Tips: Teach others and sound professional and cool saying it all foreign Kabuki brush obviously. Lightly tap after picking up powder to drop excess product. Wash regularly.
On the hunt for a new Kabuki brush since it seems my usual supplier has disappeared.
This is SUPER soft and the packaging says it's made from Taklon (YAY!). It's $14 from Kmart so not a bad purchase if the product didn't meet my expectations.
I like a full coverage and use kabuki brushes because that is what they help to provide so I expect it takes a while for the brush to start performing to its best once I've washed it from new.
It has shed a little and so far has been providing light coverage and I've had to use my other kabuki to go over to buff my foundation to the coverage I like.
The ferule (handle) is shorter than I'm used to so if you suffer from arthritis in the hands, you'll probably want something with a longer handle.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to tell just how good it is until I've used it for a couple of months but so far I'm quite happy with it, I just wanted to put something up for people looking at purchasing this so they don't have any unrealistic expectations that it will perform straight out of the packet and I can come back in a couple of months to recap.
Edit - 30 April 2014 I've used this for just over a month now and I've decided that it just isn't doing it for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful brush and beautifully soft but the bristles are too loose and to get any sort of decent coverage from my mineral foundation, they need to be more tightly packed.
I would suggest this is probably better for bronzers, illuminators or for those that are blessed with only needing light coverage mineral foundation rather than full.
ELF recently had a sale where you got 50% off their new and best sellers so I managed to pick this up for only $3.50 US.
I'd never used a kabuki brush before and wasn't too sure what I would use it for but I'm super glad I got it.
The brush looks really pretty and it reminds me of a panda :p the bristles are tightly packed and best of all it's cruelty free and 100% synthetic. It feels amazingly soft and I haven't had any bristles fall out - even after washing it.
The brush picks product up really evenly - just remember to tap the brush before applying product to your face to reduce fallout. I've been using this mostly to apply my Finishing powder all over my face, but I also used it when I applied my bronzer.
It blended the product onto my face evenly and easily. It didn't leave behind any streaks, it felt super soft on my skin and it's sooo easy to use. I really like this for my finishing powder as, if you use a stippling motion, you can really get the powder to settle into your skin - rather than just sitting on top of it, which I feel looks more natural and reduces cakiness.
Overall I think it's a pretty brush, it's easy to clean and very soft and durable. The next time I do an elf order I will be purchasing this again as I would love to have a backup. For $6 it's an absolute bargain - especially when comparing it to other kabuki brushes. I highly recommend it.
LOVE this brush for perfect, all over foundation cover. Perfect soft bristles, easy to clean and retains its shape really well in my choka-block makeup! I used to apply with a flat foundation brush but this brush gives better cover and uses less. The only teeny niggle is that the brush retains quite a bit of the product so needs regular cleaning (although should be cleaning brushes regularly anyway!)
I bought this after all the reviews on here, and it hasn't disappointed. It is a little intimidating in size, but really easy to hold and work with.
I use this for finishing powder and it applies powder really nicely without over caking it. If the finish still feels to heavy I can gently buff my face with the brush again and it evens my application out nicely.
An easy brush to regularly keen and 6 months on it still looks great. A fantastic purchase - must try a few more in their range.
I own 5 kabuki brushes (along with a range of large powder brushes) from various brands. I find they often cake up quickly being used as powder brushes because they tend to pick up a bit of foundation on application. My e.l.f kabuki has out-lasted the rest and stayed soft and fluffy for longer without needing a wash - which is a huge bonus because these brushes take longer than any others to dry. Definitely worth throwing some spare change at this one, you won't be disappointed!
Tips: When drying, fluff your brush out on a towel every hour or so. This will keep it from drying on any strange angles and will ensure it stays fluffy.
One of the best kabukis, has great bristles that stay in the brush and a beautiful feel with awesome coverage where you want it to go.
