Apply lightly! The packaging is big, sturdy and comes with alot of product. Classic sleek matte black packaging with a twist lid. The inside has 2 layers, with a sifter between the 2. You dont need much product at all as it quite powdery and loose (type of product, i know) i noticed minimal results and had alot of fall out. In some pictures i had flash back. Not ideal. Very affordable and you get alot for what you pay for.

I bought the pressed version of this from Kmart for around $14 and while the applicator (not sure if it’s a brush or a sponge) was missing I was pretty impressed with how hardy the packaging is. It’s a white powder and I didn’t hold out much hope but this powder is one of the most blurring powders I own (next to my Laura Mercier). It doesn’t do an amazing job of keeping the oils at bay but it does lock down my foundation and doesn’t look cakey at all. I’m loving this brand the more I use it and at less than $20 will definitely keep purchasing this powder ,although next time I’ll try the loose version.
Looked great in photos. This great power holds up against more expensive brands I've tried. You get bang for your buck here. HD powder isn't my everyday go to. But it is used regularly for nights out. Looks great in photos, skin seems flawless. Excellent find
This is absolute perfection. It stops my concealer from creasing on me and it just makes my under eyes look flawless. There is glitter in it but I make sure I use a fluffier brush so the glitter just flies off. It's so inexpensive and works like a dream It's a must have!
People purchase drugstore makeup brands and they automatically expect them not to work. Half the time people just assume this is the case but it is far from the truth! I am an avid investor in ELF and this powder has to be one of my reasons why.
Using with a large powder brush and using a small amount through the sifter, I am able to get enough to set my whole face without massive wastage like some powders can cause. Although it can be quite messy I am not to concerned about this as I feel it is all in the way you open it and depends weither you keep the sifter on it or not. It does seem to make you very matte but i find that is easily fixed with a dewy setting spray as it still pulls it off very well or left as is if that is preferred. i would definitely give this a 10/10 if it was possible. I absolutely love this product and will not be changing any time soon.
Tips: Less is more!
This is embarrassing. I actually just spent about 10 minutes writing a super long review on here about the under eye setting powder rather than this powder! However - I do own both luckily, So I've copy+pasted my Undereye setting powder to the right place and I'm starting again.
Right, Hello! Ironically I am now about to write about how this powder seems to be almost identical to the undereye setting powder and I now use it as undereye setting powder because there is so much in the packaging!
Lets start from the beginning... the packaging. The packaging on this HD Powder is incredibly ginormous and bulky! That being said - you do get ALOT of product so I suppose that is a plus. The design is the same as the other products in this e.l.f range - simple and black/white. Which I neither love nor hate.
The powder itself is lovely - it's fine and looks great on the skin. HOWEVER - I swear it is almost exactly the same as the undereye powder. In fact, I've started using this under my eyes and it does the exact same thing (which is awesome because you get so much more product!). I do like this on the face as well to set foundation or underneath foundation (if you want to do Goss's powder-before-foundation trick). It is again, a little shimmery which is a problem if you want to add highlighter as well!
Overall I'd recommend this product if you want to pay less and get a larger tub of underye setting powder - or if you want something to try the powder-before-foundation trick, or if you want a simple powder to set your foundation with! Especially if you are just starting out with setting powders and all that jazz - this is a simple, inexpensive one that doesn't make me break out (and I have extremely oily skin). Go buy it!
Tips: I apply mine with a Real Techniques fluffy powder brush if I'm using it on my face - or a small tapered brush if it's under the eyes.
I purchased the HD powder not knowing what it would be like (unusual for me) but I really wanted to try a translucent powder and I knew I already loved ELF's under eye setting powder.
Firstly I apply the powder over my foundation/BB cream and it gives a flawless result, eliminating any shine but not giving a full on matte (caked) finish- which I personally like as a finish. The powder is light and you can barely feel it on your skin. It covers any redness that may be showing through your foundation and somewhat blurs any fine lines, instead of sticking to them.
I find this powder to be perfect for everyday wear, although it isn't long-lasting. Keeping in mind I have combination-oily skin, the HD powder will stay on my skin during a normal day but I don't find it suitable for a night out, where I would have to touch up.
I do find the packaging very bulky and hard to travel with, as it tends to go everywhere, and some of the product is wasted. But if you are careful and keep the beauty puff inside the packaging, it will stop the loose powder spreading everywhere.
I use this powder everyday and will continue to! It doesn't break me out as other powders have (such as the Australis fresh and flawless powder). For $6 or under this product is an absolute steal! and I would recommend to try it as you can't go wrong for $6.
Tips: Even if you use a brush to apply this powder, leave the beauty puff that is supplied in the container to avoid mess when the lid is opened.
to be honest, I wasn't as blown away as I was expecting to be after reading the reviews for this product. The packaging is very bulky and it is quite difficult to get the product out without it spilling everywhere. I find it best to apply with a powder brush instead of the one it comes with as the White fluff rubs off on to my face.
It makes the skin look a lot paler so I sometimes find it best to apply this first then use a coloured powder to touch up the White areas. However it does give a airbrushed look and leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth.
Oh dear.... I was really excited to try this powder... The first time I wore it was to my work Christmas function last year. It went on the skin really well, and set my foundation well too. I really liked the product until I saw the photos of me the next day... I had white patches all over my face.. SO embarrassing because the photos were there for all of the staff to see :(
The pot it comes in is OK, but kind of hard to get the product out. I prefer compact powder over loose any day.
This awesome powder is cheap and yet one of the better setting powders that I have tried! Goes on a breeze and doesn't go cakey or as I have found some high def powder make you skin oily, this doesn't! The tub has easy to access holes for product distribution and comes with a cute little puffer pad. I found it easier to use a stippling brush to apply though. Awesome no white flash back to this is definitely a must have!
