LA Girl Ultimate Pressed Powder Review

i got this product for very cheap at a makeup sale so that is one of the main reasons i bought it ($10). i used it as a finishing powder and i found that it sat on my skin and took off my make up. however, when i used it by itself i found it worked really well :)

I brought this to introduce myself to Powder, I was also a little broke & felt I needed to start using a finishing powder.

I picked it up at The Warehouse for something ridiculous like $4 so had nothing to lose really.

I'd say it's somewhat mediocre...

It is smooth, it does mattify well.. it also wipes off on everything your face touches.... I have been using this as a finishing powder, so I don't think it's really had a chance to clog my pores or anything like that - also it just wipes off so easily it's probably all gone by the end of the day. I grabbed a couple of shades lighter than my skin colour and I have found it evens out well over my foundation, not leaving me looking pale at all.

The compact is not what I would call 'upscale' at all. It's a fairly normal little black round compact with a half window that looks as though I could just pop it out. It also comes with a little sponge that I wouldn't even paint with let alone apply make up with, so that went into the bin.

Overall, it's not great but not terrible. I'll keep using it until it runs out but I doubt I'll buy it again.

So the packaging is cute, compact with mirror and a flimsy "powder puff" underneath which i don't use as it's super skinny and just ridiculous. I found this powder nothing special, done nothing for me personally but would be good for someone starting out in makeup and getting used to applying powder on its own or as a finishing powder.. I would resort to this product if I had run out of my usual foundation x

I bought this product at the big bucket sale that goes on every so often in NZ and at these types of sales you often don't get much colour variety as most of it is left overs. I went in a bought this and looking at the product there and then I thought it would match me fine for when it was summer and if I had a tan. However getting home and testing the product out there is much more pigmentation than I thought there would be. I decided to test this out as a bronzer as it was a couple of shades darker than my skin tone, the powder blended very nicely and didn't look muddy at all. The powder is a bit powdery and can create a bit of a mess if you swirl too much. So just a couple of dabs and you should be fine and it creates such a nice glow using it as a bronzer. Although I didn't use it for what I wanted it for, I was still very happy and the next time I run out I will definitely purchase this again.

Considering that this pressed powder only cost me $5 at a local store I was expecting it to be the worse, but having read many glowing reviews all over the beauty-sphere about the quality of some of LA Girl products I thought for $5 what is the worst that can happen?

I was amazed and to be honest a little miffed that something that cost $5 could outshine some of my favourite pressed powders that cost me well over $30 each. Translucent is perfect, using the pad to just dab the powder over your primed and based skin it settles quickly almost melting in with your foundation to cover up oily/shiny areas and give a smooth flawless look. Too heavy for setting undereye as there is a faint colour shade to it, loose powders are best for these delicate areas but with this powder, the best quality is that it didn't cling to any dry areas, normally I have trouble with setting powders looking cakey but I haven't experienced this at all.

Super impressed and will probably repurchase this over my more expensive brand alternatives. The only downside is that it can transfer off the skin onto colouring pretty easy, but topped with setting spray prevents this happening.
