For those of who you are new to Korean skincare, Etude house is a big brand in Korea (and personally one of my favourites), that makes beauty and skincare products, with goodbye pore ever being a primer from this brand. I purchased mine of beautynetkorea for around $12, with free shipping so it is a very affordable primer option..
The primer is almost looks like a moisturizer in appearance which has a gloss to it, and a yellow tinge to the otherwise white looking primer. It has a lovely smooth consistency to it, and it’s really easy to spread and blend into your skin, leaving a slightly wet look until it has set. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of this smell. It just smells fake. Like they wanting this product to smell nice, but it just smells artificial, not sure if that even makes sense but I hope you understand what I’m trying to say.
When the primer dries, it leaves my skin feeling really smooth, and like a great surface for applying makeup, and it makes my makeup look great after applying it.
A few things I really like about this product is I can use it on my t-zone without it making my face extra oily during the day. I also like how a little bit of this product goes a long way, which makes it even more economical. One thing that I wasn’t really impressed about what it’s effect on my pores. I didn’t think it made my pores looks any smaller, but it does create a blanket over my pores which make my foundation go on smoother so I guess that’s something.
Overall, this product is a decent primer. I have heard people say it’s a dupe for the porefessional, but that’s just not true. The porefessional has a silicon base, and leaves you face feeling oh-so smooth, whereas this primer does a good job priming but doesn’t have that same silicon feel. However, I find when using this primer my makeup still looks pretty good at the end of the day so this is still a reasonably good primer, especially for those who have dry/combination skin like I do as I find it doesn’t increase the oil production on my t-zone.
I recently purchased this off beautynetkorea for around USD $10. Shipping only took two weeks.
The packaging for this is very simplistic. A thin tube with nothing special about it. Makes it easy to get the product out and I love the thin plastic because it means you can cut it up to get the remainder of the product that you can't squeeze out.
The reason that I didn't give this product 5 out of 5 is that it smells like glue to me. I am quite sensitive to smells and that really didn't do it for me. The product itself is very sticky on your fingers as you smooth it on your skin. It doesn't feel as silicon-ey as the Benefit or Smashbox primer does. Once you have smoothed this onto your skin in particular focusing on any large pores it doesn't take long to dry down to a lovely base. I don't have particularly large pores but found this to smooth out my skin all the same.
Onto makeup staying power. I do think that this did make my makeup last longer. Without it at the end of the day my makeup starts to look quite patchy. But with this it looks more even still at the end of the day.
I would recommend this over the Benefit primer due to the price mainly. It does a same/similar job but for one third of the price.
