eyelids but it still looked 'fresh' after all that time :-)
Tips: Only apply a small amount and wait for it to dry before applying your eyeshadow.
While I have read so many great reviews for this product (both on here and elsewhere) when I tried it for myself, it just didn't work. I don't usually have sensitive skin but it irritated my eyelids so bad that they started developing raw, itchy and flaky skin which lasted for a month. I couldn't wear eyeshadow and had to get a topical cream from the chemist to try fix the mess - all in all, while this product may work for some it just caused more problems for me.
Tips: Be careful if you do have sensitive skin and stop using immediately if your eyelids begin to feel irritated, raw, flaky or rough.
Despite firmly believing that when it comes to my makeup not to prime is a crime, it wasn't until a few months ago I jumped on the eye primer band wagon. At first I really didn't expect too much, the packaging is very simplistic and the formula itself looks just like a white face cream but I was pleasantly surprised by it's performance.
I really like the doe-foot applicator which makes it so easy to apply the right amount of primer. I apply it after my face makeup e.g. foundation, powder, straight to my eyelid and blend it in, leaving it to set while I do my eyebrows. It leaves a white, shimmery cast to the lid which helps lighten the eye area and provides the perfect base for my eyeshadow.
I have oily skin so I'm used to eyeshadows disappearing on my eyelids but this really increases how vibrant and long-lasting my shadow is, stopping the colour from fading away or creasing.
I am so impressed by how well this performs I would happily pay much more than it's bargain price, and will definitely repurchase once this tube eventually runs dry.
Tips: This is quite shimmery alone so I find it works well to brighten up the inner eye and highlight the brow bone.
I bought up a stash of e.l.f products online a while ago including the Eyelid Primer and I'm really impressed! The packaging is basic and easy to use, no complaints there. The thing that makes this amazing though is the fact that it is really effective! For the cheap price I wasn't expecting it to be so good. I have it in Champagne which covers any colour on your eyelid and makes an even, smooth base for eyeshadow. Eye colour goes on really easily and then lasts all day without creasing or smudging. I would definitely recommend buying the eyelid primer - I will be repurchasing when it runs out!
Tips: You only need to use a very small amount which means it lasts a long time.
I love the elf eyelid primer because it's quite cheap, it doesn't feel heavy or irritating and it's skin-coloured so removes discolouration from your eyelids.
I don't like it because it makes my eyeshadow crease a little and can look a bit powdery/dry.
I recommend trying it if you can't afford anything else, but I like my lid primer by The Balm a lot more :)
Tips: Don't use too much, smooth it out before you put shadow on so it doesn't crease, let it dry
I am not a fan of this primer whatsoever. I feel like it's so sheer that when you apply it on to your lid it doesn't feel like anything has even gone on to the eye and then when I go to apply eyeshadow over the top its no different to using no primer. Each to their own I guess but this primer is definitely not for me.
I always thought eyelid primers were useless, until I decided to spend a few dollars on a cheap elf one. Then I realized where has this elf eyelid primer been all my life ???
It's pretty much skin coloured, so it does help with discolouration on your eye lids, basically how I would describe it as is something, that the eyeshadow sticks to, and perfects all the imperfections.
The applicator is very nice, and the formula itself is very sheer, and glittery. But the fact it costs a few dolllars, and it works the way it does, is a wow, I would happily pay more for this :)
