Impressed!

I picked this nail polish up for $5 on sale and I'm impressed. I have the pink/fuschia one and I love the colour. It has a nice thick consistency so you only need to use one coat. The magnet needs to be used after you've painted each nail individually as the nail polish is so fast drying. the colours are so shimmery and the magnet gives such an awesome effect.

Great stuff

It looked really cool with my wee magnetic stripe ! Really impressed , although I found it hard to hold the tiny magnet above the nail while not bumping the polish. And you need to be quite quick and precise to get a nice clean nail line with the magnet otherwise it's hard to see the magnetic stripes. Will continue to use it as it goes on well and is a great colour .

Tips: Remember this is not a quick job, and it's quite Fidley

Cool but takes time

I have two shades of these nail polishes I got from one of those Big Bucket deals. I was intrigued by them and how the patterns will turn out. They worked but it took a while and you really have to put the magnet close to the nail without touching it our you'd ruin the polish. It takes a bit of effort and for someone that doesn't have the time, it's not worth bothering with this.

I do like the idea but I don't reach for this as much. If you have the time then I think it's worth it. For the price, you can achieve a cool manicure with the patterns.

Novelty polish

I bought one of these years ago at one of those parallel import makeup sales. I think it was only $4 or $5 but I had never seen magnetic polish before so bought a black one out of curiosity. The bottle has this little magnet which you hold over your nails to create a sort of holographic effect.

The application took quite a few tries to figure out exactly how to hold the magnet on my nails. It was a bit difficult with the magnet being attached to a dripping brush but I discovered you could remove just the magnet part so it was like a tiny button. That made it way easier to do.

The application is quite smooth and surprised me because I had expected gritty chunks or the like since it would have to have metal powder in it. It dried to a nice shiny finish and looked quite cool with the magnetic pattern on it. One problem though was that because of the magnetic pattern, I couldn't wait for the first coat to dry and do a second coat. So I ended up with half opaque black nails. If this had been a little less opaque so that one application was sufficient then I'd like it a lot more.

Not sure if it's because of whatever they put in to make it magnetic but this chipped really easily. Even with a topcoat and a foolproof basecoat on, this lasted 3 days max. And everyone knows black nailpolish looks the worst when it's chipped. So this really wouldn't work if you were after a week long mani.

When I removed it there wasn't much staining (thank god) but the sides where my nail goes into skin had little hints of black left over which was a little difficult to remove.

Overall this isn't too bad for its price and the novelty factor. I definitely wouldn't use this as a serious kind of polish and only recommend it for those who want to try out something new (albeit a little messy).

Simple nail art effect

I got this nail polish awhile ago when magnetic nail polish was first released. I love doing nail art and I loved the magnetic look and the cool patterns it made. Sadly I grew bored of the magnetic look and this type of nail polish has also become less popular and moved out of "fashion". I was quite impressed with this polish and how well it worked. Firstly, I found this polish easy to use. Some people would find it too fiddly as you have to apply your polish first and then quickly turn the brush upside down and hold the magnet above your nail. However, I have a steady hand and did not have any issues. I found that you get the best results when you hold the magnet closet your nail, not touching your nail though. So try and get the magnet as close as you can.

This polish dries reasonably fast as well, so I would recommend to paint one nail at a time, rather then paint all five then go along and hold the magnet above the nail. I also make sure to position the brush the right way, so that I can quickly turn it upside over my nail straight away. The magnet effect also happens quite fast, you only need to hold the magnet above your nail for 5-10 seconds at the most.

I always put a top coat, and if you do I would make sure to apply a decent amount of top coat, otherwise the top coat brush drags the magnetic polish base and smudges it. The brush is a nice size and allows you to easily apply the polish. The consistency of this polish is smooth, maybe a tad on the thick side. I find the polish itself goes a bit tacky and sticky after a while, so the bottle will only last a few months.

I did find that this polish chipped quite easily even with a top coat. But for a cheap polish it's not too bad. Overall, I think this polish is really good for the price. I would buy more colours, except I'm a bit bored of the magnetic look now.

Tips: be quick when you hold your magnetic above your nail as the polish dries fast.

No.. Maybe.

I had been wanting to try magnetic nail paint for a while and this was all that was available at the time so I choose one of these in the silver grey shade. It seems to me that the design of the bottle & product has a teenage/youthful vibe to it. It's a cool looking bottle, it's different and stands out from all the others. The magnet is in the top of the lid, you simply pull it off the top.

The first time I used this nail polish I loved it, after holding the magnet hovering over the nail for a few seconds there was a pattern of arrow shaped lines. However the magnet effect only worked for the first few times I used it, again I tried to use it with the polish several times after and it just won't work anymore, I have no idea why maybe it was a faulty one? It's odd anyway.. But that was ok I guess because I still like metallic silver grey color of the nail polish on it's own.

The consistency of this is good and the brush is okay, but drying time not so good. One coat is enough for an even coverage and it's best to stick with only one I find otherwise it takes ages to dry. And if you paint 2 coats quite thick it will never dry! well yes it will dry after quite some time but it won't set hard, it stays soft and gets imprinted with anything I smack my nails against if I don't stick to thin layers. Can't say i'm fond of this polish but it's okay, I'd like it more if I could still acheive the magnet effect which is the whole point but I still use it ocassionally.

Not for me

I picked this up up when it was on sale online in the shade magnetized which is a lovely fuchsia pink shade, just to try out the magnet nail effect for myself. Unfortunately I didn't find this very easy to use and found the design of the polish and magnet poor. My magnet fell out of the lid after the first use and due to the design and placement of the magnet I found it hard to get an even effect on each nail...however, I did really like the star effect that the magnet gave my nails.

In terms of the actual polish it didn't last long on me before chipping (I had chips by the second day) and I got bored of the effect pretty fast. I think this would be a neat gift for a younger lady, but, it's not something I would try again.
