Berry Persistent

I own this in the shade Berry Persistent (186) and purchased it as I have heard it was a dupe for the raved about YSL Glossy Lip Stains which are pretty pricey.

First off I like the gold packaging and the shape of the tube its very classy looking. It has a large doe foot applicator which I don't really like and find it hard to apply the product neatly with (maybe I'm just not used to the larger applicator though).

The product has a really strong floral perfumed scent which I don't really like but doesn't hang around for long after applying so its not a deal breaker.

The colour glides on nicely and is definitely buildable (I like a thinner layer for every day wear with this bold shade) and on the lips is more of a deep berry maroon shade (not as purple as it seems to be in the tube). When first applied it has a nice glossy sheen to it but sets to nice non-sticky finish (but still looking glossy).

I am really impressed with how long the stain from this lasts. It lasts through the day with just one application (but not with the intensity it starts with). The glossy sheen however disappears within 2-3 hours and it can wear a bit unevenly if eating a drinking (especially if you do so soon after applying). Exfoliating the lips can help with getting more even wear out of the stain though for sure as well as applying in thin even layers (and building it up for more colour) rather than one thick coat (which will not set as evenly which you won't notice until later).

Overall, I really like the shade I have and will definitely be on the look out for other shades I might like. I can't comment on how it compares to the YSL as I have never tried that one, but I'm happy enough with this product and think it performs pretty well considering the price difference between the two.

Tips: Exfoliate you lips before application so the stain wears more evenly and doesn't stick more to drier patches :)

L'Oreal Shine Caresse

I bought one of these due to the hype. My colour was a gorgeous pink colour (Marilyn I believe it was called). I tried this on my lips the minute I got home as I was too excited to try. First impression was that the colour on the lips is nowhere near what I expected it to be...I found it to be quite dull. I am not a huge gloss person, and again, I expected it to be more of a liquid lipstick than a sheer gloss, so I was disappointed. Though for someone who is in love with hi-gloss shine, it would be a must.

In terms of longevity, it most definitely did last as well as it said, so I was very impressed with this. I guess it was a bit on the sticky side, but from experience, no stick, no last!

The stain aspect was quite nice, just a nice subtle pinch of colour. But again, I felt like the hi-gloss did not suit me so much so the stain was a bit lost. I did end up wiping the gloss off to see what the result would be with the colour, and again, the stain was definitely not a disappointment.

So to conclude, this did not really suit my needs (my bad for not researching more into them), however I would recommend to any friend after a nice sheer-ish gloss/stain. I did end up passing my colour onto my mother who seems to be enjoying it so far!

If you feel like "upgrading" or splashing out, the YSL Glossy Stains are amazing! I read that the Shine Caresse's were dupes for them, so I need to try some of these out, even if they sound a little disappointing.

still the best dupe of YSL glossy stain

I own both Yves Saint Lauren Glossy Stain (in #10) and 2 shades of the caresse (berry persistent and light pink). I believe this is the best dupe of YSL. - The packaging is not really my favourite, the golden part gets old pretty quickly. + The lipstain texture is quite hydrating during the first 2 hours using. However, it may dry out later and you need to apply another layer or lip balm (this is the only drawback comparing to the YSL stain) + The shades are really amazing, pigmented and staying quite long (up to 4-5 hours). . Even when it starts to fade, it still leaves this beautiful post-shade which is quite natural. Moreover, it gives a little gloss on your lips without being sticky like lip gloss + I also like the affordable price of this L'oreal lipstick line. I bought mine off ebay for only 12$ each - One small turn-off for me is the smell, it is just like chemicals to me.

One was from Smith and Caugheys (they do sales every now and then) for $37, 2nd was from Strawberrynet but can't recall how much I paid, and the 3rd from Farmers when they had a 15% off day + triple points :D Not huge discounts, but pretty good!

you should @brushandbullet, I love my YSL but I wouldn't say no to such a good dupe. Anyway where did you get your discounted YSL lippies (if u dont mind me asking of course)?

I've been meaning to try these out due to they hype about them being YSL Glossy Stain dupes! I own three and while I got them when discounted, it's good to know that there is something fairly comparable out there for a small fraction of the price.

Not a stain, not a gloss

At first I thought I really wouldn't like this product too much but I love them, I have three so far and the formula is amazing and it smells super great. I'm really not a fan of sticky lip products which is why I thought I would't like this one. But this goes on kinda like water? It's really thin but super pigmented. I love the colour range too, they have heaps of colours that are bright and great for spring and summer. Unlike a lot of other lip products, these fade really nicely, since its like a stain, once the gloss is gone, it leaves the colour on your lips.

Tips: I apply one coat then blot with a tissue then apply again. You can wear it matte or glossy

L'Oreal Shine Caresse Lip Color

I have 2 of these glosses, Bella and Eternally Nude, which are two of the more natural shades. The packaging is lovely, sort of like a gold bullet so would be easy to find in a handbag :) I didn't really like the applicator felt like I was applying with a fuzzy plastic spatula compared to a normal lip gloss applicator.

I'll be totally honest, I was not a big fan of them at first, might be cause I'm an old fashioned Lippy and Gloss girl, I just didn't really like the oily texture or feeling of them on my lips,

They do have amazing colour to them and the colour starts to deepen once you have applied it, they have great staying power and stay on for quite a few hours, very rarely needing to reapply

The wet look does fade after a little while but the colour stays, I even had trouble getting it off my lips before I went to bed

Overall I think these are fantastic products especially for how long they last throughout the day even with eating, they just weren't my personal cup of tea

Gloss I get heaps of comments about

I bought this on a whim when Farmer's had a special offer on L'oreal and I am so glad that I did. I got the color called 'Princess' and it's a really lovely pink-red-orange color. I get comments everytime I wear it and what a pretty color it is. The packaging feels a little decadent and the wand is easy to use. I love this gloss and will definitely replace it once I've used it all.

Great Gloss

I picked two of these up at a Kmart sale merely for the fact that they looked pretty - just like the YSL glossy stains!

I am glad I purchased these. I have the shades '200 Princess' and '300 Juliet'. They are both gorgeous colours with a decent colour pay off for a gloss. I use them on their own sometimes, but do find they are a little sheerer when worn alone. They do, however, look fab over a lip liner or lipstick.

These glosses are long wearing, which is typical of a 'stain' type formula. They are a little sticky, but nothing I find overly annoying.

I love the packaging - they look so luxurious and expensive. The applicator wand is nice and easy to use. I also like how you can see the colour through the middle part of the tube - definitely a plus!

I haven't been reaching for these as often as I should, so this has reminded me to get them out again. Overall, I really like these glosses and would recommend to a friend.

Glossy, kissable lips

This little L'oreal beauty caught my eye when I was out shopping. I'm a big fan of Loreal makeup, as I find most L'oreal products to be excellent quality at a reasonable price.

What attracted me to this product first of all was the glamourous packaging. In a modern shaped tube, it is covered in gold and there's a small panel that reveals the lip colour. In my instance it's the beautiful, pinkish -reddish colour 'princess'. So pretty and feminine!

The packaging looks high end and it's great to take with you on a night out. Getting this out of your bag you will be the envy of your friends!

The wand is a perfect shape and makes application of the formula easy. The wand is good quality and feels lovely on my sensitive lips.

The formula is beautiful, it glides over your lips and gives them much needed moisture. The lovely, pigmented colour is long wearing, and can last quite a few hours.

After the glossiness wears off, you can still see the slight lipstain which enhances your natural lip colour. This lip colour is non-sticky, which is a definite plus for me.

The formula is build-able, so for everyday wear I just tend to use one layer. But if you are going out for a night out and want a more intense look, just put more layers on.

My lips tend to be dry and sensitive, so some lip products just don't work for me. However, this is little beauty is great for my lips, and they feel hydrated and soft after using this.

I love that this is both a lip stain and a gloss, its different to my other lip products I have. L'oreal have made yet another winner here!

I would definitely recommend this to any ladies with dry lips like me. I'm very keen to get more colours in the range soon!

Tips: At my local pharmacy they have frequent deals on L'oreal, such as buy two get one free. Keep an eye out for sales!

Long lasting gloss

I really enjoy using my L'Oreal Shine Caresse, the gloss lasts for such a long time and the colour is bright and beautiful. When the gloss does eventually wear off, the colour remains for a while afterwards. The packaging is sleek and attractive, and I love the applicator as it is so easy to use and get an even edge and defined point on the top lip. Big fan of this one!

Tips: Test the colour on you before you buy - they come out quite different on the lip to how they look in the packaging.

Not Impressed - 102 Romy

I bought this recently when coming through duty free in Australia as they had 50% off all L'Oreal products. I had been wanting to try this product for a long time as I had heard it was a dupe for the YSL Rouge Volupte Glossy Stains but at a fraction of the price. I really hope it isn't a dupe as I'm not a huge fan. I picked up the shade 102 Romy which looks in the packaging looks like a bright pink with a subtle silver shimmer to it.

The packaging is lovely. A thin long tube in gold that gets skinnier at one end. A small clear part that shows the colour through it which I think is great. Once opened there is a large doe foot applicator that kind of has a dip in it so it holds more product. They really did a great job with the packaging.

Unfortunately the product itself let me down. As I pass this over my lips I wait for some colour to be there, and it isn't. It gives an extremely light wash of colour over the lips. It smells lovely and somewhat fruity. It feels comfortable on the lips. It does last a while but I found it fades in the middle, meaning I still have to reapply. It does leave a bit of a gloss on the lips but not much.

It might just be this shade is a bit of a dud but I won't be purchasing more.
