Tips: To stop the product drying your lips as much, apply chap stick or any moisturizing lip balm :)
I loved the Lime Crime Velvetines, although they do dry out your lips. I put lip balm on top every couple of hours which seems to do the trick.
Tips: Make sure you use a good lip liner as the colour bleeds.
These are perfect if you want something that will not budge your whole night. Touch ups might be needed because the colour fades slightly from first application but these are perfect I you don't want to have to worry about your lipstick all night, usually mine only come off with makeup remover. My only complaint is that they are rather drying but there's ways around that! Would buy them all if I I could.
Tips: Make sure to prep your lips, a scrub and balm are definitely needed with these.
I recently fell into the velevetine craze and bought the colour Suede berry and it's one of the best beauty discoveries and purchases I've made! I bought it online, so was a little nervous about the shade on me and the how the whole gloss into matte would work as I've never bought a lippy like this before, but I was pleasantly surprised. Suede berry is a beautiful bold, eye catching, sensual yet pretty and girly colour. I guess I'd say it's like a coraly orangy pink tone? It makes a statement and I always get compliments on the colour! It suits my olive skintone nicely and brings out my eyes :) It starts off a smooth, creamy gloss texture, not a gluggy sticky one, (this is what I hate about gloss and why I prefer solid lippys) and within seconds turns into a matte piece of art! It's wonderful! It's so easy to apply and to get right as the applicator is the perfect size and shape, it's easy to create the arrow, and fills in creases when it's in gloss form for a perfect finish! It lasts for hours I can eat, drink, have a yarn, go out dancing and it only needs a wee touch up every couple hrs! Is the perfect hand bag size too. It does feather a bit, however I haven't yet come across a matte lippy that doesn't, and nothing a quick blend and touch up can't solve! I need to own all the colours now, I'm addicted!
Tips: Apply a thin layer of lip balm before applying velvetine to lessen the feathering, EOS is my favorite!
I've always had the problem with any kind of lip product of the product rubbing off fast so I've never been able to wear lipsticks/stains out to any place where I can't reapply or where I'm eating. I ordered the black velvetine on a whim one night as I didn't have a good black lip colour and thought I may as well give it a shot. The first time I wore it out, I decided to give it a shot out at a dinner in town. I worried for no reason going to the bathroom every few bites to check it, nothing noticeable had happened to the stain and my lips were still black in all the right spots (no smudging). This is a product I would use many times over.
Tips: To stop the product drying your lips as much, apply chap stick or any moisturizing lip balm no more than an hour before you apply the lip stain.
I love the look of matte lips, so I am a fan of Lime Crime Velvetines. The colours are rich and stay on for a long time. It does rub off after a while, it almost chips off from the inside of the lips, but need to worry about it coming off when you eat or getting any on your teeth!
As it is also a stain you need to be careful when applying because once it goes on it is hard to get off.
Tips: The only downside is that they can dry out your lips a bit. So it is a good idea to use a lip balm or moisturiser beforehand to stop any cracking on your lips.
I'm in love with Lime Crime's Velvetine lip stains for the main fact that its so easy to apply almost like a lipgloss then dries in a few minutes as matte I think the finish and the sleek line defining your lips looks great.Only downside is after a while it starts to fade from the inside of your lips outward from eating etc.
Tips: If you do have it fade and need to re apply I recommend not re applying over and just taking it all off and starting again, as the build up of lippy will start to go hard and look bumpy in places
I have tried the Wicked shade of the Lime Crime Velvetines (which i am wearing in my profile picture) and I love it. Such a rich wine red.
However what did bother me was that although it sticks really really well (a little too well when you're attempting to remove it lol) i find that I get an area around the inside of my lips that I've chewed/sucked/bitten off and it looks really terrible. You'd think that that'd be easy to solve with a simple re-application but when you re-apply these Velvetines they go quite lumpy and you can really see the edges of where you've chewed. It's just apersonal flaw of mine but yeah.
Tips: Apply with a lip brush rather than the wand to get a crisper edge otherwise you can go around the outside with concealer.
After hearing a lot of hype and rave reviews about the Velvetines, I finally got around to trying them out for myself. I own three of the six colours- Pink Velvet, Red Velvet, and Wicked, all very unique, intense colours. I'll start off with the positives-they're beautifully packaged, and certainly do what they advertise, they've got amazing dramatic colour with awesome pigmentation and they're VERY longwearing. Because they are a liquid lipstick/ lipstain they don't need to be re-applied, meaning that a little goes a long way- great value for money aaand low maintenance on a night out! So while I think they are a great innovative product, there are some drawbacks that you should be aware of- they have an incredibly matte finish when dry (no gloss at all), and as a result can be very drying on the lips. To combat this, as well as the fact that I prefer as little shine to my lips colours, I find myself having to apply a little balm or gloss when wearing them which makes them much more likely to smudge and wear off, and kind of defeats the purpose of wearing a longlasting stain. If you're anything like me, make sure your lips are as hydrated as possible before applying, or you'll find yourself constantly wanting to lick your lips!
Tips: Be very careful when applying, because once it's dry it becomes very hard to remove- using lipliner underneath will help with this, as well as preventing the product from feathering or bleeding, which it is a little prone to doing.
Love the colors, how long it lasts and how texture! one thing im not keen on is how it kind of flakes / removes from the center of your bottom lip after maybe 30 or so minutes but totally fine if you re-apply! the cost is abit frisky but totally worth it :D my fav color is Wicked''
Tips: applying the lipstick slowly and make sure you create a straight line :)! get a color they'll suit your skin!!
