I was lucky enough to pick this up in the recent Beauty Vault, Elizabeth Arden is such a quality brand and I'm a sucker for a nice lip product - a girl can never have enough! In recent years I haven't been wearing glosses much at all but decided it was time to work a few back into my routine.
The bag it came in was not quite too my liking and was an interesting choice in my opinion for such a pretty, feminine gloss set.
The glosses themselves were very petite, but a good size for slipping into the handbag. The wand has a typical doe-foot applicator which is always a good option for applying glosses.
Each gloss had a lovely toffee-like smell, really deliciously scented so I was pretty impressed there! They didn't have any overly strong taste but I don't see this as a bad thing as it does stop you licking it off!
The colours in the set consisted of 3 shimmers : Passionfruit, a suprisingly pigmented fuchsia pink; Coral Kiss, a soft peachy-coral hue and Precious Petal, a blush coloured gloss which gives just the right hint of colour to your lips.
The final colour I received was Royal Plum, a creamy opague nude. This was actually the colour I thought I would end up giving away but now it's my favourite, it's the perfect nude gloss.
I've been wearing these alone and over lipstick for a glossy finish and they do last really well. I can see I will get a lot of use out of these, especially as the creamy formula really moisturisers your lips which has been great so-far this winter.
Despite getting good use out of these now I don't think I would purchase them full price as I do think for the amount you receive you could get a lot more value with other glosses as there's so many drugstore brands that offer alternatives at a better price and comparable quality.
I also bought his from the vault at the end of 2013, but I didn't try the glosses until the new year (they went into my Christmas stocking).
The red bag went straight in the bin, it has to be said it was pretty bad.
The glosses though are lovely. I thought I might find one or two good and the others not, but I have found all four very wearable, mainly as the are all quite sheer and not too strong. Even the bright colour 'Passionfruit' is very wearable. They are glossy but not sticky, sweet but not sickly, and as long as you're careful eating and drinking, reasonably long-lasting. They work well over lipsticks too, and don't fight the underlying colour.
What I do find strange is that one of the colours in the set is not one listed. Instead of 'Iridescent Mauve', my set came with 'Royal Plum'. This is also the only colour in the set without shimmer, the other three all have gold shimmer through them. I think there must have been a production error? Luckily, it's still a great colour, and it's good to have one without sparkle.
Tips: Try them over lipstick to get subtle variations. Each colour subtly changes the look of a single lipstick.
