Tips: it is worth the minute to use it everyday in your make up routine!
I was one of the lucky few chosen to review the much anticipated L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper. I can honestly say I was counting down the days till its arrival...all the hype of the promotion and the fact its claims to plump the brow hairs had me excited. While waiting for the product, I thought of numerous ways I could approach my review (hoping this may help others out plus also show I was been series in my review, not just wanting a few beauty product) I came up with the following points:
BRANDING: the actual L'Oreal product branding was a classic black with gold print, logo placement and product description. Unfortunately I would have liked to see the actual "colour" labelling printing onto the product, not printed on a sticker and placed on it. it does have the volume (15mls) and life span (6M) printed directly onto the container.
PRODUCT/CONTAINER: similar if not the same a standard mascara cylinder container. The standard cylinder shape with a screw off handle/brush.
BRUSH?HANDLE: The handle (part of the lid/brush) is light weight and is easy to hold. The actual brush is around 10mm, with a tapered/pointed brush tip...suitable for detail and defining of brow hairs.
BROW PRODUCT: applying the gel like substance (similar to gel texture), is easy. Basically just brush it into your brow line, taking care to follow the nature direction of the hair. Its coats every strand of hair on the brow, giving each strand definition and sets it in place. This product does not flake nor cause any reaction. When applied and shaped, gel sets your brow shape all day.
OVERALL: I received the "transparent" Brow Artist Plumper (for the record I have medium to light brown complexion and dark black/black eye brows)... I thought this was a great product for setting your brows in place. But I felt it was not the best for plumping my brows, I have had similar results using gel on a mascara brush. I tested this for 3 days by itself (during this time I wasn't pleased with just setting my brows, I wanted them to look fuller), so I thought why not test it over my normal brow routine (lightly coloured in with brow liner to make them look fuller). WOW, first day of applying this product over top of my normal eyebrow method...I am totally in love with the product! By filling in my brows as usual, then applying the Brow Artist Plumper over top looked amazing. It set my brow hair strands in place, its shaped my brows and stayed in place the entire day. What I loved most about combining the two, was the the way it lifted the appearance of my brows from matt and flat to a lil shiny and more natural.
I recommend this beauty product to anyone who pencils their eyebrows (for a fuller look)...this will just help your brows look more natural and sets them in place for the whole day. ENJOY!
Tips: Use this product to compliment your current eyebrow routine. For brown skin/dark hair people, try the transparent first..I imagine this is more forgiving then painting your brows black. Also keep an eye out for this when it goes on special, as its currently $19.90 RRP.
I was so excited to be accepted into this trial! The L'Oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper seemed like the perfect product! Fast, easy and would make my brows look amazeballs. Unfortunately, I found it anything but!
When it arrived, it came with no instructions at all so if you haven't used a brow product like this before you'll need to wing it or Google tutorials to get the application right. The packaging however was great. I love that the colour of the product is on the lid.
I chose the dark brown and I was very happy that it was a true cool toned dark brown. A lot of other products I've tried are very warm toned, almost reddy which isn't the look I'm going for! The wand itself I personally thought could be a smidge smaller. Maybe I just have smaller brows than most, but I struggled to apply the product to just my brows and not the skin around them also.
I found the L'Oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper formulation to be wetter than I had imagined. It was hard to work with as it didn't go on evenly and I ended up looking like I'd wet my brows and chucked a bit of car engine grease in them LOL!
I don't know, maybe I just need more practise but I am not sold on this product. The idea of it is great, but it's just not right for me unfortunately.
Tips: - This product might not be right for you if you have thinner brows.
- Definitely Google tutorials before just diving in if you've not had any experience with this type of product before
To start, I reviewed the brunette colour in this product. This product was interesting to me, as I have always filled in my eyebrows but usually with a powder or gel type colour. I have found that the product worked well for me in two ways. Firstly on a day that you don't want a heavy makeup look it works nicely to make your eyebrows look slightly fuller and well defined, as it holds them in place well. Secondly I used this in combination with my eyebrow powder when I wanted a stronger look and this also had satisfying results with staying power! I would recommend this product, especially for those who are just starting out with eyebrows as it is pretty fool proof as long as you don't press too hard.
Tips: Try not to press to hard as the wand can smudge product on to you skin, this would give a very blotchy result. Instead build the product up with lots of light strokes.
I was really excited to be picked for this trial, as it seems that eye brows are coming more and more into focus of today's beauty regimes. When I first tried out the L'Oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper I noticed a pleasant cooling effect. I applied two coats in an upwards, outwards movement and it accomplished a tidy look. During the day it stayed in form, but started to itch a little bit. Because I have dark brown eye brows I might not have noticed too much of an effect. I am sure women with lighter hair will benefit more from the product. In summary I would maybe not necessarily spend money to buy the product again.
Tips: Use the L'Oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper in a shade that matches your eye brow color, use it on dry hair and don't use too much. Upwards, outwards strokes seem to work best.
I was really looking forward to trying this product. I was sent the clear but was hoping for the brunette. I can't comment on the packaging or instructions as it never came with any. I used it after my normal brow kit it made a little difference not sure enough of one to make me do it everyday, perhaps the brunette may have replaced the brow kit? The wand is the perfect shape and size for brows and the gel is just the right consistency. Determined not to give up on it I tried it on both my daughters who have natural brows. One blonde one brunette - blonde didnt see any change, brunette - wow beautiful, added volume and definition the shape looked amazing as I was able to manipulate the hair and directed it to a perfect arch. My verdict for the clear gel - a great product for natural brunette brows that dont need filling just defining and shaping this will now be a product i will use for her dance comp makeups.
Tips: Use it as a finishing product over your usual pencil or powder if you don't have thick natural brows otherwise use it as is.
I was really excited to have been chosen to trial this product as I am a big fan of tinted eyebrow gels. Having dark hair and very light blonde eyebrows i chose the shade 02 - dark brown, but unfortunately received the transparent shade.
I decided to get my eyebrows tinted as I didn't want to waste this awesome trial opportunity (and am also useless at filling in my eyebrows with pencil or shadow) but I hate to admit it but I was not blown away with the results of the L'Oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper.
As it is advertised, the formula contains fibres that are intended to plump your eyebrows. However, with the transparent shade it just acts as a very crusty feeling brow gel.
I have heard such great things about the tinted shades - some even comparing it to Benefit's Gimme Brow which I am a huge fan of, so I may repurchase this in the shade I originally was after. But I do not recommend spending $20.00 on a clear gel.
First off - I was sent the transparent one to sample, and being very dark, I think perhaps this will affect my review somewhat (if I were to have bought the product I would have chosen the brunette shade)
The brush is the ideal shape and size for accurate application and the packaging quite attractive.
The gel was great for taming my brows and keeping them in place as long as I didn't touch them. I found one day that I had an itch and once I did that, the product seemed to have come off quite easily.
It's good for it's price range but I wouldn't be likely to try the transparent shade again or recommend it to a friend unless they are very blonde - and I didn't notice ANY 'plumping' effect at all. Worked like a brow gel, and I've found a better one made by ELF at a half the price.
So a touch disappointing to be honest, but good to have tried all the same.
Tips: Choose your shade carefully and you will likely have a better experience than me :)
I was lucky to be picked to trial this by Beauty Review! I was super excited to trial this but unfortunately because of its popularity I wasn't able to trial the brunette shade and got the transparent one instead. I used it on it's own and it definately made my brows appear bigger and plumper. The brush is like a cute little mascara wand and after one swipe my brows are nicely groomed and looking bigger. Since I am brunette and need a bit more than a transparent brow product I paired it with the Bilion Dollar Brows pencil that I got in my beauty review Beauty box. These two together make my brows look amazing and my current profile pic shows me wearing both products on my brows. I am really keen to see how the brunette works on me and if it would be perfect on its own without a brow pencil too. Once it comes back into stock I think I am going to have to get one and try it out.
I was so excited to trial this! Unfortunately, I had a wee moment of forgetfulness and managed to forget to bring it with me (I went away for Easter break a couple of days after I got it in the mail), but one of my lovely friends gifted me with another so that I could complete the review. My incompetence aside, I really have enjoyed using this, and it’s made a nice addition to my everyday makeup routine.
This brow mascara comes in classic L’Oreal packaging: black with a gold band just under the lid and gold lettering. It’s small and compact and stands up well to being thrown around in my travel makeup bag (always important!). The brush is like a really tiny, slightly tapered, fibre mascara brush. I love how small it is, as it makes application nice and precise. It doesn’t seem to pick up too much product either, which means it’s not too messy.
I’ve been using this in the dark shade, which matches my (dark, hehe) eyebrows nicely – it’s not too warm-toned, which is often a problem for me with brow products. To use, I brush it up and through my brows, and comb them into place with the wand. My eyebrows are pretty full and even anyway, but this definitely adds some ‘plumpness’ and fills in slightly sparser patches, such as at the very front of my brows. The fibres definitely help add fullness, and I do suspect that this would then work really well for people with slightly sparser eyebrows.
I find that this gel sets to quite a… crunchy… finish. My brows definitely aren’t going anywhere in a hurry once I’ve applied this! I don’t really mind, but if that’s a pet peeve of yours then maybe stay away from this. :) I find that this lasts all day without fading/streaking/looking gross. I don’t know how it holds up in rain, just because I haven’t been out anywhere with it on while it’s been raining, but I’ll update this review if I find out.
Overall, I do really like this. It gives me a natural yet defined looking brow, and sets my brows firmly in place. The best thing is how easy it is to use! I probably will be repurchasing this one, and I’d definitely recommend it to others. :)
Tips: Don't apply too much at a time - I don't usually re-dip the brush for one eyebrow - this helps everything stay looking natural. :)
