Didn't like the brush on this mascara, it applied ok but not what I'm after especially after what it claimed. This flaked on me so I'm not a fan.

Picked this up in my last Essence haul. Packaging is basic but expected for this affordable brand. Black tube with grey artsy squiggles and a bright blue lid. Wand is a minimal size, bristles at separated intervals. Fromula is nice balance, not too liquidy but not dried out solid. Also not clumpy.
I agree that it does give volume, length, separation and is waterproof. Not as much curl as I prefer though. Particularly like this for lower lash application. Can have a slight bit of flakiness throughout the day. Easily removed with a makeup balm.
I rarely use waterproof formulas but actually quite like this one. I would still probably try a new or different mascara over this but if this was all I could find i'd still buy it.
I was quite surprised at the this mascara. It added quite abit of length to my lashes which I love, volume not so much. It is a very ''wet'' formula so does take a while to dry but overall a decent mascara. Ive paid more for a mascara thats done less than this has. I would repurchase because I like that it gives me more length then volume.
Tips: Being that its a very wet formula, allow for it to dry a little before looking up so it doesn't transfer to your eyelid.
Bought this from Farmers and to be honest I find it great. Usually use Clinique, but price dictates that I did not want a big spend. The sales woman recommended and I took her word. It is buildable, leave 1st coat on for about 20 secs then put on another coat. Good for separation and does not clump up. Looking at the products I have by Essence I note that most are made in France, Italy and Germany. I will be buying again.
Tips: I always take my eye makeup off with a good purpose made remover.
I picked this product up from farmers last year, when I became aware of the brand 'Essence'. I chose to purchase it over other mascaras because it had a low price, but didn't look "immature" (ie look like children's makeup), and because it was waterproof which I prefer. Most certainly was not disappointed, and have been using this product ever since!
It does need multiple layers applied to the lashes (or at least it does to get it to my level of satisfaction), however this isn't an issue for me as it doesn't take a lot of time up in the morning. It's not one that I would recommend if you are wanting particularly dramatic lashes, however if you aren't wanting a dramatic look, then this mascara is great!
Waterproof is extremely helpful, doesn't come off in the rain, during a workout (running) etc. Only time I've found it to come off is when I rub my eyes, which is only to be expected for mascara!
Packaging is good. The dark colour means that stains don't show and it overall has a cleaner look, which is something I prefer over bottles/products that show dirt easily.
Overall would recommend to those looking for a basic, cheap mascara and isn't wanting something too dramatic.
I got the waterproof version a while back. I'll be honest, I got it because the cap was blue!
As for the actual product, the wand is a pretty standard spoolie type. Nothing super special about it compared to something like the Lash Princess. Unless you sit and work on it a bit like Bella says, it won't do a ton for your lashes. The one time I did, I was quite impressed! However, I also wear glasses and when I did so, my glasses were getting in the way of my lashes(or is it the other way around?).
It claims to be waterproof and that is true. I had a hard time getting this stuff off my lashes unless I used a proper eye makeup remover and makeup remover wipes did nothing to help me remove it. A few goes at it with my Maybelline remover and my lashes were bare and looking very forlorn once again.
Would I use it again? Considering the price and the fact very few mascaras make a difference on my lashes, it's definitely an open option. It being waterproof is a huge plus for me since I have oily eyelids.
I bought this mascara when it was time for a new, every day one and didn't want to spend a lot of money. You really can't beat the price for this one - around $5 at Farmers. I'm a big fan of Essence in general and I don't believe you always need to spend a lot of money to get a decent product but this mascara didn't work very well for me.
The wand is pretty basic and the formula of the mascara itself was a good consistency and was easy to apply. It does separate the lashes but I can't get it to hold a curl no matter what I do nor does provide any type of volume. I didn't get any sort of clumping or transfer (I have the waterproof formula) so that was a bit of a positive for me.
I wouldn't personally use this formula again however, I would still give other Essence mascaras a try based on how much I love some of their other products.
I have the waterproof formula.
I think this product was under $5 from Price Wise which is a total steal considering the price of cosmetics in NZ.
I like the wand. It's pretty standard but not unworkably huge and big enough to help get some volume. I think this product is best for separation and length. I put one layer on and let it settle for about 30 seconds before I add another and it seems to help more with volume and curl. If you try to add another layer straight after the first, nothing really happens.
I don't think the smell is anything usual. Just seems to be a normal mascara smell to me haha.
I'd recommend this for someone who has the patience to work with it. It's not a one swipe and go sort of product. Also I perhaps the waterproof formula is better than the standard?
Tips: Apply it then leave it for about 30 seconds before adding another layer.
I picked this mascara up on a whim when I knew mine was past it's best but knew I would be buying a more expensive one a few weeks later in Sydney. I opted for this one over its counterparts because of the 'Multi-effect' claim. I'm not sure how many shades there are but I have 01: Soft Black Essence All Eyes on me Multi-effect mascara comes in a standard black tube, cutely decorated with bluish-grey and silver swirls. The brush is nothing out of the ordinary, but has a good sized handle, a sturdy wand and decent bristles.
The formula is quite thin, meaning that it's easy to apply and doesn't clump. This also means that the effect is really subtle, which isn't usually the thing I look for in a mascara. This is called 'multi-effect''but really it's a very simple mascara that would be ideal for a beginner, or for someone who prefers more natural, but slightly enhanced lashes.
This mascara has a slightly stronger scent than I'm used to, but you only really notice it during application as that scent vanishes once the mascara dries. It wears okay - doesn't have the longevity of a thicker formula but you'd get a normal workday out of it, especially with a couple of layers built up.
It removes very easily due to the thinness of the formula, which again makes it ideal for a beginner or someone not wanting to put in as much effort with application and removal.
There is nothing wrong with this mascara. At all. It's just super simple and I prefer the bells and whistles of my others (for reference my current fave is Rollerlash) and for a mascara that claims to do a lot, it really just darkens lashes.
It's now in my gym bag for after a workout :)
Tips: Definitely go for this if you're new to mascara or looking for an easy, subtle option. For the price, it's great. Avoid it if you're looking for the drama of big, thick, curled lashes. It doesn't deliver on those promised.
Amazing product especially for the price! Have brought more, it's super easy to apply and no clumping!
