I do think that Aruba Blue was among one of the first Essie nail polishes that I purchased, it is sacred and I am very glad that I keep all my polishes out of the sunlight as I have trouble to find this shade to repurchase which is a shame and I hate when brands do that as it really is like painting blue sapphires straight onto your nails.
The coverage: Perfect with opaque being acheived within 1 to 2 coats, it is also creamy so doesn't want to flood your cuticles giving you a clean, crisp, well manicured polished look which I adore.
The colour: Like liquid sapphires that have a rich deepness like the Aruba coastline.
Chips and flakes: After about 5 days of wear with constant sanitization of hands and typing as well as general household upkeep saw the polish chip towards the end of the week but this was without a top coat.
Essie is a brand that I love, and have far too many of their polishes for a normal person but then who wants to be normal, how boring, I want all the colours, textures and finishes.
Essie has won my varnish heart! I decided late last year that I was no longer buying cheap nail varnish. I do all my painting myself and would rather have a few colours of good quality vs heaps of colours which are lower quality.
The brush is the perfect shape for one or two stroke coverage. I keep my varnish in a cool dark cupboard which keeps it fresh for much longer.
The square jars make it easier to hold on to and are alot sturdier for those times I’m not applying on a flat surface (which really is pushing my luck but just sometimes it’s so nice to do nails all cosy on the couch or in bed – which I definitely don’t do while hubby is around ;-)).
I managed to pick up a three pack of minis which was a great idea, gave me great new colours. The standard jar lasts so long that sometimes I only get through ½ a jar and get bored. I do hope Essie brings out more minis.
I use a base coat, two colour coats & top coat with quick dry. I am done and dusted within ½ hr. I find Essie varnish dries very quick, applies great without the varnish drying or turning glunky. I’m not scrubbing pots the same day & careful does in for a few hours after. I find it to be stronger and sleeker than other brands with it not chipping or cracking easily (once dried), it is a sturdy varnish.
Essie have a great range of colours & I always find it so so hard to choose but to be honest I am so happy with their varnish I will slowly build up my stock over time.
Tips: Invest in a great top coat/quick dry....no time wasting when accidentally knocking nail when not super dry yet.
