L'Oréal Paris Super Liner Slim

I am currently trialing this precision felt-tip eyeliner, thanks to Beauty Review picking me for the trial team. The colour is Intense Black and it's a liquid eyeliner. It has a grip area on it making it easy to hold while applying. Super Liner Perfect Slim is like most eyeliners in appearance, it's pencil-like with a lid at the end. The font on the front of it is gold and easy to read on the black shiny eyeliner pencil.

I have used this eyeliner for a few days this week. I first swatched it on the top of my hand and it created a stylish, intense sweeping line. In one stroke, it glided on easy and looked precise. I tried it out again, doing the same with a little more pressure and the line turned out thicker and bold. It was fast drying with a black matte finish. I tried a subtle flick at the ends of my eyes to start with. The eyeliner was easy to use. The grip on it helped me use the felt-tip liquid liner with precision. It stayed put pretty much all day without smudging. Later on, in the evening, it wasn't too hard to remove with a cotton ball and makeup remover. I've been using Super Liner Perfect Slim daily to enhance the shape of my eyes for my everyday look. I have tried liquid liners in the past but haven't been too confident with using them. I found this one is easier than others to use, maybe because of the precise tip and because it's pencil-like. Brush-tip liquid eyeliners have been hard for me to use in the past. (Always end up with wobbly winged eyes.) If you're a liquid eyeliner lover though, this would be a great beauty tool to have in your makeup kit to take your everyday look from day to night. Perfect for winged eye and cat eye looks or for beauty spot dots.

I don't think I'd purchase this product myself as they're a little expensive for my budget and I prefer eyeliner pencils to line my eyes. They're easier to use and more my preference. However, I will continue to use this L'Oréal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim until it's all gone and trial this product.

Tips: Swatch on the top of your hand first to see the precision.

Intense Black

L'Oreal Paris Perfect Slim by Superliner is a black liquid eyeliner packaged in a sleek, slim black felt-tipped pen applicator, and the colour is described as 'Intense Black'.

The felt-tip is medium length (I've worked with shorter pens before, and longer ones), so it's just on the edge of easy to use.  Any longer and the tip of the pen becomes a little unstable; too 'wobbly' and uncontrollable to get a nice fine line.

The liquid liner flows nicely right down to the tip of this applicator, so achieving a super fine line down to the inner corner of the eye is really easy, while creating the perfect winged eyeliner look is simple with a few light strokes of the pen.  It's also really easy to get this eyeliner right up close to the natural lash line, almost dotting it in between the lashes to create a very thin liquid liner look.

The liner applies nice and smoothly, with no skipping or patchiness.  Although I find that if I do have to go over a spot that I've missed (or gone slightly crooked on), its really hard to see where the tip of the pen is, as the liner that's already been applied is so dark.  Of course, that's not a bad thing, I like my liquid eyeliner to be well pigmented, just like this one is.

Overall, it's easy to apply, it's a nice, dark, intense black.  It is long-lasting, does not smudge or flake, and it stays on all day before being easily removed with an oil cleanser at the end of the day.  I'd definitely consider repurchasing this one.

Tips: If it's not in a make-up bag (or handbag), try storing it standing upright on the cap, so that gravity keeps the liquid liner always ready-for-use inside the felt-tip.

somewhat disappointing...

When I received the product, probably the first thing I noticed was the ergonomic grip for holding; which is always a bonus with liquid eyeliner, and a plus in my books. I of course made some lines on the back of my hand to check the formula and it seemed all okay. Now, creating winged looks is no challenge for me, I've been doing it for years, and was excited to see how thin I could go - as I tend to do more subtle wings these days - but alas...I couldn't get much product off the very end of the tip, only the fatter part of the brush end. I tried and tried, but it felt so incredibly dry and difficult to run a thin, solid, line over my lids. In all fairness, I have huge eyelids and they do have a bit of skin to get through, but it seemed the formula only wanted to come off parts of the brush/end, rather than apply in a fluid motion that liquid liner typically does.

The formula itself is actually fine, what I did manage to get on, didn't budge after being applied and lasted the entire night.

I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that perhaps I just got a dud, but when I consider the price point and what else is on the market, this product failed to differentiate itself. When I ask myself if I would be happy to pay for this product, or would I repurchase? No, not really.

Precise Lines

Thanks so much BR for giving me the opportunity to be part of this amazing trial. I have blue eyes so always wear eyeliner when I want my eyes to really pop.

It is a pen like eyeliner which is easy to hold thanks to it's grip zone and glides on with no tugging. It took me a few goes to get used to using it as I usually use gel liner applied with a small brush. It has a great felt like tip which gives precise lines, just have a little play around and adjust pressure accordingly and you can change the thickness.

It takes a few minutes to dry down completely. It is highly pigmented, definitely an intense black. It stays put for a good amount of time but by the end of the day it does fade a little bit.

I'm interested to see if it starts to dry out as the cap on mine doesn't seem to click on very securely. I put it in my makeup bag and the cap fell off so be careful of that.

I do think it is a nice eyeliner but I still prefer using my gel liner. That lasts brilliantly and doesn't budge at all. I probably would not purchase this but I have enjoyed using it.

It's a yes from me

The tip of the pen is so fine it's amazing! This makes it very easy to use. I don't often use an eyeliner pen but I had no issues with this one.

The tip is firm so it holds it shape well when drawing the line but has just enough give in it to flick at the end if you want to. This also gives you a nice sharp edge to the line. I found the black nice and intense and didn't seem to fade during the day.

Couldn't fault this pen. Would definitely purchase again and reccomend to others.

Superliner gives you wings!

'Intense black' is a very good description for this L'Oreal superliner, it's fabulous! This black makes a statement and it's bold, but in a classy way...

The product itself is slim and black, as you'd expect of an eyeliner with this name, and its tip is incredibly thin - it's almost like holding a calligraphy pen, and it kind of looks like one too!

The fine tip definitely allows you to line your eyes with minute precision. And I reckon the way this superliner is designed makes it perfect for that winged look. Let's just say, it certainly encourages me to give it a go!

I'm not that great at applying liquid eyeliner, never have been. I find I can keep my hand much steadier with a pencil liner over a liquid one. I'd show you the photos of some of my trials and errors with liquid eyeliners in the past, but let's not go there...

Nevertheless, I do find that the winged look or flicked lines are far more achievable with this particular liquid liner than ANY other I've previously tried. I'm guessing this is down to the cleverly-designed, comfortable 'grip zone' that this product has near its tip. This grip zone is helpful because it keeps my hand reasonably steady. My lines are still not perfect, but they're better than they've ever been before with a liquid liner...

What about its durability once you've actually got it on? Well, I've found that it doesn't smudge easily and it stays on pretty well. The one thing I do need to admit here though is that I prefer this liner as a special, 'going out' eyeliner rather than an everyday one. It's just that I can put a pencil one on far quicker in the mornings before I go to work. So this one is being kept for evenings out, work dos, Christmas functions - that kind of thing. It's definitely being put to good use now over the festive season!

It's reasonably easy to get off, and I find a couple of makeup remover wipes do the trick!

So, will I continue to use it? Yes, but not as an everyday eyeliner because it takes me more time to get my lines right than with my usual pencil ones. I'm going to have to keep practising with this particular liquid one though because the overall results are worth making an effort for.

This liner encourages me to be more edgy and creative with my eyes, and I like that about this product. I'd recommend that if you're going to try any liquid eyeliner, you try this one.

A solid felt tip eyeliner

Did I think this product blew me away? No. But I would recommend it if you're looking for a well priced liquid liner without the mess. Felt tip liners are generally drier formulations so I find I can get a bit more precise with my application without worrying I'll get specks of product everywhere. The only negative with this one is that the felt tip itself is quite hard, so be gentle when you're using it. There is good colour payoff although it's not jet black, and the finish is matte and relatively long lasting.

Perfectly Precise

I have to admit that I don't have the steadiest hand and I'm generally pretty intimidated by liquid eyeliner. I tend to just get it all over my lashes (making them a nightmare to get mascara on later), muck up my lines and constantly have to even it out 'just a little more', or even when I do get the lines right I often find there's a degree of feathering into fine lines (come on, I'm not THAT old!).

However, I didn't run into any of my usual issues with this eyeliner.

First, I was really impressed by the incredibly sharp tip of this eyeliner, which allowed for a lot of precision - my lines were nice and subtle and practically perfect first try. I didn't get any on my lashes (hooray!), or if I did it's such a light formula that it didn't cause any issues.

The durability was really impressive - it didn't transfer to my eyelash curler at all, a claim even the longest lasting and most expensive liners can't stack up to! There was a little bit of general wear through the day, but certainly nothing noticeable without close inspection.

The grip spot on the pen was an interesting touch - I don't feel like it really added anything, but while it doesn't look great it doesn't really have any negative impact either.

Overall, a definite win for me!

Whip-thin liner

Liquid liners like this impressively precise (0.4mm!) L'Oreal one, make eye definition much easier and far less messy. The super long but super soft brush calmed my 'poke in the eye' fears, and dispersed the light-feel pigment in a steady stream of intense black without pooling or drying up. Seconds later and it was not budging. This could be a negative but this is the case for all good eyeliners. The sleek black and gold pen applicator was easy to hold and looks stylish in my makeup drawers, easily portable and long enough to poke out of a jar. $28.99 is a reasonable cost for such an effective liner, and it lasted well through my days of mixed weather.

Tips: work with a steady hand as this is a seriously dark black and has a vice-like grip on your gentle eyelids

Black cats eyes made easy

After watching a YouTube tutorial on the best way to apply liquid eyeliner, and with this product, I'm now a pro. There is something very sleek about wearing liquid eyeliner vs normal eyeliner but its always been so tricky to apply. This product though is easy and its the consistency of the liquid (not to thick, not too thin) and the brush shape that makes it so easy. Its black, black (sometimes you get ones that say they are black but once applied are more like a dark grey) and didn't fade or smudge at all during its day/night 'outings'. I will definitely use again.

Tips: Use in conjunction with L'Oreal 'Bambi' mascara - makes your eyes look incredible.
