As curious as I am, I had to get my hands on one of these Lime Crime Velvetines. Even with all this talk and speculation about them I had to give this liquid velvetine a try.
It's incased in this frosty glass tube. The lid has this retro yet funky design. The lip wand has this soft applicating sponge thats helps apply the lip stain on your lips well. The colour I chose was Utopia. I got mine from a friend selling it in a marketplace. It's the closest I could get to getting one of these so I was very thankful.
Application with this wand was truely the best I've ever experienced before. It goes on like liquid and magically dries into this matte lip stick coverage. How did they make this product. I am amazed! There was a scent like chemicals. It's indescribeable. I tried eating, drinking and doing my normal daily activities and not one smudge.
My results were well covered lips. My lips had a matte finish. There was no stickyness , no smudges whatsoever. It had a smell sort of like twink. It is becoming very rare with them stopping the imports to New Zealand. Like I said earlier I was lucky enough to get my hands on a second hand one. Would love to own a brand new one one day. I would buy it again. It's worth buying. The brightest colour I've ever had.
I bought my first ever LC Velvetine for a Halloween look, and I was worried about transfer and longevity of the lippy.. no one wants it to look worn out after a few drinks or have to constantly touch up.
Well first the packaging: very sleek, cute and girly but not in an unsophisticated way. the cost: well it is up there, but is it worth it... yes... and no. Yes for day to day colours but not for once offs or colours you will only wear now and then.
The lippy: it's a smooth liquid, smells of a hint of vanilla... glides on effortlessly. I was worried being a liquid as I am used to bullets only so thought it would take a bit to get used to but have had no issues applying just the right amount and no bleeds/runs or transfers... just make sure product is dry before you eat/drink or kiss :) It lasted a few hours before I needed to touch up but that was more due to the dark colour and wear showing up more readily.
Removal: a good make up remover is a must especially with the dark shades
Dryness is to be expected with this type of product so make sure you have a good lip balm t the ready and prep those lips before hand... flakes are not a god look.
Tips: Exfoliate your lips regularly and use a decent balm in between use. If you use a gloss or another lippy over this product it will wear off and loose staying power.
