There is so much powder in this container and it comes with its own puff! It is so easy to apply and makes your skin look smooth and flawless. The only down side I had was I have a bit of a hairier face and the powder made it stand out quite a bit more rather than masking it. Other than that it is an easy light powder to use.

I sooooooo wanted this to be a H. G product to replace every other powder. This was lovely to buy $, lovely to look at , lovely to apply. Then a while later (individual reaction obviously) my face felt so tight and sore. I had to apply moisturiser a few times during the day as I was at work as I couldn't remove the whole coverage..where has her face gone? SO I was saddened by my faces reaction. But I will try it again on a day where I can do a clean off straight away to make sure it wasn't a combination of particular products. Has anyone else had this experience with only this product? Theres still hope, its still on the dresser waiting for me.
Tips: Experiment with new products on the weekend.
I am not one who uses powder a lot because my skin is dry and I like my foundation to look dewy. I bought this, however, because I wanted something that would help my foundation stay on during the summer.
The packaging looks nice - it is a matte black container which looks expensive. However, this stuff makes a MASSIVE mess. The powder tends to fly out everywhere when you screw the lid on - so if you are wearing black you may want to ask someone to put the lid on for you.
Aside from that, I love this powder. It feels super silky and is milled very, very finely. You want to be careful and apply only the lightest coats of this powder as it can make you look pale if you apply too much.
I find this blends easily into my skin and doesn't cling to any dry patches. This helps prolong my foundation and makes me a little more matte, while still maintaining a glow. I love that you can still see your skin under this and I haven't had any issues with cakiness.
Because the jar is massive, you get a lot of product and this lasts a long time. I highly recommend this and will definitely repurchase it when my current one runs out.
Tips: Cut the sticker over the sifter in half (so you're leaving the sifter half covered with the sticker). This helps minimise the amount of product that sprays out everywhere when you put the lid on.
I have been looking for a powder to set my makeup as I found that powdered foundation gave a cakey look on top of my concealer. I was looking for a powder that would help to maintain my makeup throughout the day but still be affordable. I was happy to come across this product on iherb and decided to give it a go. I was quite worried about the colour of the powder if it would make my face look lighter as I already think I am pale now but it actually made minimal difference to my makeup which was a bonus! I have never used the sponge that comes with the powder as I find my flat top brush disperses the product better but I may end up using the sponge in the future for foundation. I did notice that my skin still gets oily during the day especially by the afternoon but the HD powder manages to keep my makeup looking in place even after a long day. I get a lot less minimal fade in my foundation by wearing this product and will continue to use this powder in the future.
Tips: Use a flat top brush to apply to evenly distribute the powder.
I have always read how important it is to set your foundation with powder so it will last longer but my usual experience with powders is that my face gets so cakey from even the smallest amount because my skin is very dry.
Well that was my experience until I tried this powder anyway! I bought this because I had seen such great reviews on youtube and especially from people who also had dry skin so at $6 from iherb, I thought why not?
It is a white powder but as you only use a small amount it doesn't show up white on your face. I use the ELF kabuki brush to apply mine (also another fave!). I gently buff it over my whole face, even a little under my eyes to set my concealor. It makes it my 'face' last all day, doesn't set into dry bit's or pores and also gives a nice flawless finish.
The only thing I slightly dislike is that when I open the lid, it can be a bit messy so I hold it away from me and away from anything that I don't want powder on. Otherwise it's fine, it's a big container too so should last a while. I would definitely recommend this powder to anyone, especially for someone with dry skin like myself.
Yay I'm so glad this product is on here for review. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product.
It feels so soft and silky and extremely easy to apply. You don't need a lot of it, as a little goes a long way and it lasts for ages. It really brings out my makeup and I just love the look of it when I have it on. My makeup can look really dull and then I apply this and it just looks so much better.
I love the fact that it has no scent as I don't like putting scents onto my skin due to high sensitivity and this is mineral based which is perfect for me. I don't break out with this product on my face which is a huge bonus.
I also have this in the colour Shimmer which is so good and a yellow one on the way, can't wait to try it.
Tips: The pot is massive and it has a sieve part on the top, unfortunately it does tend to come out quite fast but I just tip a little into the lid, dip my RT buffing brush, tap off any loose powder and then apply that way. Its so easy.
I purchased this because I saw an image that a friend had posted on Facebook, having used this on her bare skin. She did a close up of a before and after and her skin looked amazing!! All her redness, scaring, wrinkles etc had all gone, by just putting this and this alone on her face. I was convinced and purchased some through Iherb for $6
It’s a big compact, with a ton of product in there. But its huge! And way too big and bulky for my liking. It seems so out of place with all my other makeup and doesn’t fit in any of my makeup drawers. It sits on top of everything like a fish out of water. It comes with a patting sponge which is fine to use with the product if you don’t have a brush for it. I also like that it clicks shut, so you know!
It is a complete mess to work with however. By the time it gets to my face, and even as I’m patting it on my face, it has snowed all the way down to my toes, so be warned and be careful.
I used it on my skin alone, and I can’t say that I noticed the miracle that it I witnessed on my friend’s skin. Yup it made my skin smoother, and more even, but only by masking a whitish coat on my skin.
I then tried it over just primer. The Elf mineral infused one. And as soon as I put it on, it started to flake and come off like little the little pieces of rubber that come off when you use an eraser on paper. Yea don’t do that. Not recommended.
Then I used it over foundation. And this is the best use. Obviously. It didn’t make it cakey at all. However I find that you do need to blend it well for it to not look like a white film across the face - possibly best to not use the sponge it comes with when using this. It lasts all day, has no shine, and definitely makes my foundation look better than it does on it’s own.
Also note that it is almost grainy in consistency, but it doesn't really affect the product. It also makes your skin really soft which is always good!
I always set my foundation with a translucent or coloured pressed powder and thought I would try this elf loose translucent powder out for a change and see how I went.
As far as I am aware the whole point of setting your foundation with a powder product is to 1.) Extend the wear time of the foundation and 2.) Prevent oiliness developing around the t-zone. This product does both of these things without giving a a white cast to the face, looking cakey or drying my face out.
It is a very fine powder so buffs into the skin smoothly and easily and applies best with a large powder or Kabuki Brush.
The only downfall to this product in the packaging which is not the greatest at 'containing' the powder and makes the product a bit messy to use. The packaging is also a bit bulky, but, for the price and the results you get using the product this is easily overlooked.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this powder and will be repurchasing it when my current container is finished. I find Elf products a bit hit and miss to be honest but this is a definite hit for me, it ticks all my boxes. The ridiculously inexpensive prices sometimes set off alarm bells when thinking of product quality etc but with Elf this is not something to worry about.
Tips: Purchase off iherb.com for the best price (that I have found anyway).
I recently bought this online, intending to get the plain formula but ordering the shimmering version. When it arrived I thought it was a complete write off as I could not see myself ever going for the disco ball look. However, I did a little experimenting and found this product to be wonderful!
I find the packaging to be simple and lovely. Comes with a powder pad that stops excess product getting everywhere, so the design is practical. The pad is decent for application but I prefer to use a brush to get a more subtle, even coverage. The shimmer was not overpowering, as I expected. Rather, it gave me a healthy luminous glow that photographed incredibly well! It sat nicely atop my foundation and lasted all day. Love it!
