I bought my first ever LC Velvetine for a Halloween look, and I was worried about transfer and longevity of the lippy.. no one wants it to look worn out after a few drinks or have to constantly touch up.
Well first the packaging: very sleek, cute and girly but not in an unsophisticated way. the cost: well it is up there, but is it worth it... yes... and no. Yes for day to day colours but not for once offs or colours you will only wear now and then.
The lippy: it's a smooth liquid, smells of a hint of vanilla... glides on effortlessly. I was worried being a liquid as I am used to bullets only so thought it would take a bit to get used to but have had no issues applying just the right amount and no bleeds/runs or transfers... just make sure product is dry before you eat/drink or kiss :) It lasted a few hours before I needed to touch up but that was more due to the dark colour and wear showing up more readily.
Removal: a good make up remover is a must especially with the dark shades
Dryness is to be expected with this type of product so make sure you have a good lip balm t the ready and prep those lips before hand... flakes are not a god look.
I was really excited to buy my very first Velvetine, my very first Lime Crime after wanting it for months on end! So, a month ago I caved and bought myself Red Velvet. At $30 it's really expensive for a lip product in my opinion, and I might have expected miracles as everyone raved about it.
The packaging is beautiful, yes, and the product inside smells lovely, and it's Lime Crime, I mean, what's not to love?
Pro's: It's beautifully packaged, it's luxurious. It stands out from the crowd of red lippy wearers. It's a smooth formula. It doesn't bleed.
Con's: You can't build the colour. Once it's set, you can't patch it. If you lick your lips or anytime when your lips are wet, the colour rubs off ie when you're eating a burger, drinking coffee, etc. It does make your lips dry, and shows your dry lips off to everyone if you don't moisturise them first ie. use lipbalm.
I don't know if I'm completely sold though, yes it's a great colour and a great lipstick, but I think the hype over these were maybe too big and ultimately it was a let down because it didn't exactly do everything that everyone claimed.
Will I repurchase? I might buy another colour and see if I like it.
Tips: Don't lick your lips, or rub them as the colour will come off. Try to keep your lips dry for it to last longer.
