Manicare's new Glam Xpress Adhesive Eyeliner and Lash Kits consists of an all-in-one hypoallergenic eyeliner pen (black eyeliner adhesive in a slim gold felt-tipped pen style packaging) and a set of false eyelashes.
The eyelashes come in three different styles: Ella-Rose, which has a crisscrossed mink effect lash style for a natural and soft appearance (Natural, blue box, #71). Ruby-Grace lashes are more defined than Ella-Rose, with a multi-length mink effect style (Length, green box, #72). Mia-Louise lashes add intensity with a voluminous mink effect lash style for a statement finish (Intense, pink box, #73).
I got Ruby-Grace, the black and green box of lengthening lashes. According to the box they're quick, easy, reusable and cruelty free. Simply shake the tube well, apply the eyeliner and press lashes on top for instant application ... It sounds too easy to be true!
I've been applying false eyelashes for years, so applying lashes is not something new for my, but this line and stick method is definitely different. The Glam Xpress Adhesive Eyeliner is applied directly along the top of the natural lash line, just like a liquid eyeliner, and then the strip lashes are just pressed on for instant application. There's no applying the glue to the lash strip, waiting for 30 seconds for it to go tacky, sticking the lashes to the eyelid, and then having to touch up liquid eyeliner to disguise any patchy glue sections.
I will admit that the first time I used this pen-style liquid eyeliner adhesive that it was a little tricky. After checking the fit and trimming the lashes, if necessary, I applied the liquid adhesive. The first eye (my left eye, I'm right-handed) went fine, it all worked perfectly, the lashes stuck and application was perfect on first try. On the second eye (my right eye, which I usually battle to apply eyeliner to), I used the adhesive liner exactly as I would a liquid eyeliner, and I got a little too close to the inner corner of my eye, which promptly smudged and ran into my eye once I'd closed my eyelid and was trying to apply the lashes. This adhesive stings! I quickly rinsed my eye before touching up my make-up on that eyelid and trying again. But now my eye was a little weepy, and the lashes wouldn't stick to the outer section of the eyeliner adhesive. Eventually it stuck, and the lashes were comfortable to wear and stayed stuck all day.
The next day I tried the eyeliner adhesive with a different set of lashes. They're a different brand with an extremely thin, almost invisible lash band. I wanted to really test this adhesive out and see if it would work with different types of lashes that I own. The thinner band was a little more tricky to stick onto the adhesive, as it was difficult to see where the band was against the black eyeliner, but once I'd lined it up, it stuck and stayed on all day.
False lashes has always been a thorn in my side when it comes to application. First there was the dreaded glue, wait till dry and stick kind. Never got them on properly. Either too much glue or too little or patches that don't stick at all. Then the magnetic ones came out making it a little easier.
Thus far these lashes as probably been the easiest to apply. Looks great, natural. Stays on all day and didn't remove any of my real lashes upon removal. Will buy again.
