I love this kabuki brush, I use it pretty much every time I do my make up to apply my powder. It applies my powder evenly, and doesn't get clogged up with excess powder. Which is great, because it means that there is hardly any product wastage. I love the texture of this brush, the bristles are fine and are very soft on the skin. Which is ideal, considering I use it all over my face. I also find that this brush is pretty easy to clean, which is perfect as I am a girl who hates washing her brushes all the time!! haha :)
Buffs in powder nicely! I'd usually use it when applying powder products - powder bronzer, setting powder. It does not shed, and affordable at the same time! It covers a fairly large surface area making it hard to do precise blending on a specific area.
I love this brush! I don't use it for bronzer or highlighter (ummm still clueless as to how that would work) but I do use it to buff out my blush and to sweep away fall out.
There's no denying the brush is all kinds of cuteness with how compact it is. It's the same height as a MAC blush standing up and the kabuki part can span out to the size of the blush pan (unless you have a brush guard to mould it back to shape).
I'm a blush-happy kind of girl. I clown it on because that's how I like my blush HOWEVER even I recognise when I'm giving Ronald McDonald a bit of competition. I just whip this out and gently buff out my blush. It feels incredibly soft; I can't emphasise that enough but it's not too soft that it compromises its functionality. It's dense enough to be able to buff and sheer out my blush without taking it off completely. If it did; then clearly my blush needs to go!
One of the things I love most is that it doesn't lose it's softness or bristles after washing. It still feels the same and still does a great job of buffing. They're so inexpensive I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to give it a go. I bought mine from ELF (US via Shipito) during their crazy 50% sale.
I think I may use this a bit differently but it is my favourite brush for that purpose. I use this as a tanning brush for my hands, feet and face. It works so much better than a mitt for these areas and the brush is fantastic for buffing an even coat on those awkward places ensuring a natural covering! It is soft and fluffy and is perfect for buffing, if you have difficulty tanning your hands or feet, definitly give this a go. It is my holy grail and its easy to keep clean and it keeps its softness!
I purchased a range of ELF brushes, including the awful bristley and sharp foundation brush which I hate... This kabuki though- I have bought two more (one for blending my self tan, and one for my makeup bag on the go)
I was a little apprehensive washing it like my other more expensive brushes, thinking for the price it would fall apart, or lose fibres however this hasn't been the case at all. It has retained it's shape and cleans/dries beautifully. It is my one real multipurpose brush.
Tips: I have three for different purposes- it's wonderful for setting my makeup with translucent powder and equally as good for blending out my self tan! Awesome brush for a fantastic price.
This is my absolute favourite little brush for applying pressed powder. Its super thick and dense and does a great job at applying product evenly. I have had mine for well over a year now and its still in perfect condition. It washes up nicely and as far as I remember it hasn't shed at all. Plus, its so cheap! I got this in the US for about $3 but I've seen them in Kmart here for around $10-15 dollars.
Also, because it is so thick and dense, you don't get a ton of product lost up in the bristles like you do with some brushes - when I wash it, hardly any left over product comes out of it.
Tips: Just go and buy it - you won't regret it!
I love using this for loose powder or pressed. I've tried several but they weren't as thick so it didn't apply evenly or they would hold a lot of powder up in the bristles. But this is the best I've found. Good price nice and thick so it spreads perfectly. I've never had bristles fall out. Holds up to washing very well.
Tips: Well worth the investment hold up for a long time.
Love this wee brush. First use it did lose a couple of hairs but I can live with this. It made my makeup look smoother/flawless. Fabulous for finishing powder.
I absolutely love Kabuki brushes as I am a mineral foundation fan so these kind of go hand in hand for me
I had to give this one a try as I do enjoy a number of ELF products and this brush looked really nice and soft.
Appearance wise this looks similar to other kabuki brushes a short black base and white and black bristles. The brush bristles felt incredibly soft on the back of my hand and I couldn’t wait to try out with my mineral foundation.
I went about my usual mineral application, tap some into the lid swirl the kabuki brush in the lid and apply in a circle motion on the face.
The brush seemed to pick up a good amount of product but for some reason I didn’t feel like I had great control with buffing into the skin with this brush. The trick to the finish of mineral foundation comes down to buffing into the skin and I didn’t feel like this brush provided that for me.
I decided to try it for other products instead like my highlighters/bronzers. This did a much better job for me with these products as you don’t need a lot of product and just a sweep across the skin. This brush did a great job on that side of things.
I didn’t notice any bristle fallout so this was a bonus.
Its had a few cleans (just with warm soapy water) and its still in good condition.
All in all for a price like this I really don’t think you can go to wrong – but I wouldn’t recommend it if your purpose was to use for mineral foundation.
