I love this primer, it is defiantly the best I have ever purchased, it is a shame how expensive it is. It is very good for combination skin and oily skin, I wouldn't recommend it for dry/sensitive skin, but instead the no.28 primer serum (which is like an oil which absorbs into the skin, so its not good for combination skin and oily skin). I really like the way this primer makes liquid foundation glide on to the skin. I have noticed that it really does prolong my foundation therefore I would buy this again. However I wouldn't say it really is SPF, you would need to use a lot (2 layers) so I wouldn't rely on it for sun protection. It does minimise the size of pores, and corrects for redness unsure if it repels water or not.

Tips: A little bit goes a long way!!!
Finally, a primer that does everything it says, plus a whole lot more!
I find that you don't need a lot of product to get full coverage (one pump usually does me), which is a good thing because of the price and I find after using it that my foundation does last a whole lot longer.
My pores and fine lines under my eyes are definitely diminished, and I have also found that by using this primer before my foundation, I no longer have the need to use a "blur cream" as I find this primer helps to minimise some of the (very few, perhaps just one) fine lines I have on my forehead.
My only real criticism of this product is how runny it is, but hey, it's a small price to pay for a product I really love!
I will definitely repurchase this when it runs out. I've had it for a couple of months now however and haven't used even half of it (and I apply primer five times a week). I also have the 60 ml size!
Tips: Try it!
I got a new foundation and wanted to find a better suiting primer as well. I did some research online and already saw that the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer got amazing reviews. So next time I went into a store which stocked Hourglass I asked to test it and was just blown away. I ended up buying the 10ml version of it which I will now review:
The 10ml bottle is a simple glass pump bottle with the writing 'Hourglass' on it. The pump bottle is very handy as it distributes the exact amount you need. One squirt is enough to prime your whole face.
The primer is white and very light. Its almost a bit sheer and just glides onto your skin. It feels like silk and evens out your skin within seconds.
I usually apply concealer and foundation after the primer set and my make up lasts all day! Im so in love with this product and I'm sure I will never use any other primer.
It may appear a bit pricy but this product goes a long way, You dont need much and even the 10ml bottle will last quite a while.
This primer will give you a very even canvas to apply the rest of your make up. Its a must for every beauty junkie and it definitely does what it says. I can highly recommend it.
Tips: I just want to add that this primer does not moisturise as much as compared to other primers out there. So if you have dry skin I recommend to use a good moisturiser before you apply the primer.
I was gifted a wee 5ml size of this by a generous BR member. I'm super grateful to her as I was always under the impression that this was aimed at oily skin so I never would have picked it up. It comes in a sturdy little glass bottle with a wand applicator, which some may find unhygienic, but I find it quite helpful for getting just the right amount of product out.
This is such a luxurious feeling primer, it's super smooth and silky with a silicone feel, but not your normal silicone consistency, it's much more creamy. What I love this primer for is applying over large pores that tend to generate oils later in the day (for me this is on my cheeks beside my nose), and they normally always look huge no matter what I do. It drastically reduces the appearance of my pores once my foundation is applied over it, and prevents oil breaking through, resulting in my makeup lasting longer.
I personally don't notice any redness reduction when applied, but it definitely does have a white cast, which is such a bummer because this is the kind of primer you want to wear on a night out, and you can, if you don't mind looking a bit cray in flash photos.
I have tried it all over the face but because it has a somewhat mattifying effect and I generally have dry/flaky skin I just prefer to keep it to my porous areas. Because of this I only use a teeny tiny amount every day, so I can see this 5ml bottle lasting months and months. I will definitely be purchasing once it runs out, though! If you want to try but you're concerned over whether it's worth it, I'm pretty sure Mecca do samples :)
I love Hourglass products so got the small version of this primer to try out. Personally I like that this has mineral sunscreen in it, although I personally never go a day without a good sized dollop of spf moisturizer all over my face and neck I don like having makeup that boosts that spf protection. The second thing I like is the short ingredients list. It doesn't make me break out and feels really light on my skin. Lastly my makeup lasts and lasts and it pairs beautifully with the same brand of foundation. The big obvious downside is the price $30 for under 10mls and the second one it isn't a photo friendly primer so while your makeup looks so good in person and you want to capture it it doesn't transulate that way with a flash unfortunately. It also leaves a bit of a white cast on your skin, but I guess if you cover it with foundation it's not a huge deal. It didn't help reduce redness for me either and I'm kinda disappointed about that claim. Other than that it's a lovely primer, suits oily skin and goes really well with the foundation from the same line.
Tips: You only need a little bit. I recommend getting the smallest size before you shell out big bucks for the regular size.
I saw this in store at the Wellington Mecca Cosmetica. I was instantly in love as soon as the lady put a wee bit on the back of my hand. I had already spent far too much money in one go so I left this behind. Lucky me though a friend has a small sample sized one that she generously sent me so I got a good try out of it... and unfortunately I still love it (unfortunate for my wallet that is).
This has a bit of a siliconey smell. It comes out as a white cream. As you spread this over the face it has a bit of a white tint to it but as it sinks in that disappears really quickly. It feels incredibly smooth on the skin and makes my face feel ready for the next layer of makeup. My foundation goes really smoothly on top of tis. It isn't as thick as Benefit Pore-fessional so I don't think it would be as good at filling in pores, but it is still lovely and smoothing. I find that my makeup does last longer when using this, in particular in the areas that I usually find break down quickly. I also love that this has SPF15 in it as I love trying to layer up as many SPF products as possible on my pale skin.
If this was a bit cheaper I would totally purchase this in a heartbeat. I love a lot of the Hourglass products and this one is no exception.
I had 3 Veil primer samples I had been saving which I was able to get 5 uses out of and since testing this out I can understand why it is loved by the Beauty review community.
The primer is a milky white consistency, using my fingertips I would concentrate on applying the primer to the tops of my cheeks where pores are visible, chin, forehead and then what ever is left over I rub this into the rest of my face.
The primer is unbelievably smooth to apply, it is absorbed instantly and it leaves a white shade across my face which isn't noticeable once I apply my foundation. My skin feels like silk, each time I used this primer I couldn't believe how soft my skin was and how well it fills in my pores. It brightens my face and slightly reduces the redness that I get around my nose and cheeks.
When applying foundation afterwards it feels effortless, I spend less time blending and buffing the foundation into my skin, and the foundation is longer wearing, if I apply a full face in the morning, normally by 2pm there is visible signs of fading but if I use the Hourglass veil primer it will last to around 8-9pm, I am highly impressed.
The downfall I have with this product is the price, it isn't budget friendly so I've been saving for the 30 ml which I cant wait to get my hands on.
I would highly recommend this despite the price, it is worth every cent!
I've used primers that have more silicone than Pam Andersons ample.... well. But this is amazing. Allow me to sing the praises: - It makes my foundation last all work day, and I have hungry, oily skin than eats foundation like some spiders eat their young. - Its oil free which is always a bonus when you're a walking slick more often than not This primer has silicone, but you wouldn't know it because its a very fluid primer. I can only afford the travel size version, but it does last ages. I find a pump or two is more than sufficient and the travel sized bottle is super cute!
I have not found a single primer as good as this one.
Tips: Its only money, right? Buy the primer.
I am the queen of the oily t zone - and have forever been on a quest for the perfect primer and foundation combination so that I don't need to blot every 2-3 hours. I have found it!!! I originally purchased a NARS primer from Mecca and was suggested I try the Hour glass primer also so I purchased the smallest vial at $30. I am amazed with this product! I have used it with my 2 fave foundations (Estee Lauder Double Wear and Nars Sheer Glow) and they compliment each other perfectly. I do still find that I need to blot once or even twice during the day but that is nothing compared to how my previous primer/foundation combos have separated in my t-zone. Don't let the price put you off, it really is worth it and once I've finished off my little bottle I'll be heading into Mecca to stock up on the bigger bottles.
I like this primer but it doesn't tick all the boxes of what makes a great primer. The main reason I picked this up is because it's good for the skin - it doesn't break me out, it hydrates and I feel like my skin has had some love under all my "face paint".
I have the 60ml in the new soft tube packaging and I feel they should have kept the old packaging with the pump. The primer is runny and there is very little control on how much you squeeze out. The primer has a white cast to it so for the chocolate beauties out there you will need to rub/blend this baby out because ashy kodak moments will never be in - ever.
Unfortunately the primer doesn't help to make my "face paint" last longer and it could be because I have oily skin so I find that I have quite the shine at the end of the day which is strange considering it doesn't happen with other primers.
I wouldn't repurchase this again but I do feel it takes care of my sensitive skin.
Tips: If you have the soft tube packaging, hold the tube horizontally and tap the top of the tube to dispense a small amount of the product.
I apply moisturiser then the veil primer for skincare benefits followed by W7 Magic Face primer for prolonging my makeup.
