I went out and brought this mascara by Essence as I had heard good things about this brand and also I was in the market for a new Mascara. I saw this one at low cost so I grabbed it to try out.
It claims to provide lashes with extra volume, additional length , a breathtaking curve and coating every single lash. All this Mascara did for my lashes was coat every single lash and seperate them. It did not guve me much volume or legnth. Nothing too special. Good for the price but it did not live up to my expectations. Also It smells very cheap.
Great if your on a budget and you just want to slightly define your lashes.
I picked this mascara up on a whim when I knew mine was past it's best but knew I would be buying a more expensive one a few weeks later in Sydney. I opted for this one over its counterparts because of the 'Multi-effect' claim. I'm not sure how many shades there are but I have 01: Soft Black Essence All Eyes on me Multi-effect mascara comes in a standard black tube, cutely decorated with bluish-grey and silver swirls. The brush is nothing out of the ordinary, but has a good sized handle, a sturdy wand and decent bristles.
The formula is quite thin, meaning that it's easy to apply and doesn't clump. This also means that the effect is really subtle, which isn't usually the thing I look for in a mascara. This is called 'multi-effect''but really it's a very simple mascara that would be ideal for a beginner, or for someone who prefers more natural, but slightly enhanced lashes.
This mascara has a slightly stronger scent than I'm used to, but you only really notice it during application as that scent vanishes once the mascara dries. It wears okay - doesn't have the longevity of a thicker formula but you'd get a normal workday out of it, especially with a couple of layers built up.
It removes very easily due to the thinness of the formula, which again makes it ideal for a beginner or someone not wanting to put in as much effort with application and removal.
There is nothing wrong with this mascara. At all. It's just super simple and I prefer the bells and whistles of my others (for reference my current fave is Rollerlash) and for a mascara that claims to do a lot, it really just darkens lashes.
It's now in my gym bag for after a workout :)
Tips: Definitely go for this if you're new to mascara or looking for an easy, subtle option. For the price, it's great. Avoid it if you're looking for the drama of big, thick, curled lashes. It doesn't deliver on those promised.
