Let's get the thing I hate most about this product out of the way - the packaging. It's awful, it's bulky, the lid doesn't close properly, the sifter holes are too big - I just really, really dislike it. But with that being said, the product is fantastic. The powder is so super finely milled, it's silky, so silky that it almost has a wet feel to it. You only need the tiniest amount to set whatever area on your face you wish to set - a little goes a very long way and you can really over do it with HD powder (hello Nicole Kidman's MUA) so be careful when applying. I adore this for setting my undereye concealer, it gives a very airbrushed look, it doesn't look cakey and it doesn't add any colour which I love. Highly, highly recommend picking this up if you're looking for an inexpensive, effective setting powder.

Reviews
I purchased this product off of iherb because I had read so many good reviews for it however unfortunately, I have not had all the amazing results that others have had (which is often the case with me!). There is nothing incredibly wrong with this product but I'm not 100% on it either.
This is a translucent powder which comes in a sturdy black container with a small circular puffer pad. The puffer pad isn't awful, it does pick up your foundation colour a lot but its alright to use if you have to. I found that this product did set my foundation okay but what I found frustrating at times was the white sheen that cast over my face after using. I typically do not use a lot of powder to set make up and I was careful not to apply it to heavily in any particular area however at times, this white sheen was still noticeable. I have used this product with a couple of different brushes and techniques, all of which have worked alright but all still have the potential to leave this hint of white powder across my face (definitely have to be very careful to blend in well)
I'm happy to continue using this product until it runs out, not sure if I will repurchase. For the most part, it did what it said it would. I would still recommend this to a friend if they were looking for a low cost powder
Again... LOVE IT. ELF products have yet to let me down. although the puffer thing in it is quite crap, the product itself is great! Makes me look FLAWWLESS!
Tips: Use your own blusher/ face brush for this. The puffer thing in it is crap and ends up turning the colour of your foundation haha
Like most e.l.f products the packaging is basic, its on the bulky side but its on the inside what counts right?
I am a huge e.l.f fan, i have loved all the products i have tried so far, just need to get around to writing the reviews on all of them now! I love the affordability and the quality is great, this HD powder is no different.
I use it as a setting powder applied with a fluffy powder brush and it gives me a flawless finish every single time! The look lasts all day, no shine emerges even late in the day.
I suffer from chronic under eye bags and like most girls im constantly on the hunt for any product to reduce the appearance. I thought this powder was to good to be true however it isn't. The soft powder is translucent and you apply after your concealer to your under eye area. You will instantly notice a significant reduction in under eye bags and its lasting power is impeccable.
Tips: Make sure you put the small brush in a safe place so you dont lose it, also shake of the excess powder before applying to your eye area as the brush picks up alot of powder!
Made my skin look flawless in all my ball photos! it feels so light and doesn't make you look caked! Best power i have ever bought <3 <3 <3
Tips: I use a fluffy powder brush in a circle motion as i find that gives me the best result
I purchased the HD powder not knowing what it would be like (unusual for me) but I really wanted to try a translucent powder and I knew I already loved ELF's under eye setting powder.
Firstly I apply the powder over my foundation/BB cream and it gives a flawless result, eliminating any shine but not giving a full on matte (caked) finish- which I personally like as a finish. The powder is light and you can barely feel it on your skin. It covers any redness that may be showing through your foundation and somewhat blurs any fine lines, instead of sticking to them.
I find this powder to be perfect for everyday wear, although it isn't long-lasting. Keeping in mind I have combination-oily skin, the HD powder will stay on my skin during a normal day but I don't find it suitable for a night out, where I would have to touch up.
I do find the packaging very bulky and hard to travel with, as it tends to go everywhere, and some of the product is wasted. But if you are careful and keep the beauty puff inside the packaging, it will stop the loose powder spreading everywhere.
I use this powder everyday and will continue to! It doesn't break me out as other powders have (such as the Australis fresh and flawless powder). For $6 or under this product is an absolute steal! and I would recommend to try it as you can't go wrong for $6.
Tips: Even if you use a brush to apply this powder, leave the beauty puff that is supplied in the container to avoid mess when the lid is opened.
This is embarrassing. I actually just spent about 10 minutes writing a super long review on here about the under eye setting powder rather than this powder! However - I do own both luckily, So I've copy+pasted my Undereye setting powder to the right place and I'm starting again.
Right, Hello! Ironically I am now about to write about how this powder seems to be almost identical to the undereye setting powder and I now use it as undereye setting powder because there is so much in the packaging!
Lets start from the beginning... the packaging. The packaging on this HD Powder is incredibly ginormous and bulky! That being said - you do get ALOT of product so I suppose that is a plus. The design is the same as the other products in this e.l.f range - simple and black/white. Which I neither love nor hate.
The powder itself is lovely - it's fine and looks great on the skin. HOWEVER - I swear it is almost exactly the same as the undereye powder. In fact, I've started using this under my eyes and it does the exact same thing (which is awesome because you get so much more product!). I do like this on the face as well to set foundation or underneath foundation (if you want to do Goss's powder-before-foundation trick). It is again, a little shimmery which is a problem if you want to add highlighter as well!
Overall I'd recommend this product if you want to pay less and get a larger tub of underye setting powder - or if you want something to try the powder-before-foundation trick, or if you want a simple powder to set your foundation with! Especially if you are just starting out with setting powders and all that jazz - this is a simple, inexpensive one that doesn't make me break out (and I have extremely oily skin). Go buy it!
Tips: I apply mine with a Real Techniques fluffy powder brush if I'm using it on my face - or a small tapered brush if it's under the eyes.
I purchased this because I saw an image that a friend had posted on Facebook, having used this on her bare skin. She did a close up of a before and after and her skin looked amazing!! All her redness, scaring, wrinkles etc had all gone, by just putting this and this alone on her face. I was convinced and purchased some through Iherb for $6
It’s a big compact, with a ton of product in there. But its huge! And way too big and bulky for my liking. It seems so out of place with all my other makeup and doesn’t fit in any of my makeup drawers. It sits on top of everything like a fish out of water. It comes with a patting sponge which is fine to use with the product if you don’t have a brush for it. I also like that it clicks shut, so you know!
It is a complete mess to work with however. By the time it gets to my face, and even as I’m patting it on my face, it has snowed all the way down to my toes, so be warned and be careful.
I used it on my skin alone, and I can’t say that I noticed the miracle that it I witnessed on my friend’s skin. Yup it made my skin smoother, and more even, but only by masking a whitish coat on my skin.
I then tried it over just primer. The Elf mineral infused one. And as soon as I put it on, it started to flake and come off like little the little pieces of rubber that come off when you use an eraser on paper. Yea don’t do that. Not recommended.
Then I used it over foundation. And this is the best use. Obviously. It didn’t make it cakey at all. However I find that you do need to blend it well for it to not look like a white film across the face - possibly best to not use the sponge it comes with when using this. It lasts all day, has no shine, and definitely makes my foundation look better than it does on it’s own.
Also note that it is almost grainy in consistency, but it doesn't really affect the product. It also makes your skin really soft which is always good!
I have very oily skin so powder is a must for setting my foundation. The first thing I noticed about this powder was the way it felt. So soft and silky. I had to try not to touch my face so often!
I used it to set my makeup today and I love it. It has lasted all day and kept a matte finish.
My only complaint is the packaging. Too much product comes out at once. The lid is also a bit dodgy. I had a few powder explosions when I first used it. This product gives your makeup a really nice set without looking cakey or changing the shade of your foundation. I would be wary of using it if your being photographed as it can come off looking quite white.
Tips: Like many others say, use a brush, not the puff. In fact, the E.L.F kabuki brush is great for a few dollars.
