I was so excited when I got my hands on this collection at the end of last year, but as I come to write the review after having a refreshing use of it from the past weekend I have realised that I think I have only used it 2-3 times since I have owned it.
Design: This is one of the palette's saving grace, it comes in a printed tin case that is just so adorably cute and what will probably save it from a future makeup cull. The tin opens up to reveal 3 base colours, 3 accent colours and then 3 liner colours which are applied either dry or wet with an eyeliner brush.
Formula: The problem I find with these shadows is that they come off really powdery and nothing at all like some of the more recent additions to the Too Faced palettes like the chocolate bar palette. There is a chalky residue effect that even when used in a wet state sees the colour come off as a little patchy. It isn't a big deal, especially if you are using a primer, it just doesn't sit right with me and has resulted in me hardly ever reaching for it. The colours provided are pretty enough and the additional booklet of designs that can be created with the palette are easy to follow but again I have other shadows that create these looks easier and with better colour payoff.
It has put me off purchasing the other tin set palettes from Too Faced to be honest even though they are so adorable and collectable.
This is my very first Too Faced palette and I had high expectations of their palettes after using a friend's one.
This palette case is just so cool! Leopard print which goes perfectly with the cat theme. Tin but secure. Mirror on the inside, and compact and small enough making it an easy travel palette.
Inside 9 shades.Matte, shimmer and glitter. While the 6 smallest shades are beautiful and silky, easy to blend and easy to apply to the lid the 3 shades on the left are the complete opposite. Chalky, hard to work with and not much colour payoff and for that reason I give this palette a 3 star rating in both 'Did it do what It said' and 'would you recommend to a friend'. I'd easily wear thsee shades over and over again. The 3 shades on the left not so much.
I love how the shades all gel well together. Easily plenty of looks created from casual, glamour and dramatic, making this palette pretty darn versatile.
Tips: The 3 shades on the left are quite hard to work with, you'll need a good blending brush.
