I have been waiting to get my hands on a Velvetine for a very very long time and finally got given one by my amazing friends for my birthday and it did not disappoint!! Wicked is the absolute perfect shade, and although the fact that it seems to be more of a lip glass than a lipstick at first, in terms of packaging and applicator, it is definitely a rival to all of my other lipsticks combined, including my MAC and Sephora ones! Its staying power is incredible, I can wear mine for an entire days waitressing without a worry. I prefer it to tube lipsticks because you only need to do one coat and you're away laughing. The colours are near identical to what you see on the swatches on the website, and they're extremely matte which I love! This is by far my favourite lipstick in my possession, and it exceeds all of my expectations! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone, it is amazing!!

Tips: Because it is so matte it can be a little drying, so applying chapstick (I use Baby Lips by Maybelline) ensures that your lips feel fine!
This stuff is by far my favourite matte lip product. If you're after a chocolatey brown with a red undertone, then Salem is the shade for you! This stuff is long lasting and doesn't smudge or wear off once dry. I like how there is no need for lip liner or anything like that, you apply it and wait for it to dry and BOOM you're ready to go.
Tips: As this is a very matte lip colour/stain you may have to use a lip scrub or exfoliate before you apply it as it can exaggerate the look of dry lips.
Why is it that I'm seeing all these wonderful reviews on the velvetines and then there's me who tried 'Wicked' and it was absolutely HORRIBLE on me :( I was super disappointed because I loved the colour and had seen all these wonderful reviews everywhere about it but somehow once I applied it, it dried completely patchy and disgusting, wiped off half of it ( I have a big bottom lip so wondered if that was why) and just slowly came off throughout the short amount of time I wore it for. Even my mum said it looks gross on me :( Was so upset cause I got a good deal off makeup.co.nz and was going to wearing it to my ball but sadly if it looked like that after only an hour of wear then I definitely couldn't wear it to the ball with food and drink. Ended up selling it after I had tried a couple of times and it just didnt work for me, I especially bought it cause it was kiss proof and for me it was not like that at all :( wondering if mine was a dud???
I recently fell into the velevetine craze and bought the colour Suede berry and it's one of the best beauty discoveries and purchases I've made! I bought it online, so was a little nervous about the shade on me and the how the whole gloss into matte would work as I've never bought a lippy like this before, but I was pleasantly surprised. Suede berry is a beautiful bold, eye catching, sensual yet pretty and girly colour. I guess I'd say it's like a coraly orangy pink tone? It makes a statement and I always get compliments on the colour! It suits my olive skintone nicely and brings out my eyes :) It starts off a smooth, creamy gloss texture, not a gluggy sticky one, (this is what I hate about gloss and why I prefer solid lippys) and within seconds turns into a matte piece of art! It's wonderful! It's so easy to apply and to get right as the applicator is the perfect size and shape, it's easy to create the arrow, and fills in creases when it's in gloss form for a perfect finish! It lasts for hours I can eat, drink, have a yarn, go out dancing and it only needs a wee touch up every couple hrs! Is the perfect hand bag size too. It does feather a bit, however I haven't yet come across a matte lippy that doesn't, and nothing a quick blend and touch up can't solve! I need to own all the colours now, I'm addicted!
Tips: Apply a thin layer of lip balm before applying velvetine to lessen the feathering, EOS is my favorite!
By far my favourite lippy! Long lasting and the colour doesn't fade or feather. Can't wait to get more colours! Recommend to anyone and everyone!
Tips: Gently exfoliate lips and apply a tiny amount of balm to your lips before applying. Use a liner and apply with a lip brush for best results.
I loved the finished matte look of this lipstick. I used the colour wicked and it looked amazing! It also stayed on all night even when eating and drinking. It was so stubborn to get off I had to use make up remover. It did dry out my lips a little bit so make sure to use chapstick before putting it on and throughout the night
Tips: Use a brush to apply as the applicator is difficult to get the straight lines with.
I finally purchased two Lime Crime Velvetines the other week after seeing a gorgeous girl wearing them last summer and adding it to my "to buy" list. I bought wicked and Suedeberry after red velvet was sold out worldwide. Having become so used to applying stick lipstick the applicator too a few attempts to get used to on the first wear. However, they dry beautifully and mine lasted all night and I got at least 7 compliments. Can't wait to see what my friends think of Suede Berry, hopefully I'll be a bit more used to the applicator by then. Loved the Matte look and will definitely recommend to others.
Tips: On the first few applications wipe excess off the applicator to avoid running. Make sure your lips aren't too dry to begin with, as it dries matte so can leave your lips looking shrivelled.
I was lucky enough to be gifted Lime Crime Utopia by one of the beautiful BRAs - and I was SOOOO excited! I've always wanted to try one, but my wish list is insane and it kept being pushed down the list by other 'must haves'.
First of all, I adore the packaging - it's so fun and funky, but still manages to look like a luxury product. But is it as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside? Absolutely. I love the liquid formula. It went on easily, although you do have to be careful as it can bleed a bit on older lips, and if you go over your intended lip line it can be a mission to fix. The first time I nailed it, but since then I've had to have a couple of goes each time I wore it. It doesn't take long to dry and after that it's stuck on your lips. Seriously! I smooched my wee girl and she didn't have a mark on her. There were marks on my coffee cup, but it didn't translate to a loss of colour on my lips. Amazing!!
So did it last for long? Yes. It easily went four hours before I wanted to give it a wee touch up. But that being said, my experience did change on different days. On the days where my lips were smooth and hydrated, the Lime Crime stayed on longer and looked fresher, and when I did reapply it applied nicely. However on days where I'd forgotten to exfoliate and moisturise my lips it looked quite cakey and dry rather quickly.
That being said I would still recommend - if you're not one for fussing about with your lips after the initial application, this is a winner!
Tips: BR have taught us it's a crime not to prime, and the same goes for this product. It's a crime not to prime before you apply Lime Crime.
I was really excited to buy my very first Velvetine, my very first Lime Crime after wanting it for months on end! So, a month ago I caved and bought myself Red Velvet. At $30 it's really expensive for a lip product in my opinion, and I might have expected miracles as everyone raved about it.
The packaging is beautiful, yes, and the product inside smells lovely, and it's Lime Crime, I mean, what's not to love?
Pro's: It's beautifully packaged, it's luxurious. It stands out from the crowd of red lippy wearers. It's a smooth formula. It doesn't bleed.
Con's: You can't build the colour. Once it's set, you can't patch it. If you lick your lips or anytime when your lips are wet, the colour rubs off ie when you're eating a burger, drinking coffee, etc. It does make your lips dry, and shows your dry lips off to everyone if you don't moisturise them first ie. use lipbalm.
I don't know if I'm completely sold though, yes it's a great colour and a great lipstick, but I think the hype over these were maybe too big and ultimately it was a let down because it didn't exactly do everything that everyone claimed.
Will I repurchase? I might buy another colour and see if I like it.
Tips: Don't lick your lips, or rub them as the colour will come off. Try to keep your lips dry for it to last longer.
And I am converted. Have seen lot's of my friends making purchases recently and have finally jumped on the bandwagon. My biggest issue was I didn't want to buy them online, I wanted to see them in real life and swatch the colors. I discovered a shop in Wellington CBD sells them, so off I went. I purchased 'Suedeberry', a bit brighter than I initially wanted, was on the hunt for 'Wicked' but obviously it was sold out. Goes on somewhat easy but I think it will take a while to master, I would definitely recommend lining your lips first to avoid it bleeding out. I love that its touch proof but the inner did wear throughout the day with eating and drinking but nowhere near as much as what a normal everyday lipstick would have. I loved being able to go into a meeting and not worry about smudging or needing to re-apply. I will definitely get 'Wicked' when the new stock comes in.
My only issue was the removal.. not as simple as just wiping it off, the only thing I found in my bathroom that actually took it off was my toner, which probably wasn't the best thing for my lips so any suggestions would be welcomed!
